Happy Few-Days-Before-Splatfest!

Happy few-days-before-Splatfest! Has anybody had the idea yet to make a chat thread that is to be used only during splatfests all about splatfests? Or maybe a Splatfest debate thread where both teams go head to head and debate which team is better and why? O.O My random ideas of the day --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 00:51, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You could do a blog about it. Blogs don't see much use here (that's my fault as much as anyone else's, heh), but this seems like a good topic for one. 🌟 --Bzeep! talk 01:05, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Cool, although I probably shouldn't make it if it won't get that much attention... --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 01:11, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Nooooooo do itttttt
If nothing else, I will provide the attention

Um... Read the blog, how do I make new pages? I'm totally useless --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 22:50, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  1. Go to splatoonwiki.org/wiki/Blog:(The title you wanna make it)
  2. Create the page, put what you want on it
  3. Sign with squiggles so people know it's yours
  4. u did it
--Bzeep! talk 23:01, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Done! Please tell me if it's okay... --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 23:48, 30 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What Now?

I've been adding to the ability pages and gear pages... What should I do next? I feel so useless, everyone already knows what to do. :P --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 12:35, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hmmm.... --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 02:20, 26 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh sorry, just saw this now. Well if you can't think of anything to do, it's not like you have to. Just do whatever comes to mind at the moment, yknow. --Bzeep! talk 23:17, 25 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Should I help fill out the recommended ability section for each weapon? --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 02:20, 26 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, whatever you wanna do. 😛 --Bzeep! talk 04:18, 26 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Another Question

So, I normally access Inkipedia from my mobile device or tablet, and I've been having trouble uploading pictures, because I want to put a few on my user page. Does anybody know how to upload photos to the wiki from a device? --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 21:31, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Looks like it works the same as desktop, just uploaded Bzeep's userpage thing 6.jpg from an iPod Touch (betcha haven't seen one of those since, like, 2013 😉). Push the button, it asks for an image, take one or choose from your photo thing, yknow. --Bzeep! talk 22:27, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yeah, so I just took a picture of my Inkling on my very old iPad as I was playing Splatoon, and so I need a URL of some sort? I'm not very good with technology obviously. --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 22:47, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Naw just press the thing that says "choose file" and it'll ask for it. --Bzeep! talk 22:56, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Phew! Finally got it! --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 23:49, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
👍 --Bzeep! talk 23:58, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How Should I Help?

So, I've been looking around Inkipedia at all of the pages. Is there anything I should do to help edit them? Where should I start? PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 15:25, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Well, the Current projects list always has stuff to do. The easiest (and most visible) are the ones about recommended sections and gear pages. Just look at the examples given, find a page that doesn't meet the standards, and knock yourself out. Uh.. within normal limits, of course. And Maintenance has a bunch of things, too.
Oh and you'd get a lot more visibility for questions and stuff if you post them on the Ink Pump. Cuz even though I incessantly hover around the recent edits, most people.. yknow... probly don't.
except for whatever other patrollers are looking at this

--Bzeep! talk 22:27, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay. Getting to work, then! :D --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 22:48, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ayyy I'm pretty sure my edits are horrible. I'm not the best with descriptions. --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 22:28, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Aw don't worry about it man. Just follow the policy stuff and do your best, it'll be okay. Even if you do mess up or forget something, somebody'll take care of it. 🌼 cough cough thank you azoth --Bzeep! talk 23:13, 23 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
But seriously, are my edits okay? --PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 00:19, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yesssss you're fine. If nobody says anything or undoes your stuff, assume you're all good. That's what I do, at least. --Bzeep! talk 00:57, 24 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help?

Okay, I'm really confused. I don't know how to work anything on the wiki, how this operates, and I'm horrible at Splatoon. I need some serious, serious help and advice.PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 02:49, 21 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkkeReply[reply]

Yeah the wiki can look complicated and weird at first, but it's really pretty simple. There's just two kinds of pages you need to worry about. The first is the main articles (or "mainspace"), stuff like... White Tee, Moray Towers, jellyfish, yknow. The second is Inkipedia stuff, like user pages, projects, etc. They both work the same, just hit "edit" up at the top to make changes. If you want, there's a bunch of thing to read in Help:Contents and more on MediaWiki, but here's my quick little rundown on how to add good stuff:
  • Always write in third person, no contractions.
  • Keep the aesthetics of a page in mind.
  • Lurk around other people's edits, it'll help you get a good feel for things.
  • Double check your edits! I forget this a lot haha
  • If you're not sure about something, ask about it on the Ink Pump or on the appropriate person's talk page.
Uh... as for not being good at Splatoon, get a real easy weapon and just keep playing Turf War til you feel comfortable with it. For me, that weapon's the Aerospray RG. It gets a bad rap, but it's easy to do well with.
So yeah. 😛 --Bzeep! talk 04:39, 21 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks! Looks like I just need to practice more. PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 14:14, 21 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]

Periwinkle reminds me of myself from when I was new to this site, back in July. If you need any help, you could come to my talk page and ask me anything that's concerning you. Stay fresh! --Sigma talk 15:08, 21 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, I think I've realized part of my problem. I seem to be splatted more in games than other inklings... My favorite weapon to use is the neo splash-o-matic, and I feel pretty comfortable with it, although I think super jumping into bad places has become a habit of mine. That, or I'm just a really bad player and I'm doomed to never be good at this, lol. But thanks for all of the helpful tips so far- I'll keep practicing and I hope to comtribute to the wiki more! PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 22:26, 21 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
Hey, Periwinkle, if you'd like, I could add a Splatfest section to your page if you give me your teams and Splatfest titles. Oh, also, you could friend me and I could show you a few tips n' tricks in Splatoon. :) --Sigma talk 22:54, 21 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
That sounds great, thanks! I started playing in late august- my first splatfest would've been Autobots vs. Deceptions, but I missed that one, and not by choice. Then I was a Science Champion, Plane Fiend, and finally a Pirate Queen. There should be another Splatfest soon, correct? They happen about once a month, I've noticed... PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 23:04, 21 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
I honestly don't know how I manage to do it- I was splatted five times in my last round of Turf War. Does anybody have any suggestions or useful strategies for a user of a shooter weapon? PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 23:28, 21 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
If you don't feel like you're getting the hang of it, try watching a bunch of gameplay of people who really got it down. I recommend SkyTrax and Relados, cuz they don't talk (thank god). Before I even got the game, I was totally hooked on gameplay videos, so when I finally started playing it wasn't that hard. Uh... here's some stuff I learned that some players seem to not know:
  • When climbing a wall, mash X, you'll go faster.
  • Try to swim as much as possible. the only time you should be walking and not shooting is if you're on a grate.
  • Swim Speed and Ink Recovery are surprisingly helpful. Forget Damage Up unless you're using a Charger. (And you're good at it.)
  • Super Jumping should be used strategically - don't give your enemies a free splat. Unless it's Tower Control, hah.
  • Be crafty. Put subs and specials in pleaces enemies have to go through, hide in little puddles of Ink or on walls for surprise attacks, sneak around enemies when they're making a push, yknow. Furthermore, be a pain in the butt. I've found it's easiest to do with the Custom Splattershot Jr. (or anything else with Disruptors probly, but I like the CSJ).
--Bzeep! talk 00:29, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just tried Bzeep's strategy about swimming as much as possible and trying to be crafty- didn't go so well the first time. I guess I have to keep at it a little more. I think I'm having trouble with my burst bombs as well... Although I love the Inkzooka! PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 00:38, 22 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
Also, my current gear- Neo Splash-o-Matic, Special Forces Beret with opening gambit, special duration up, and two quick super jumps, a White Sailor Suit with Ink Saver Main, two special duration ups, and a defense up, and Punk Cherries with bomb sniffer, run speed up, attack up, and special duration up. PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 00:50, 22 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
Hmm... Burst Bombs are better for mobility than anything else imho, like with the E-liter. The Splash is pretty mobile to begin with, so I don't know if the Burst Bombs are really the best sub for it. But yeah, the Inkzooka's super fun. Speaking of which, here's a little tip: you can get a maximum of six shots from the Zooka, so if an enemy uses it, listen for how many times they fire. If it reaches six, you're in the clear after that.
As for your gear, I'd ditch Opening Gambit. The gear that has it is all really cute and it is pretty nice in the first thirty seconds, but for the rest of the battle it's completely useless. And Ink Saver Main's a good all-around ability to have, but I'd replace Bomb Sniffer with something else, too. It does come in handy sometimes, but you're better off practicing noticing bombs and stuff yourself so you can uh... be the Bomb Sniffer.
Some other abilities to consider - for main and sub where applicable - are Special Charge Up (so you can use that Zooka more... or whatever else you got), Ink Resistance Up (it's surprising how much this helps), Cold Blooded (improves stealthiness), Swim Speed Up (nyoom), and Comeback (kinda similar to Opening Gambit, but not as limited and really good in Ranked).
Hope it helps. :B --Bzeep! talk 01:03, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Time to hit the shops, then! Thanks so much for the advice! I'd do anything to improve that Inkzooka. :) PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 01:12, 22 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]

Aw you're welcome! Hopefully you'll find some stuff that works for you. ✨ --Bzeep! talk 01:21, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Here's what I came up with- I added slots to my rodeo shirt, which has quick super jump and will earn me some ink saver abilities in the future. My punk whites have special charge up, run speed up, special saver, and quick super jump, and I just ordered the Octoglasses from Spyke. That should have last-ditch effort and some special related abilities. PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 01:25, 22 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
Kay, lemme know if they help you out. --Bzeep! talk 01:30, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also, if the Neo Splash doesn't have the best sub setup, what weapon should I take? I'm terrible with anything besides a shooter or brush, and I really enjoy the Inkzooka... PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 01:32, 22 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
Hrm... well, that was just my opinion, some people can really rock the Burst Bombs. But if you're having trouble with em and can stand to give up the Inkzooka, I'd say try the regular Splash. You might find the Suction Bombs easier, and Bomb Rush is pretty dang fun sometimes. If you still want an Inkzooka though, give the Tentatek Splattershot a go. Or the Aerospray MG. Or the Forge Splattershot Pro. Whichever one you like best. --Bzeep! talk 01:40, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I really like the Zooka... I think I'm going to give the Forge Pro a go. I feel like those point sensors could come in handy. The range is far and the fire rate is a little slower than I'm used to, but it has decent accuracy and the point sensors. Let's try a turf war and see how it goes. :) PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 01:46, 22 November 2015 (UTC)PeriwinkleReply[reply]
Nope. That didn't go to well. Lol, time to give the MG a try. :) PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 01:52, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Love the Aerospray MG! It's got the Zooka, and the seekers are so much fun- they'll come in handy during ranked. Also, I just got a special saver on my rodeo shirt! :D PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 02:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh good! You feel like you're gettin the hang of things? --Bzeep! talk 02:57, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Slowly but surely. The gear is helping. :) PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 12:33, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
😎👍 --Bzeep! talk 12:39, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Well, my ranked battle skill is better, but still not as good as it should be. PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 15:22, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks for the help! PeriwinklePanther32 (talk) 20:37, 22 November 2015 (UTC)Reply[reply]
