EUREKA! We have discovered the existence of Splatoon 2, a brand-new Splatoon game for Nintendo Switch! This may very well be the most important discovery in the history of squid science! Incidentally, Splatoon 2 was also announced at the ongoing Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 in Japan, BUT WE DISCOVERED IT FIRST! Anyway, we'll once again be firing up the ol' research machine here at the Squid Research Lab, so watch this space for in-depth reporting of our Splatoon 2 research findings!

The Squid Research Lab can confirm that Inkopolis Plaza is no longer the central hub of Inkling culture. Apparently a new location within Inkopolis known as "Inkopolis Square" is now the most popular area for young Inklings. Many new businesses have opened shop in Inkopolis Square, and it is only two subway stations away from Inkopolis Plaza. We at the Squid Research Lab were surprised to learn that the center of Inkling culture has changed locations in such a short amount of time, but perhaps there is something to be learned about the Inkling way of life in all this. Or maybe we're just thinking about it too hard.

A Squid Research Lab special report:
As we suspected, Turf War is still the most popular sport among Inklings. The basic rules of this sport remain the same–two teams of four Inklings compete to cover the largest area of ground with their ink color within the allotted time. Inklings still eat, sleep, and breathe Turf War, and the sport still drives the direction of fashion, art, and language for Inkling culture.

We have found photographic evidence of one of the new battle stages in Splatoon 2. Inklings call this new area "The Reef", presumably because it's a popular area to hang out when it's not being used for Turf War. The Reef is located a few blocks from Inkopolis Square, and it's home to some of the most popular boutique shops in the city.

Our research indicates that the mid-battle stage map has changed a bit. Apparently Inklings can press the X Button to view the map at any time during a battle. Once the map is open, they can then press the directional buttons and the A Button to Super Jump to a teammate. Each teammate is assigned to a different directional button, as is the spawn point. The map also features a cursor that can be moved by tilting the controller.

While an Inkling is on the ground, swinging a roller weapon will still result in a standard horizontal swing. Please see the attached footage for a comparison of roller swing techniques.

This is the Splat Charger in Splatoon 2. Its design has changed a bit from the original game, as have the designs of the Splat Roller and the Splattershot. These classic weapons are still among the most popular with Inklings.

Charger weapons have gained a new ability since our original analysis of them. Inklings can now store their charge for a short time by entering squid form. Then, when they return to Inkling form, they can instantly unleash a charged shot. Very impressive.

The tried-and-true Splattershot hasn't changed drastically, so veteran Inklings will feel right at home with this weapon. We can also report that all previously existing weapon types, including Splatling and Slosher weapons, will appear in Splatoon 2. Stay tuned for further developments.

Interestingly enough, all of the special weapons that appear in Splatoon 2 are brand new. We've been able to secure an image of one of the new special weapons, but we're unsure of its name. To use it, an Inkling targets as many opponents as he or she can before firing. Once the weapon is fired, four homing missiles are launched at each targeted opponent.

This special weapon is called the Sting Ray. It fires a ray of pressurized ink that can shoot through walls and travel long distances, splatting any enemy players it touches Once activated, it's very difficult to change the direction of the ray.

This special weapon is the Inkjet. It allows its user to hover in the air, and features a blob launcher that can be used to shoot ink blobs at enemies below. It seems to be a very powerful weapon, but it also leaves its user rather exposed. Once this special weapon runs out, the Inkjet explodes, sending its user to the exact point they activated the special from.

This special weapon is called Splashdown. An Inkling who activates it will jump into into the air and then strike the ground, sending an explosion of ink onto nearby players and surfaces. This special weapon can also be activated mid-Super Jump, creating an explosion of ink upon landing. This technique may be very useful when coming to the aid of a teammate who is under attack.

I nearly overlooked it, but I've noticed the existence or a new type of subweapon. This new subweapon is called the Curling Bomb. I was shocked to learn that the Inklings are familiar with the sport of curling, which may be the greatest discovery of all. Once deployed, the Curling Bomb slides across the ground, bouncing off walls.
We haven't discovered any other new subweapons, but we'll keep our eyes open.

We've received a report that Splatoon 2 will be compatible with an upcoming app for smart devices that enhances online play. This app will link with the game and allow you to set a play appointment with your friends and teammates invited through your social media accounts. It also lets you match up with them directly in the game and voice chat with them too.
For example, during a Private Battle, you can voice chat with all of the connected friends when you divide into teams, but once teams are set, voice chat is switched to communication only between teammates in the same team. Also, you cannot communicate with random Inklings you don't know.
In order to use this app, players need to link their Nintendo Account to their Nintendo Switch system and have a smart device capable of in-game voice chat. Online features will require a paid subscription. Data fees may apply. More details will be announced at a later date.

We've just received an image of a small cat-like creature on top of a larger cat-like creature known only as...Judd. Could this young cat be Judd's offspring?! Or perhaps his younger sibling? Or even something more...sinister? MUAHAHA! Nope. Sorry. There's no evidence to support that. I just got carried away. Anyway, according to our information from two years back, Judd was supposedly the squid world's only mammal. Just what happened in the intervening time? We'll spare no effort to solve this mystery!

We've acquired images of some returning legacy weapons we weren't able to show at our recent research presentation, so we've decided to reveal them here! This is a Splatling-type weapon called the Heavy Splatling. The angle of the signature ink barrels has been adjusted to make for easier maintenance, but aside from that it functions just as the original model did.

In the Slosher category, the crowd-favorite Slosher is also making a return in Splatoon 2. The keen-eyed observer may notice that slight cosmetic adjustments have been made to the Slosher's handle and suspension arm. These changes are in line with the cosmetic changes that other legacy weapons have recieved. It may seem a trivial change to some, but we at the Squid Research Lab feel that even the smallest changes must be documented in order to keep up with the ever-changing trends of the Inkling world.

We've gotten a first look inside one of the new stages–Musselforge Fitness. This state of the art work out facility contains a bouldering gym, a regulation-sized pool, and all the treadmills you could ever want. Judging from our research, today's Inklings are foregoing the calisthenics and aerobics for more back-to-basics, iron-puming workouts.

Eureka! We've just discovered a breakthrough in squid-observation technology! In Splatoon 2, a new feature called Private Battle Spectator View will allow up to two non-players to spectate a Private Battle. These two people act as camera operators in order capture all the action. This is, of course, in addition to the 8 players who fight in the Private Battle. Outstanding!

Previously, we've reported that Splatoon 2 will allow up to eight Nintendo Switch systems to connect via local wireless to play Private Battles. In addition to this, a new feature called LAN Play will enable players to connect eight docked systems using a wired LAN setup. This feature allows players to create local Private Battle tournaments without the need for an Internet connection.
If you're willing to put in the work to set up LAN Play, you can also use the Private Battle Spectator View feature by hooking up two additional Nintendo Switch systems. Local wireless play is perfect for your regular gaming get-togethers, but LAN Play is where it's at when you want to organize a serious tournament event with your fellow players.

BREAKING NEWS! A Squid Research Lab special report:
Nintendo Switch owners will soon be able to participate in a special Splatoon 2 preview. A special demo version of Splatoon 2 will be available for download on Nintendo Switch and will allow players to battle against opponents around the world in the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire event. It's a way for everyone to investigate the latest in cephalopod warfare months before the game launches!
The Splatoon 2 Global Testfire will give Nintendo Switch owners six chances to play with other owners worldwide during the three-day event. The timing of the event is as follows:

All indications are that the content for the Global Testfire will allow players to test four different main weapons, including the new Splat Dualies, as well as remixed versions of the iconic Splat Roller and Splat Charger. Extraordinary!

Let's meet the members of Wet Floor.
This guy plays synthesizer and is the group's founder. He's out to restore some indie dignity to Inkopolis's music scene that's lately been taken over by giant pop stars. When it comes to songwriting, he lets others take the initiative. He prefers tinkering with sounds to performing, and the studio is a much more comfortable place for him than the stage.

Wet Floor also has two members that play guitar and provide vocals. The guy on the left is a fan of vintage rock sounds. You can hear it in the sharp, jangly rhythms of his riffs. The girl on the right is a faithful follower of the church of punk rock, and she carves out riffs with a more hunky, bass-heavy sound. These two don't always see eye-to-eye, but when they're in the groove, their two distinct sounds meld into a medley of magical music.

Now let's introduce Wet Floor's rhythm section.
These two bring a fast-paced technical beat to the group's sound that's every bit as crucial as the members who play up front. The guy on bass has a trademark string-slapping style, while the drummer uses her multiple limbs to keep a driving, super-stable backbeat. The friendly rivalry these two share makes the band sizzle with thrilling rhythm.

Let's take a moment to look at Gear and its role in the Inkling world. Gear is divided into three types, headgear, clothing, and footwear. From our observations, the gear sold at shops in Inkopolis Square keeps pace with the ever-changing world of squid fashion.
Each piece of gear comes with "gear abilities" that provide a variety of benefits during battle. Using a piece of gear repeatedly will increase the number of abilities it has. Our research has also revealed that gear abilities have changed along with fashion over the last two years, with a number of new abilities joining some time-tested favorites.

PUBLIC SQUID ANNOUNCEMENT:
It appears that a team of skilled Inklings have the chance to win a trip to E3 2017! We just got the below fax from our top competitive field researcher:
Battlefy is hosting an online Wii U Splatoon tournament.
Anyone ages 18 and up living in the United States with a Wii U console, the Splatoon game and Internet access can participate. The winning team will win a trip to Los Angeles, CA to attend the E3 video game trade show this June and check out what Nintendo has in store.
The qualifying round (Turf War) is on April 22 at 11am PT, but make sure to log in early and click the "Check In" button an hour before tournament time. Once the bracket is seeded, you can set up your qualifying match using Battlefy's Private Match Chat and then proceed to splat your way to hopeful victory.
The top 16 teams in the qualifying round will then move on to the Finals. In the finals, teams will play Turf War, Splat Zones and Tower Control in succession in single elimination best of five play until only two teams remain. The Grand Finals will see the final two teams doing battle in Rainmaker mode to determine the ultimate winner. The Finals will begin on April 29 at 11am PT.

We've managed to learn the name of the young boy with the sea-urchin like head. Everyone, meet "Murch". Apparently, he looks up to Spyke as a role model, and works in the same industry (if not the same organization) as Spyke.
Murch is good with his hands, and he uses those nimble digits to perform a special service he calls "gear scrubbing". This will reset the additional abilities on a piece of gear, returning it to its original state. From what we can tell, gear abilities you've removed from gear will be returned to you as "ability chunks".
Once you collect enough ability chunks you'll be able to use them to fill an empty gear slot with a new ability. Theoretically, this means that repeating Murch's gear scrubbing many times would allow you to mix and match additional gear abilities as you see fit! That would be incredible! It could be that this young man is even more talented than Spyke himself!

Introducing Humpback Pump Track. This new stage is an indoor BMX track, but Inklings use it as a stage for Turf War. It features many curvy ups and downs, and the bike track surrounds a small hill in the middle. You'd think the openness makes for great visibility, but the hump abundance creates a surprising amount of blind spots. Inklings can employ multiple strategies, including frontal breakthroughs or attacking from the side.
Oh... and we just realized that jellyfish can ride bikes? What!?

This is Starfish Mainstage. It's an outdoor music venue that hosts concerts for all types of music acts. The now legendary "Squid Squad" played here once, and its considered a bit of a holy site for devotees of rock music. It's a wonder that all the ink spray doesn't cause the equipment to short circuit, but I guess they've got it figured out.

It looks like spawn points have seen a bit of an upgrade over the last two years. This new version seems to be a snazzy foreign-made model, but it looks to function just like the older domestic models. Three freshly designed amiibo figures will launch alongside Splatoon 2 on July 21st – a new Inkling Girl, Inkling Boy and Inkling Squid. Above are some close-ups of these specimen.
We also discovered there are multiple benefits to tapping these amiibo into Splatoon 2. After tapping a compatible amiibo (which includes previously released Splatoon amiibo figures), the figure's character will appear in the game and befriend the player.

Befriend an amiibo character and it can remember your current gear, player settings, and camera options. This comes in handy when waging Turf War at a friend's house, or as a convenient way to have a special pre-set loadout ready-to-go.

A ways back we introduced the Boss Salmonids that will make their appearance in Salmon Run. It turns out that these big baddies are the ones holding the Golden Eggs, and they come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes. This tough customer is Octo Samurai. He brandishes a gigantic roller, using it to dash the hopes of all those who dare approach. He's got no time or patience for anyone who fakes the funk, and word has it that he is worshipped as a big bad boss by the Octarian rank-and-file troops. He enjoys working on his motorcycle in his spare time. On closer examination, it should be noted that he actually looks more like a sumo wrestler than a samurai, which is a little weird.

In Tower Control mode, teams battle to move a tower deep into enemy territory. As the tower moves along its set path, it passes through a number of checkpoints and–this is key–stops at each checkpoint for a bit before moving on. We've deduced that once a team clears a checkpoint, they'll be able to pass through it again without stopping. Teamwork is key to victory—make no mistake about it!

This Gear Ability is Ink Resistance Up. It reduces damage taken and improves mobility when walking through enemy ink. This ability was in the first game, but it was restricted to shoes as a Main Ability. It's available on headwear and clothing, and can also be added as a sub ability. Think about the fashion-coordination possibilities!

While we were researching multiplayer battles, we discovered a small mark we hadn't seen before. Our theory is that this mark is displayed when multiple players cooperate to take down a single opponent. We're calling it an "assist mark" for the time being.

In Splatoon 2, there are two ways to play Salmon Run: local multiplayer and online.
Local multiplayer lets you play anytime, anywhere. When you don't have enough players gathered locally to start a full 4v4 Turf War, Salmon Run is great option.
Online play, on the other hand, is event-based and can be enjoyed during times when Grizzco Industries is open for business.

The Bomb Launcher special allows you to launch bombs without consuming any ink. The longer a player holds the R button, the farther the bomb will travel. They also come in different varieties: Splat-Bomb Launcher, Curling-Bomb Launcher, Autobomb Launcher, etc. We also discovered that this special doesn't necessarily tie to your kit's sub weapon, meaning you might discover a kit with Suction Bomb sub and Curling-Bomb Launcher special, for example.

It appears that there are now two ways to enter Splatfest Battles: Solo & Team. Solo mode works like Splatfest in the original Splatoon game; you'll automatically match with three other players and battle against groups of four random players from the opposing team.
Team mode requires four players (must be friends with someone from the same team who is in the Lobby) to join a private lobby before being matched up against another team of four.
The final result will be determined by popularity, Solo Win percentage, and Team Win percentage.

In the Splatfest World Premiere demo, using the Sting Ray severely limited your mobility, but its mobility is being improved through an update to the game. With the new-and-improved Sting Ray, players will be able to suspend their attack by entering squid form, allowing them to reposition themselves before resuming their assault. This enables players to retreat at a moment's notice, or find a better vantage point.

[Public Squid Notice] We received a technical update about the SplatNet 2 Gear Shop in the Nintendo Switch Online app. During a short amount of time after the servers went live, a few gear items paired up with incorrect gear abilities. For example, Ninja Squid, which is meant to only attach to clothing, was attached to shoes. The gear in question are the four in the above image. As of now, this issue has been fixed, and such gear items will no longer appear in the Gear Shop.
An update will be made in the near future to replace the Gear Ability of these items with the same main Gear Ability that will be available in the stores in the game. We appreciate your understanding.

As a reminder, at the end of the event, the winning side will be determined by Popularity, Solo Win percentage, and Team Win percentage. And this Splatfest theme will be shared globally, though results will be tallied and shared region by region.
Don't forget you can team up with friends in Splatfest, though Team Mode is a little different from what you may be used to. This mode requires four players (must be friends with someone from the same team who is in the Lobby) to join a private lobby before being matched up against another team of four.
But will players choose mayo or ketchup? Only you can decide! And if you can't wait to show your support, you can go into the game later tonight to pick your team and/or submit some mayo or ketchup centric drawings. Say hello to the Dualie Squelchers! Tonight at 7 PM PT, these puppies will be in stock at Ammo Knights. This weapon appeared as the shooter-type Jet Squelcher in the original game, but it's been reborn as a Dualies-type weapon in Splatoon 2.
Its iconic longish-range and rapid fire return with the added dodge roll ability. It comes with a Point Sensor sub and Tenta Missiles special. We even noticed that while shooting from a crouch right after rolling, both Squelchers are temporarily merged - fascinating! Sheldon recommends this kit for nimble fighters that want to support their team and be a real nuisance to opponents.

Inklings can use it to scatter ink before them by firing. However, by holding the ZR button, the umbrella will open up and shield them from enemy attacks. This charger is a bit short on range, but can charge up quickly, allowing you to jump into the fray. We learned that on Friday evening, a new stage will be added to the mix. The Manta Maria is a large sailboat moored at a harbor near Inkopolis, and it will soon be the site of many fierce ink battles. The towering masts and nets in the center of the stage will likely be a key area of conflict.
We've noticed that Inklings often choose to do battle on or near bodies of water, even though their bodies are incompatible with water. It could be that they revel in the danger of it, but more research is needed on this subject.

One of the key updates is that Grizzco Industries has apparently established a new location for its Salmon Run operation. This location is known as Lost Outpost. It appears to be an abandoned settlement near a coastal region.
You can use the walls of the main structure to evade Salmonid attacks, but the walls will also block your line of sight. You'll need to be even more vigilant in watching your teammates' backs.
This stage will be available via The Shoal for local multiplayer later this evening, as well as rotated into upcoming online work-shifts.

[PSA] Tonight, September 7th, a software update (Ver. 1.3.0) will be released. Prior to this update, server maintenance will take place from 5:50 PM - 7:30 PM Pacific Time.

The biggest changes in Ver. 1.3.0 are adjustments to some special weapons as well as some main weapons. In addition to these, adjustments to improve performance of some sub weapons have also been made.
Along with this update, additional adjustments have been made to refine matchmaking criteria in Ranked Battles so players with much closer Power Rating will get matched up even in the same rank. How much ranks rise or fall will be adjusted based on this criteria. The tendency for rank above S+ will not change with this update.
The next update is scheduled in mid-October and will target performance improvement of some main weapons.

There is much science happening with today's new weapon. According to Sheldon, the Rapid Blaster Pro uses a chamber system that delays oxidization to the last possible instance. So what does this mean exactly? An incredible range, that's what!
This range is made even more dangerous with the Toxic Mist Sub weapon and Ink Storm Special (which is, of course, excellent for providing cover for your teammates). Overall, it's a kit for the more technically minded Inklings out there.

Battles will take place on a riverbed that's under construction. Try not to blindly rush in – it's easy to fall into the central waterway if you're not paying attention. The ground is also lower near the water, so watch out for foes with long range weapons on the platforms above. The key will be finding out how to successfully cross the water and continue the fight on the other side. There may be some snappy comebacks during these fights, so be prepared to make some snap decisions!

The Bamboozler 14 Mk I has a biodegradable look to it: we hear that it's a tribute to a legendary squid squad leader (a leader who must have been very fearsome indeed!). Because of its unique design, this weapon can't actually store a charge...but it does have a good rate of fire and decent mobility when fully charged. The kit also comes with Curling Bombs and Tenta Missiles to round things out.

What? Do your eyes deceive you? No, the headline is correct: TWO new weapons will be available later tonight. Namely, the Custom E-liter 4K and the Custom E-liter 4K Scope. So what are the differences? Our data should help out there!
Overall, both of these charger weapons are very similar to the original E-liter 4K. However, the version with the scope has a bit longer range...the tradeoff is that you can't store a charged shot as a squid. It all depends on what is more important to you: range or flexibility. Decisions, decisions!
Both kits also come with the Squid Beakon sub weapon and the Bubble Blower special to round it out.

We received a transmission that a huge Splatoon 2 LAN tournament is being planned for Boston this weekend, Nov 4-5, and it's organized by some friends of the Squid Research Lab. Hosted at the Balance Patch Gaming Cafe in Boston, they're bringing 2 full days of inking action featuring top players and teams, including members of Set To Destroy X (previously Deadbeat), who won the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational!

MakoMart, the most popular superstore in Inkopolis, is now a battle stage! Since they sell many products in bulk, Inklings often buy groceries with their teammates and split things up among themselves later.

A new band called the Bottom Feeders has been tearing up the Inkopolis charts lately. The band is fronted by a tropical-betta-fish violinist, features vocals by a dude made of seaweed, and also includes a shark, a scallop, and a globefish. Their unforgiving yet catchy music style is the product of fusing ancient Celtic sea shanties with punk rock.

OH RIGHT! It's Walleye Warehouse! There are likely a lot of veteran Inklings who still recall exciting and fierce battles that took place here.
It appears that the online shopping market has been growing enormously even in this squid world, and the warehouse is operating at full capacity. Walleye Warehouse will be open for battle in mid-December!

The Japanese branch of the Squid Research Lab recently informed us that another Squid Fashion Contest was recently held in Famitsu Magazine.
The winner of the graffiti design division is this wild piece designed by Kazoo from Hokkaido, Japan. You'll be able to check it out in Walleye Warehouse soon!

This major software update will also raise the level cap to 99. If you talk to Judd when you reach Level 99, he'll reset your level to ★1. If you do this, the start icon next to your level will show your foes that you mean business. From there, you can continue to raise your level up to ★99. No matter how many times you reset, your in-game Level will only display with one star emblem, but you can check how many times you've reset your level on the SplatNet 2 app.

The Shellendorf Institute is a prestigious museum that's been educating young Inklings for over 120 years. And it's now also a battle stage! While you're playing, please be careful to treat the exhibits with respect–especially the giant ancient fossil suspended from the ceiling.
We're a bit surprised that the museum agreed to host ink battles here, but maybe attendance has been down lately. I know you're excited, but hold your sea horses–they won't be opening their doors until January.

Dressing-up starts from the bottom. As in, what kind of pants to wear, if pants are part of the plan at all.
With the new update, two new bottoms for Girl and Boy each will become available in additon to new hairstyles. You can enjoy trying out new styles like short pants or skinny leggings. You can change the bottom wear from the customization screens in the option menu in the game.

If you have Splatoon-series amiibo figures, you may already know about the feature where you can take fun photos in Inkopolis Square. With the new update though, you'll also be able to take and share in-game photos in two preset locations in battle stages too! And check it out–these locations will allow you to hold your favorite weapon while posing! It's also possible to add filters such as monochrome and sepia to the images.

Players who want to change gear between Turf War, Ranked Battles, and Splatfest Battles (solo) won't have to exit to the lobby anymore! After downloading the update, gear can be swapped out without leaving the match room, making it quicker to get back to splatting.

Salmon Run is getting a new stage tomorrow called Salmonid Smokeyard. A wide gap on the beach divides two upper platforms, with fan lifts being the quickest way to traverse the two platforms. If you want to meet the Golden Egg quota, teamwork will be required to use the fan lifts effectively, especially during high tide!

This is Arowana Mall. The deep, long stage structure will look familiar to players of the original Splatoon game, but the tenants of the mall have changed in the past couple of years. Crusty Sean's food truck, The Crust Bucket, will be adding a couple new items to menu starting tonight. The Triple-Fried Galactic Shwaffle will increase your battle cash by 150%, and the Galactic Seanwich will increase your battle experience by 150%. Just like other items, the effect lasts for 20 battles. Tickets can be earned in Salmon Run or The Shoal.

We discovered some details on a few of the upcoming weapons spotted in the recent trailer. Glooga Dualies are a dualie-type weapon whose power increases immediately following a dodge-roll. The Squeezer is a shooter-type where pulling the trigger once will squirt out a single high-power ink shot. But you can also hold down to fire continuously. The Undercover Brella is a brella-type with lower durability but lets you fire even while the protective canopy is open. We'll continue to bring you our research on these upcoming weapons before their release.

It's finally back! This Black Friday (today!), Sheldon has a special weapon in store for Inklings with an appetite for heavy firepower. The Hydra Splatling. This puppy emits high-pressure ink like a fire extinguisher and has the longest range among Splatling-type weapons. Although it takes time to charge, the firepower will increase by charging it to the max. It comes with the Autobomb sub and Splashdown special. You can pick it up starting at 6 PM PT tonight, the same time that MakoMart opens its doors!

Attention! Clam Blitz, a fierce new Ranked Battle mode, will be added to Splatoon 2 on the evening of December 12th – Wait a sec, that's tonight! Our dedicated team of researchers have been investigating this latest phenomenon, and managed to grab some fresh new footage.
What's it all about?
In Clam Blitz, you'll find clams scattered all over the stage. Collect them, then head to your opponents' base and fire them into the enemy basket. First team to score 100 points wins!
Sounds kinda easy...
Yeah, maybe. If the enemy basket wasn't protected by an almighty clam-repelling barrier of doom! Ahem... To break through this mysterious barrier, you'll first need to create a Power Clam by rounding up 10 standard clams.
So I've got a Power Clam. Now what?
Now BOOYAH! Take aim and smash that sucker right through and fire all your clams into the basket. Breaking through the barrier will net you 20 points, while each clam you toss in after that is worth 3 points.
Will that barrier stay down for the whole match?
Not likely! As soon as you break through, it'll start to repair itself. By chucking clams in, you can extend the timer a little, but once it hits zero, the pesky thing will be back to dam your clams.
Moral of the story? As soon as you break through, toss in as many clams as you can possibly muster. It's a shellfish siege!
What if the enemy breaks through my team's barrier?
Fight back with all your might and prepare to counter-attack – once your barrier's back up, a Power Clam will appear at your basket, so you can go up the other end and give 'em what for.
Anything else I need to know?
· If you get splatted, you'll drop all the clams you were carrying
· If a teammate gets splatted, pick their clams up before the enemy does
· You can pass clams to a teammate with the A Button or L Button if you think it'll help
· If the time runs out before a team reaches 0, the team with the highest score wins
All right, I'm in. When can I start playing?
Going forward, it'll be in Ranked & League Battle rotation alongside the existing Tower Control, Splat Zones and Rainmaker modes.
And don't forget, you can record your most glorious Clam Blitz moments by holding the Capture Button, then upload the goods to social media for instant bragging rights.

Based on our recent findings, the Squeezer is a new type of shooter with multiple firing modes. Squeeze once for a single high-power ink shot. Hold down to fire continuously. So basically, an enterprising young Inkling should press repeatedly when fighting opponents and hold down when inking turf. Wonderful! Completing this kit is the Splash Wall to protect your team, and the long-range wonder known as the Sting Ray.

Like any good piece of spy equipment, the Undercover Brella is not what it seems. Our research has revealed that the canopy-launching mechanism has been removed to allow for rapid fire, and this Brella can even be fired when the canopy is open! Very surprising given that it looks like a normal umbrella to the untrained eye.
Adding to this kit is the Ink Mine and the Splashdown special. The Splashdown isn't particularly spy-like, but it does pack a surprising punch for unsuspecting Inklings. You can try it yourself when it becomes available later this evening.
