The third character

The character on Disc 3 is likely Mr. Grizz as he appears during the Alterna Space Center sequence, hidden in promotional materials to avoid spoilers. Just a silly little goose ^.^ (talk | contribs) 06:31, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

thats what i was thinking, as the brown fur, and even the purple ooze can be seen, should this be stated in the article? LakePuddle 🗩 🖉 23:36, 4 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Translations for 上げ潮ノッテモーテル and 辛酸ナメマンタ

Since nobody has done anything yet, I thought maybe I should put in my two cents:

  • 上げ潮ノッテモーテル: "Popular Rising Tide Rider"
    • 上げ潮ノッテ comes from "上げ潮に乗って", meaning "riding the rising tide" (smooth sailing).
    • モーテル may be a play on "モテる", meaning "to be popular" (typically with the opposite gender).
  • 辛酸ナメマンタ: "Hardship-Ridden Manta"
    • 辛酸ナメマンタ is a wordplay on "辛酸を嘗めました", meaning "experienced hardship" (literally: "tasted the sweets and bitters").
    • マンタ is "manta", a reference to Big Man's species and Japanese name.

I should clarify that I am not a native Japanese speaker and hopefully someone else who is can step in. Harimaron (talk) 12:39, 19 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Interview

The soundtrack isn't coming out until two days before the Mario Movie comes out in Japan. But in a promotional picture, we get a spoiler for the interview. It appears to be between Marie, Marina, and Big Man. This is what I was able to translate:

"Marie (Squid Sisters) x Marina (Off the Hook) x Big Man (Deep Cut)

Marie: Marina, this is your first time meeting Big Man from Deep Cut, right?

Marina: I was a fan of Deep Cut's songs, but I didn't know them in person."

I'm not an expert, but there is more that is cropped out, so I can't translate that.

Composer credits column

It would be nice if we had a dedicated column for crediting composers, on both this album and all others. In order to make room for it, I suggest putting both Japanese kanji and their romanizations in the same column. It would take up more vertical space, but free up horizontal space. I propose just putting a break after the kanji and having the romaji in the same box. But if anyone else has better ideas for how to format this, let me know. It'll be a few weeks before I can act on this plan for every album, so let's talk about the best way to achieve this. HLRxxKarl (talk) 21:58, 27 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Personally I would like to suggest using footnotes to indicate the composers in order to save space. Harimaron (talk) 09:34, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
But wouldn't that still force readers to jump to the bottom of the page in order to find what they're looking for? That's not a lot better than the existing system for previous albums. I want for it to be as easy as possible for people to see a composer's name right next to the in-game artist.
Does putting kanji and romaji in the same column really create any problems that we should avoid? I'd think it would create more space than it would take up. HLRxxKarl (talk) 14:54, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Interview translation

In the interview translation, Marina says "I noticed that the main melody and the harmony are reversed in the middle of this song. Does this have something to do with the title of the song, "Smeared Canvas"?". This is incorrect as the English name, Smeared Canvas, has nothing to do with things being reversed. However, the Japanese name (according to its page) is "Reversed Fate Rolling Stone", which does make sense for Marina's quote. I think we need a note or something similar, but I do not know how to implement this. OE Icon Sanitized Octoling.pngWalrusSO Icon Gushing Trionfale.png(talk) 05:44, 12 May 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
