When purchased from SplatNet 3, they come with any other primary ability normally available to Shoes. As a 1-star item, the Moto Boots come with two additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of them from Crush Station for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Trivia

  • According to the first datamines, the Moto Boots would have Quick Super Jump as their main ability. This was changed before release.
  • At one point in Splatoon's development, Octolings' footwear looked very similar to the Moto Boots, with three straps on the side and pieces of metal on the end. This was briefly shown in a pre-release trailer for Octo Valley.[1]
