Octostriker

An Octostriker is an Octarian enemy that appears in the levels Unidentified Flying Object, Undeniable Flying Object, Unwelcome Flying Object, and Unavoidable Flying Object respectively in Octo Valley.

Description

In each level an Octostriker rests in a pool of purple ink atop a flying saucer. When Agent 3 arrives, it awakens and begins firing Inkstrikes from a cannon on its head. Agent 3's goal is to navigate the level while battling Octarian soldiers and evading the Octostriker's attacks, aided by a purple ring that appears moments before the ink bomb lands. Agent 3 can avoid being targeted by hiding in their ink.

At the end of the course, Agent 3 will be able to Super Jump on top of the Octostriker's flying saucer and engage the creature directly.

When Agent 3 arrives on the saucer, the Octostriker will float out of its pool and begin flying around. It can still launch inkstrikes, but its main defense are the Octarians it summons to assault the Inkling. The player must evade or defeat the lesser enemies while bombarding the Octostriker with their Ink Shots until it explodes. These other Octarians vary given the level; Unidentified Flying Object and Undeniable Flying Object have Octocopters, Unwelcome Flying Object contains Octotroopers, and Unavoidable Flying Object has Octobombers. The layout of the saucer also varies with Unidentified Flying Object having a non-cluttered surface, Undeniable Flying Object with Gushers, Unwelcome Flying Object with three walls and an Ink Rail, and Unavoidable Flying Object with Balloon Fish.

Appearances

• An Octostriker first appears in the Octo Valley mission Unidentified Flying Object, patrolling the Tutorial Area at sunset.
• Another Octostriker appears in the mission Undeniable Flying Object, where it perches above Bluefin Depot.
• The Octo Valley mission Unwelcome Flying Object also features an Octostriker, this time watching over Urchin Underpass.
• An Octostriker also appears in Blackbelly Skatepark at night in the Octo Valley mission Unavoidable Flying Object.
