Splatoon features a variety of characters seen from the fan made to fourth issue. It comes from a range from being secondaries to comentators to fulfilling the plot of the issue.
Protoginasts
Blue Team*
A group of apparently idiotic Inklings who are the main protagonists of the series. They don a blue ink color. This team consists of four members:
- Goggles-Kun, a C- male Inkling who sports Pilot Goggles, an Armor Jacket Replica and Hero Runner Replicas. His trait is clueless[1] and takes on Shooter weapons, having a Tentatek Splattershot set.
- This character's early life is unknown.
- Goggle's personallity is quite naive. Infact, it is mentioned in Issue 4 that Goggles mixes toothpaste and wasabi. Goggles sometimes never listens to anyone else except for Knit Cap, showing that she and Goggles have a very high bond.
- Headphones-Chan, a B- female Inkling who sports Studio Headphones, a B-ball Jersey (Away), and Red Work Boots. Her trait is sister (despite that being a job) and takes on Charger weapons, wielding a Classic Squiffer.
- This character's early life is unknown.
- Whilist acting as a big sister to the team despite them being the same age, Headphones is level-headed.. except when Goggles is doing his usual idiot things.
- Glasses-Kun, a C+ male Inkling who sports Retro Specs. a Shirt & Tie, and Red Hi-Tops. He seems to be the leader and his trait is expert. Glasses takes on Inkbrush (Roller) weapons, having a Octobrush Nouveau set (Octobrush prior to issue 4).
- Some headcanons show that the team started out as Goggles and Glasses[2].
- Glasses (somtimes) can be a very anxious squid, but tries to hide it as best he can. He tries to flaunt his knowledge as much as he can but sometimes he notices nobody is listening to him, which kinda upsets him a lot.
- Knit Cap-Chan (or, in mistaken translations, Bobble-Chan), a C female Inkling who sports a Bobble Hat, a Green Zip Hoodie, and some Purple Sea Slugs. Her trait is cutie and takes on Slosher weapons, wielding the Slosher.

- Orange Team Army*
- Army (Taichou), a character who's only appearance was in Issue 2. His intended voice sounds like this. He uses the N-ZAP '85 set.
- Pink Team*
- Aloha, a character who first appears in the third issue (as Jungle-Kun, revealed true idenity at the end). He, along with his team, were defeated by the Blue Team*. He uses the .52 Gal.
- Cyan/Turquiose Team*
- Mask, a character who's so far only appearence was in issue 4, along with the rest of his team. It's said by the Squid Sisters that he can take anyone down without "the swing of his weapon".
