Private Battles can have any number of players from two to eight. The host can create even battles (such as 1v1 or 4v4) or uneven battles (such as 1v4 or 3v2). However, there can only be up to 4 players per team, and the host cannot assign everyone to the same team. The host can also set a password for the Private Battle lobby, so that only friends who know the password can join.

Private Battle is a mode made available in the August Update on August 6th. Private Battle allows groups of 2-8 friends to play together in customized matches, where the host selects the mode and stage.[1] Such battles will gain players no points and players' ranks will not be affected.[2]
