Ink Resistance Up is an ability in Splatoon and Splatoon 2. It mitigates the negative effects of touching the opponent's ink on the ground. Negative effects alleviated by Ink Resistance Up include reduced jump height, reduced movement speed, and accumulation of damage. The ability stays active throughout the entire match, and is used any time the player steps on enemy ink.

Quicker movement in enemy ink is especially helpful for the Inkbrush and Octobrush, to move quickly even when turning sharply. Weapons that let the player strafe fast like the Sloshing Machine and Mini Splatling also benefit from Ink Resistance Up, as small patches of enemy ink will not slow down movement as much.

Applicable gear

Ink Resistance Up cannot be rolled as an ability for sub slots on gear.

Ink Resistance Up improves the mobility of Inklings stepping or swimming in enemy ink. It also reduces the damage taken from stepping in or swimming through enemy ink. Normally, touching enemy ink will accumulate up to 50 damage at a rate of 30 damage per second. But with Ink Resistance Up, only 30 damage can accumulate, and at a rate of 12 damage per second.

Players appear on the mini-map if they accumulate 30.1 damage or more. Because only 30 passive ink damage can accumulate with Ink Resistance Up, the player will not show up to enemies on the mini-map after stepping on or swimming through enemy ink; the player would have to take damage from another source to show up. Mutual Exclusivity

This ability is found as the main ability only on shoes, so other abilities found only on shoes are mutually exclusive with it; in other words players cannot have them together. These abilities are Bomb Sniffer and Stealth Jump.

In Splatoon 2, Ink Resistance Up is no longer a primary-only ability, and can also appear in secondary slots, making it stackable. SquidForce SquidForce gear has a 5× chance of rolling this ability, while Enperry Enperry gear has a 1/2× chance. Furthermore, it can also appear as a primary ability on gear other than shoes.

Ink Resistance Up neutralizes up to 100% of the mobility penalty from touching enemy ink. Ink Resistance Up also reduces the maximum damage that accumulates from stepping in enemy ink. Ink Resistance Up can bring this damage cap from 40 damage to as low as 35 damage. The rate of damage accumulation is reduced so that the damage cap will always be reached in 1.5 seconds.

Ink Resistance Up increases the movement speed of an Inkling in the opponent's Ink while walking or strafing, but not while swimming. The mobility benefits also apply while attacking with a weapon, while rolling with a roller, and while charging a splatling or charger.
