Notice: This is the last ever content update for Splatoon 2, marking the end of its 2 year life cycle. After it goes live, Nintendo will limit update broadcasting to other, minor types of software updates for this game.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • Weapon and/or ability balance adjustments
  • Game behavior/rule/parameter changes
  • Ranking, anti-cheat and/or matchmaking system tweaks
  • Title metadata updates (HOME Menu icon, Support Information, Rich Presence support, etc.)
  • Bug fixes

Version 5.0.0 is an update to Splatoon 2 that is going live in late July 2019 after the final Splatfest, Chaos vs. Order, ended on 21 July 2019.

Changes

Private Battle

Private Battle will receive a new mode called "Turf War (Splatfest)", which will function like normal Turf War but will allow the stage and ink colors to take on the look of a Splatfest. Stage selection options will include every regular stage, as well as every Shifty Station including the Chaos vs. Order layout, MC.Princess Diaries, in day or night mode. Ink color will also be customizable, with every Splatfest ink color set across all three regions being added to a list from where the host can choose from.
