Template:Infobox mode Tower Control is a form of Ranked Battle that was released on July 1st, 2015 in Splatoon.[1]

Description

In Tower Control, two teams of four Inklings fight to control a central Tower. The Tower is a tall, blue structure with ink-able walls and a grate platform for players to stand on. When a player reaches the top of the Tower, it will begin moving on a rail toward enemy territory. If the player standing on the Tower falls off the platform or gets killed, after a short amount of time, the Tower will begin moving rapidly back to the center. Because of this gameplay element, the player on the Tower is a constant target and must be guarded by teammates on the ground.

The score is measured by how far into enemy territory a team has rode the tower. If a team manages to get the tower to the enemy goal-zone (where the score counter will reach zero indicated by a glowing floor tile) then said team will win the match, and achieve a Knockout score. If the game timer runs out with the tower in a neutral state, the team with the smallest distance number will win. If the game timer runs out and the tower is still controlled by either team, then the game will go into overtime until either the controlling team manages to get the tower to the goal-zone, or until the tower goes neutral.[2]

Strategy

If you are a roller/blaster:

It is recommended that you should be the one to stay on the tower. Rollers and Blasters deal a very large amount of damage, good for melee fighting, especially if an enemy climbs on the tower.

If you are a charger:

Stay on choke points (not the tower) and snipe those whoever try to claim the tower.

If you are a gunner:

Stay on the area around the tower and destroy those who try to get on. Only get on the tower when no one is.

Other weapons

  • Mines are effective. Put them on the tower!
  • Use that huge speaker to blast off whoever is on the tower!
  • The Kraken makes you invincible.
  • Inkstrikes must be shot a distance away from the tower, so that it will be effective.
  • Put an ink wall in front of the tower in times of pain.
  • Suction Bombs work well!

If the enemies are on the tower:

Get on the choke points and kill them from afar.

Trivia

  • When riding the tower, it will play gentle music similar to an ice cream truck's tones.
  • Tower Control was unveiled during the May 7, 2015 Splatoon-themed Nintendo Direct.
  • The release date of Tower Control was revealed on June 30th, 2015.
  • When on the tower, you can use the small pole in the middle to hide/defend yourself from enemy attacks.
  • Beacons can used On the choke points to prevent destruction.
