The New Year's Glasses DX are headgear in Splatoon 2.
They are a 3-star item produced by SquidForce and come with the primary ability Special Charge Up. They could previously be obtained by visiting the FrostyFest news article on the Nintendo Switch News application. They can also be purchased from SplatNet 2 Gear Shop for 13,653.
Appearance
The New Year's Glasses DX are a large pair of sunglasses with purple temples and a green frame. The frame is in the shape of what seems to be the number "2019" written in Inkling, respectively. The frame contains multiple flashing lights in a variety of colors such as red, green, yellow, and blue. The lenses are opaque and possess a shiny and reflective texture.

How to obtain
The news article through which the gear could be obtained is no longer available, so the original method does not work anymore.
Original Method Used to Obtain
- Open the Nintendo Switch News application and select the article about FrostyFest.
- Select the "Play Splatoon 2" button located at the bottom of the article to start Splatoon 2.
- Open the box that appears in the middle of Inkopolis Square.
If this does not work, start over at step 1, or view the video demonstration below.
Abilities
The New Year's Glasses DX comes with Special Charge Up as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 2, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Headgear. As a 3-star item, the New Year's Glasses DX comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. Since it is made by the SquidForce gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Ink Resistance Up and a lower chance of rolling Ink Saver (Main) to fill its secondary ability slots.

Trivia
- Despite being a limited item not available in Headspace, the New Year's Glasses DX can still be ordered from Murch. This functionality is shared with the other headgear from FrostyFest, the Eel-Cake Hat, Festive Party Cone, and Twisty Headband.
- Based on their SplatNet 2 price, it can be deduced that the normal price of the New Year's Glasses DX would be 9,102 if they were purchasable from Headspace rather than obtained from the Nintendo Switch news channel. "9102" is 2019 written backwards, which is around the time FrostyFest took place.
