Hello there. thank you for your recent contributions however i have recently notice some of your recent contributions are "incorrect" or "misplaced" and i would like to show your mistakes and how i edit them so you wont do them in the future, first of all the Schedule for the Same Ol' vs. Bucket List vs. Save the Day was incorrect as the Splatfest Sneak Peek are usally announced on Fridays not Saturdays i can understand why people misplace dates and stuff however if Splatfests where announced on Saturdays the splatfests would start on Fridays which can confuse people very easily, and the second thing is your recent contribution towards :File:S3 Player Creation.mp3 when you marked it for deletion you did File:S3 Player Creation.mp3}} which is not how you would do it instead to add the files replace do this instead :File:S3 Player Creation.mp3 <-- :file: and the name of the music/image you want, i once again thank you and apologies for this very long message! Hello. Thank you for contributing to the MP3 reupload project! However, your recent uploads do not comply with the Audio guidelines. The file names should be prefixed with a game abbreviation, followed by the official name (only if there is one. Otherwise, use of a conjectural name is ok) and the bitrate should be a constant 160 kbps. Also, please only mark files for deletion once all the links to them have been replaced. I suggest looking over the music ripping guide, which gives detailed info on how to rip the audio from the game files in a way that complies with the guidelines. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! 09:58, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

:Hi @Shdwdogg0, thanks for bringing this to my attention. For the naming, I chose to stick with the original name to try and keep consistancy. My apoligies if these names didn't meet the naming guidelines. What should I do to the files that have been misnamed or have the wrong kbps? Sorry for my mistakes, 11:03, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
::No worries. You can move the incorrectly named file pages, then replace all the links with the new file name (make sure to mark the redirect page for deletion afterwards) and upload new versions of the files. 11:40, 5 May 2024 (UTC)

About deletions
Hey, when marking files for deletion, please make sure to use the "What links here" tool in the sidebar to be absolutely certain all links to a file have been fixed. In the case of the S3 tutorial .oga file you marked, it was still in use on three(!) pages because of the media loader, which doesn't show up in the standard file page usage list. Thank you! 04:52, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
:Sorry @Driftin Soul, I didn't know this was a thing and tried to change as many as I could that I knew of. Thanks for advising me on the feature , 08:54, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
Resizing images
Hi CodingAsteroid, I just wanted to let you know that resizing existing files on the wiki is not ideal. Resizing can lead to inaccuracies with individual pixels since it's kind of "guessing" what color each pixel will be, so it's best if the image is just left with the Improve Quality template until it is recaptured in native resolution. In the future, please just leave these files the way they are, unless you can retake them. Thanks! 18:11, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
:Hi FancyRat, sorry for that. I thought that simply resizing the image would be an easier and more efficient way of getting the images to thier native resoloution as it would otherwise take a lot of precision to retake the photo. I'll retake them and reupload them. 18:16, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
:Additionally, please try not to add sources to images that do not already have them unless you are reasonably certain or have verified the source in some way (usually by directly consulting the uploader). Thank you! 18:16, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
::Sorry, I normally do this but in this case it was an oversight on my part due to not having the overlay or other signs of being captured by a user. I'll try to have better judgement, 18:35, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
:::Hey, I notice you have still been adding some "self" sources to screenshots uploaded by other users. Even if this seems like a safe assumption, please try not to do it without actually verifying with the uploader in some way. If necessary, you can even upload your own version of the image for the sake of proper sourcing, even if it isn't an upgrade in quality. Thanks! 21:34, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
::::Sorry, I thought that it would be a safe assumption for some images to be created by the uploader such as gear close-ups. I've realised that a few can be improved with the in-game zoom feature also so I'll probably just make a better version and properly source it that way. Sorry about that, 21:39, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
:::::Realistically it usually is a safe assumption, but we have had issues with people uploading unsourced screenshots from Youtube videos or even stolen images that the uploader has claimed as their own, so we really try to not take anything for granted. 😅
:::::No need to worry about the Apex Sweater images btw, I just took images on my game since I happened to have it open and will replace those PNGs (which are also likely conversions from JPGs anyway, so two birds one stone). Thanks! 21:43, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
::::::Yeah, I've seen a few people upload them images myself also. Thanks for taking care of the sweater images for me.Kit one question. I know PNG is the preferred image format however when I export my switch images they are always JPG. Do you need a capture card or is it just a setting to capture native PNGs. Thanks, 07:47, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
:::::::Any captures taken with the Switch's hardware will be 1280x720 jpgs, yes; I and a handful of other editors use capture cards and associated software programs to get 1920x1080 pngs, the games' highest native resolution. Ideally pngs obtained in this manner should be used whenever reasonably possible, but there's often a bottleneck of availability in terms of number of people who can take these shots, their time to edit, and oftentimes limitations that make the best-quality shots impractical to do at the drop of a hat (for example, gear that is particularly hard to obtain, or getting cutscene screenshots without the "Skip" UI). So Switch captures are absolutely fine to use, although they should not be obtained via posting to social media if possible, as this compresses them more than any of the other available methods. 08:06, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
::::::::Ok, thanks for the info. I've been thinking of investing in a capture card for a while now but until then I'll keep capturing from the switch. I normally use the send to smartphone feature where you connect to the Nintendo Switch's wifi network and download them from there, skipping the need for twitter. Should I convert these JPGs into PNGs so that one, it is the recommended format and two, it is easier to upload a better capture card version. Or should I leave it as a JPG and it just be marked for deletion when the capture card version is uploaded? 08:15, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
:::::::::Conversion in either direction (jpg to png, png to jpg) will often lead to color inaccuracies and/or artifacting so as a rule it should not be done (hence why I wanted to replace those Apex Sweater images ASAP when I noticed them 😅). Sticking with jpgs is fine. 08:20, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
::::::::::Ok then. Thanks for all the info and help you've given me. Happy editing! 08:24, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Please keep yet to be uploaded images hidden
Hey CodeAsteroid, I saw you unhid the prepared images section soon after the new Splatfest's sneak peek started here; in the future, please don't make the entire gallery section(s) visible until the images have been uploaded. We typically only show the prepared galleries when they are in fact prepared: the red links generated when they're not ready make the article look less clean. Setting up the gallery section is part of the task of uploading those pictures; if you're not going to upload the images, there's no need to be concerned with the preemptive setup of the images' presentation hours in advance. :Hi Yoshifan52, sorry about that. I thought that by showing the gallery and uploading as many images that I could, it would make it more efficient. What I mean is people can upload images such as splatfest tees that I don't have access to. Sorry about that and I'll try to reduce the amount of red links next time. == Your Splatfest translations ==
Hi! I saw your translations on the Same Ol' vs. Bucket List vs. Save the Day page and just wanted to clarify if you speak both French, Chinese, Korean, German, and Spanish? Or you used a machine translation device (such as Google Translate) for any of those? Thanks! Milchik (talk) 15:47, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
:Hi, sorry I used deepL translate. I was unaware that you had to speak the languages to contribute. I'm only just learning the rules that aren't in the policy. Sorry about that, 21:10, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
::It's alright! But yeah, don't put in the machine translation, even if you're sure it's accurate, the wiki would rather prefer not having it instead of having a possibly inaccurate info. Though, we have editors that cover all the languages, so all the translations will be added sooner or later :) Thanks, and cheers! Milchik (talk) 21:42, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
:::Ok, thanks for the info. Can I still copy the names of things in other languages and just leave a requires translation box? Thanks, 06:24, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
::::Yeah! You can copy the untranslated names as long as they're accurate to the game, just without filling the transcription and translation. Milchik (talk) 12:44, 13 May 2024 (UTC)

About file pages
Hey, staff appreciates that you've been going through recent files and removing the "Summary" headers, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up that we can and do automate that process intermittently via a bot, so you can feel free to focus your time and effort on less menial tasks. Thanks! 17:15, 19 May 2024 (UTC)
:Ah yes! I have just seen the bot removing the headers on the Discord log. Thanks for letting me know anyways and i'll be sure to focus on more mainspace editing! 17:22, 19 May 2024 (UTC)

New Tableturf icons

Hey CodingAsteroid, I noticed you've been adding some of the new Tableturf card icons. Unfortunately, some of these are going to need to be deleted as they violate policy due to being currently unavailable in-game. The ones that are used by new opponents can stay since they are at least visible in-game even if unobtainable, but I'll be marking the other ones for deletion since we're still several days out from Fresh Season. Thank you! Driftin Soul [Talk!] 19:24, 25 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, @Driftin Soul, thanks for making me aware of this. Just a few questions: Can the card icons stay on the wiki as they have all been revealed in this tweet by @SplatoonNA: https://twitter.com/SplatoonNA/status/1759943534881144870? Also, when the fresh season starts, can your changes please be reverted? Thanks, @CodingAsteroid CodingAsteroid (talk) 16:15, 26 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In-game assets are not allowed unless they are specifically visible in-game, but the images of the cards as they appear in that tweet would be fine. We already have the Japanese versions, but you're welcome to upload the NA images as well (the file upload page can tell you how to obtain the highest quality images from Twitter, if you're not already aware). And yes, we can and definitely will be re-adding all of the icons and associated card info once Fresh Season properly starts, no worries there. :) Driftin Soul [Talk!] 02:13, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi @Driftin Soul, thanks for the clarification on the rules and I apologise for misinterpreting them. I have uploaded the NA images of the cards and they can be seen on the Fresh Season gallery. It's great to hear that the cards will be added back to the page when the season starts! Thanks for the advice, CodingAsteroid (talk) 16:13, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Using Show Preview

Hi there! I noticed you've made a lot of edits to your userpage in a short span of time. When making a bunch of changes to a single page, please use the "Show Preview" button. This allows you to see what a page will look like before you publish the edit. Fewer, larger edits are much easier for both the site and staff to handle than a bunch of small edits. Thank you!! FancyRat 14:28, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @FancyRat, thanks for the advice and i'll be sure to use it in the future. Just one question. Does this apply to my sandbox pages as well? Thanks, CodingAsteroid (talk) 14:49, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes. And since all edits to pages by anyone who isn't at least autopatrolled are marked as unpatrolled by default, we have to review those manually. FancyRat 15:09, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh ok, thanks for the info. I'll try to submit less edits with more info from now on. Thanks for all your info, CodingAsteroid (talk) 15:15, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

your recent contributions

Rūba (talk) 19:38, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Rūba, thanks for the correction on the Splatfest schedule. It was a mathematical error on my part so thank you for correcting it.
I'm a bit new here and when I was marking the page for deletion I could not figure out how to link to a file. The results I was getting were either a link to a page and not the file or the file itself. Thanks for the info on linking to a file which I will be make sure to use in the future.
Happy editing, CodingAsteroid (talk) 21:46, 3 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Your sig page

Ahoy, I have moved your sig page to your proper username for you; this should save you the trouble of having to recreate it and this way an admin won't have to step in to delete anything. Have fun! Driftin Soul [Talk!] 14:38, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ah, thank you for moving the page. I was getting an error due to the lowercase 'a' in the title and thought it had to be deleted and recreated. Just looking at the User group rights page, it says that autoconfirmed users (which I am) can move pages. Can you please tell me how to do this so that I can do it on my own? Thank you and happy editing, CodingAsteroid [Talk!] 14:53, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
If you're on desktop you can simply scroll down the sidebar on the left to "Page tools" and then you should see the "Move" option, and on mobile I believe it's under the dropdown menu for the gear icon at the top of pages; in this case I elected to do it for you because patrollers like myself can suppress the creation of redirects when moving. Otherwise, an admin would have had to step in at some point regardless to delete the leftover redirect (which is generally perfectly fine and shouldn't be seen as a reason to not move pages, just in this specific case I happened to be around and noticed). Feel free to do it yourself in the future! Driftin Soul [Talk!] 14:59, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks so much! I'll be sure to need it in the future. CodingAsteroid [Talk!] 15:02, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Recent audio uploads

Thanks! Shdwdogg0 (Talk) 09:58, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No worries. You can move the incorrectly named file pages, then replace all the links with the new file name (make sure to mark the redirect page for deletion afterwards) and upload new versions of the files. Shdwdogg0 (Talk) 11:40, 5 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yeah! You can copy the untranslated names as long as they're accurate to the game, just without filling the transcription and translation. signature Milchik (talk) 12:44, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok. Thanks for letting me know. Happy editing, CodingAsteroid [Talk!] 14:04, 13 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

About file pages

Hey, staff appreciates that you've been going through recent files and removing the "Summary" headers, but I just wanted to give you a heads-up that we can and do automate that process intermittently via a bot, so you can feel free to focus your time and effort on less menial tasks. Thanks! Driftin Soul [Talk!] 17:15, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ah yes! I have just seen the bot removing the headers on the Discord log. Thanks for letting me know anyways and i'll be sure to focus on more mainspace editing! CodingAsteroid [Talk!] 17:22, 19 May 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
