Inkling with an Ink Roller

The Ink Roller is one of the Main Weapons in Splatoon. It comes with the Sprinkler and Ink Launcher. It appears to work differently from other weapons in the game, not function as a projectile but rather as a trail of paint that forms slightly ahead of the player.

The paint roller serves as a melee weapon and appears to give the user a better speed than other weapons. It seems as if it has another way to attack with it, possibly adding range. Not only is it to form a trail of paint, but instantly splattering a player.
