Users are not permitted more than one account. This is to ensure fairness on voting for community issues, preventing avoiding blocks, and properly attributing content to authors. Inkipedia has a very high standard to maintain: spammy, ghost, or alternative accounts do not reflect this standard. Users found to be using multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you see any abuse of multiple accounts, please notify an administrator immediately.
Forgotten password
In the case of a forgotten password, creating a new account should be a last resort. It is really easy to recover passwords, because web browsers remember them. Navigate through the menu to find your password:
- Apple iPhone: iPhone Settings > Passwords (help)
- Apple Mac: Apple menu > System Settings > Passwords (help)
- Chrome: Profile > Passwords (help)
- Edge: Menu > Settings > Passwords (help)
- Firefox: Menu > Passwords (help)
- Opera: Settings > Advanced > Privacy & security > Autofill > Passwords (help)
If the password cannot be recovered, reset the password (valid email address must be associated with the account).
If the password cannot be reset, create a new account and stop using the old account. Let an Administrator know the account use has changed. There is no punitive action against using a new account if the old account's password has been forgotten.
Exceptions
Users may have different accounts for bots, as long as edits are not being done manually.
Consequences of multiple account abuse
Administrators have the right to block any user for any amount of time. They may also determine if an account is a duplicate, and if its infraction counts as minor or major. The block times listed below are merely suggestions.
Minor offenses
- 1st offense: 3-day IP block
- 2nd offense: 1-week IP block
- 3rd offense: Indefinite IP ban
Major offenses
- 1st offense: Indefinite IP ban
