Splatoon is a manga series available though the CoroCoro Comic (コロコロコミック) Special Magazines[1], made by Hinodeya Sankichi.[2]
Summary
The manga stars Goggles-Kun and his three friends: Headphones-Chan, Glasses-Kun, and Knit Cap (Bobble)-Chan. This kid-friendly manga uses the Splatoon rules and world and the action on the arena, developing on Turf Wars.
Plot
Most plots focus primarily on male Inklings.

Issue 1
The four main squids, Goggles-Kun, Headphones-Chan, Knit Cap-Chan and Glasses-Kun, become involved in a troublesome Turf War after Goggles pranks a leader of an S+ squad.
This is the first time we see Goggles attempt to swim in water. He dissolves and returns to the spawn point. The stage in which the match takes place is Arowana Mall.
Released in December's CoroCoro Special Magazine in 2015.
Issue 2
The Blue Team learn that they will battle the Orange Team Army with S+ ranked Inklings. When the battle begins and the Orange Team takes the lead with ease, the Blue Team find an unexpected weakness that the Orange Team has which allows the lead.
Curry was seen in this issue. The stage is Flounder Heights.
Released in April's CoroCoro Special Magazine in 2016.
Issue 3
Taking a break from battling against S+ ranked squids, Goggles-Kun gets his clothes damaged during a Turf War and has to go shopping for new gear, but someone is watching him from afar: Aloha!
Pickled plums were seen in this issue.

Issue 4
While in a battle with Aloha and his team, Goggles and Glasses get in a fight, but soon after team up and take down Aloha.
This is the first time we see Glasses' special weapon: an Inkzooka, which is the wrong special weapon for an Octobrush. Therefore, it is probably an Octobrush Nouveau.
This is the second time Inklings are seen attempting to swim in water, this time being the Blue Team. Unlike in the actual game, they do not dissolve in water, but rather sink to the bottom.
Its original date of release was going to be August, but it was released on June 30th's CoroCoro Special Magazine in 2016 instead.

Battle to Become the Best Squid in the World!!!
Battle to Become the Best Squid in the World!!! is a series of translated Splatoon issues that is made by Vectorcrest. (Note: They thought the fan made issue was the first so it reads 2, 3, 4, and 5)
Characters
Blue Team*
A group of apparently idiotic Inklings who are the main protagonists of the series. They don a blue ink color. This team consists of four members:
- Goggles-Kun, a C- male Inkling who sports Pilot Goggles, an Armor Jacket Replica and Hero Runner Replicas. He seems to be the leader and his trait is clueless[3]. Goggles-Kun takes on Shooter weapons, having a Tentatek Splattershot set.
- Headphones-Chan, a B- female Inkling who sports Studio Headphones, a B-ball Jersey (Away), and Red Work Boots. Her trait is sister (despite that being a job) and takes on Charger weapons, wielding a Classic Squiffer.
- Glasses-Kun, a C+ male Inkling who sports Retro Specs. a Shirt & Tie, and Red Hi-Tops. His trait is expert and takes on Inkbrush (Roller) weapons, having a Octobrush Nouveau set (Octobrush prior to issue 4).
- Knit Cap-Chan (or, in mistaken translations, Bobble-Chan), a C female Inkling who sports a Bobble Hat, a Green Zip Hoodie, and some Purple Sea Slugs. Her trait is cutie and takes on Slosher weapons, wielding the Slosher.
S4
An S+ group, being considered "god-like".
- Orange Team Army*
- Army (Taichou), a character who's only appearance was in Issue 2. His intended voice sounds like this. He uses the N-ZAP '85 set.
- Pink Team*
- Aloha, a character who first appears in the fourth issue (as Jungle-Kun, revealed true idenity at the end). He, along with his team, were defeated by the Blue Team*. He uses the .52 Gal.
Rating
Since the manga is published in the CoroCoro Special Magazines, it is child-friendly. However, there are some brief scenes of comical nudity in the comic. Furthermore, the manga is easy to read, even if the reader does not know Japanese. The manga itself has a good dose of comedy and a nice representation of the Splatoon rules, world, and action.

When an unnamed Inkling said that the yellow team will be the victors, an early Glasses said that their team have the strongest Inklings. Early-Goggles mistakes Inklings for a squid dish, calamari, saying "The strongest inkrings?! you mean they're gonna eat us?"

Naked Goggles Gag
There is a running gag in this manga where Goggles-Kun ends up naked.
Battle color combinations
There are color combinations that are strange and do not even appear in Splatoon.
Seen
- Blue vs. Green. This does not exist in the game but there is a blue vs. lime color match.
- Blue vs. Pink. This is supposed to be for the battle against Aloha, but there was a turquoise vs pink match. It is impossible to match these colors in-game.
