Map of the Testing Area as viewed on the gamepad

The Testing Area is a location in Booyah Base through Ammo Knights that Inklings can use to test their weapons. Players can access this area by pressing Y from the Equipment screen or from Ammo Knights.

Area

From the start of the area, the player can see a door back into Ammo Knights. Much of the Testing Area is made up of two target ranges: one immediately in front of the player from the start, and one up the ramp to their left.

The first area on the bottom half consists of three test dummies. Shooting these with weapons shows the players damage done. In the same amount of time it takes players to heal in a multiplayer battle, so too do the dummies. Dummies are knocked down after 100 points of damage. The first area also features many white lines on the ground to help players gauge weapons' ranges.

Most of the ground is ink-able. The area features grates to allow the player to test chargers or other weapons.

The second area features nine dummies. Three dummies are regular enemies, three have [|Defense Up]] abilities as indicated on their front, and the back three have larger HP at 500 points to knock down.

Background Description

The Testing Area is in the middle of Inkopolis. Surrounding the arena are concrete city-themed buildings and structures.

There is a non-climbable ledge surrounding the area so players cannot swim over the wall covered in ink.

Much of the Testing Area is covered in graffiti and Inkling advertisements, as with a lot of the Splatoon world. However, unlike multiplayer or at Booyah Base, there are no Miiverse graffiti posts.

Easter Egg

An Inkling scoring a hoop with a Splat Bomb

The Testing Area features an easter egg:if the player tosses a Sub Weapon, such as a Splat Bomb or Burst Bomb, through the basketball hoop, the hoop sparks green and the player's Inkling will say a celebration, much like he would if he were to splat an opponent in Turf War.
