Appearance
The Urchins Cap is a black cap with a flat brim and a white Inkling symbol on the front. On top of the brim is a shiny black and gold sticker with the Skalop logo and on the back of the cap is a rectangular patch with a squid-like emblem in white, black, and red. Both the brim and the border around the Inkling symbol change to match the color of the wearer's ink. The hat is worn at a slight angle.
Splatoon
Abilities
The Urchins Cap comes with Bomb Range Up as the primary ability. As a 1-star item, the Urchins Cap comes with one additional slot for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail or 30,000 cash for each slot. Since it is made by the Skalop gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Quick Respawn and a lower chance of rolling Special Saver to fill its secondary ability slot.
Splatoon 2
Abilities
The Urchins Cap comes with Sub Power Up as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 2, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Headgear. As a 1-star item, the Urchins Cap comes with one additional slot for secondary abilities, which may be increased to a maximum of three slots with a Super Sea Snail for each slot. Since it is made by the Skalop gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Quick Respawn and a lower chance of rolling Special Saver to fill its secondary ability slot.
Trivia
- The symbol on the cap resembles the Japanese character う (as in うに, or "sea urchin") written backwards.
- The default color scheme of the Urchins Cap (shown in the equipment icon) is similar to an alternate cap worn by the Seattle Mariners, a baseball team formerly owned by Nintendo of America. Their name also connects to the aquatic themes of Splatoon.
- The Urchins Cap was originally called "Baseball Cap", was primarily navy blue instead of black, and had Damage Up as its primary ability.
