The Blu-Shift Moto Boots are a pair of shoes in Splatoon 3.

They are a 2-star item produced by Rockenberg and come with the primary ability Swim Speed Up. They must first be unlocked through leveling up the Chill Season 2022 Catalog to level 55, then they can be purchased from Crush Station for Cash 12,000. They can only be ordered from another player after being unlocked.

Appearance

The Blu-Shift Moto Boots are a pair of professional motocross boots. Mostly pitch black, the shoes consist of numerous parts of various texture and material. The first layer seems to be dark blue, covered by black armor. Then two metallic blue straps, the smaller on the vamp and the larger around the wearer's calf, finish the whole construction. A few bare metal elements can be seen, such as screws on the upper strap, a small triangle on the outer side and the chunky outsole.

Abilities

The Blu-Shift Moto Boots comes with Swim Speed Up as the primary ability when purchased from a shop or ordered from Murch. When purchased from SplatNet 3, it comes with any other primary ability normally available to Shoes. As a 2-star item, the Blu-Shift Moto Boots comes with three additional slots for secondary abilities. The star level may be increased with Super Sea Snails for 1 (first), 1 (second), 5 (third), 10 (fourth), or 20 (fifth) Super Sea Snails per star, or by purchasing additional copies of it from Crush Station for 10,000 (first), 30,000 (second), 50,000 (third), 100,000 (fourth), or 200,000 (fifth) Cash per star. Increasing the star level beyond 2 stars will increase the gear experience gained by a cumulative 3.333…% up to 10% additional experience at 5-star level. Since it is made by the Rockenberg gear brand, it has a higher chance of rolling Run Speed Up and a lower chance of rolling Swim Speed Up to fill its secondary ability slots.

Trivia

  • In the Italian translation of the game, prior to Version 3.0.0 the Blu-Shift Moto Boots shared their name with the Blue Moto Boots from Splatoon and Splatoon 2 ("Stivali da moto blu").
    • The name was then changed into "Stivali da moto cobalto" (Cobalt moto boots) because Blue Moto Boots were added back to the game with the release of Version 3.0.0.

Etymology

"Blueshift" is a scientific phenomenon where sources of light moving toward a viewer at near-relativistic speeds appear bluer in hue due to the decrease in wavelength and increase in frequency of electromagnetic waves.
