OrderSquid38 (talk | contribs | logs) Hi, I am requesting for patroller rights. I've been on Inkipedia for almost 2 years now, and I've had a lot of editing experience since. I think I've finally decided that I want to be a patroller. Below are a list of pros and cons if I become a patroller.

Pros

• I've been on this wiki for quite some time and have learned a lot of editing skills. I also have over 1000 mainspace edits.
• I have encountered vandals before and know how to deal with them
• I help a lot with Korean translations
• I am active on discord during times I can (see cons)
• I will use patroller tools such as rollback correctly.
• I will try be active on this wiki more frequently during the days I can edit

Cons

• Since I have school, I will be partially offline during most of the weekdays due to schoolwork being an obstacle to my activeness. (Even though I won't be able to edit as much during the weekdays I will certainly be able to check the wiki often)
• Because of my frequent absences I may not be the best patroller to be notified when something happens if something happens such as policy proposals.
• Although I will be able to check the wiki I am completely offline from Discord during the weekdays so my talkpage is the only way to contact me during those days
• If yall think I'm not fit for this position I'm fine with being an autopatrolled user.

Btw, I am fully active until August 15, which is the day school starts for me. I will also be active frequently during the weekends it's just the weekdays that are the problem.

Support

1. OrderSquid has been editing since August 2021. The edit counter shows that OrderSquid has made 1230 mainspace edits, and that mainspace edits make up 65% of OrderSquid's total edits. Those are very good edit stats. When I reviewed OrderSquid's recent edits, I found most were high quality, and when I found an error, I found that OrderSquid was quick to respond to my talk page inquiry about the error, and the response properly acknowledged the error and promised to not make that type of mistake going forward. All editors make mistakes, and it's great to know that OrderSquid handles mistakes well. OrderSquid is an exemplary editor, and more than ready for patroller rights. • Can you provide a little more clarity on what you mean when you say despite not being able to be active during the week, you will be able to "check the wiki"? Does this include monitoring recent changes and utilizing patroller tools as necessary? Or will you only be able to monitor externally and not be able to utilize tools during the week at any capacity? In addition to this, do you plan to communicate purely through talk pages during the week in the event you need to contact the administrative team and do not have access to discord? I would imagine being accessible as a patroller is very important so your lack of activity during the week is concerning, but at the same time, if the time that you are able to contribute to the wiki is spent making use of patroller tools, then I am inclined to be more supportive. But if taking on patroller responsibilities is going to disrupt your academics, then it may be worth considering how much time you can properly dedicate to the task, and how much of that time will be making use of patroller tools. χεν (talk) 16:50, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
  • I meant that even though school exists for me I'm still able to check recent changes and use the patroller tools during times I'm available (ex. Before I go to school, sometimes when I'm at the school, etc.) Although less edits may be made I will still try my best to utilize the patroller tools more.   • @Xev: According to Inkipedia:Requests for Rights, candidates requesting rights are considered active if they edit at least once a week. OrderSquid meets this requirement; OrderSquid often edits much more than that. There are many wikis in the world for editors to edit, and many real-life responsibilities to attend to; for these reasons, I think editing Inkipedia once a week or more is a good indicator that someone is considered active on Inkipedia.     • @Heddy: Got it, was unsure of whether or not activity requirements were different/changed for patrollers but I understand now and will keep this in mind for future RfRs.
