Just for my own reference (and other people, if anyone needs to know this kind of thing), here are what I perceive to be the natural resolutions of different image types. If I'm wrong please let me know, there are always going to be exceptions to these. And these aren't necessary the resolutions to the original versions of these images, just the ones released to the public

& here are the official image guidelines just so i dont have to keep searching for them

Splatoon

  • Screenshots are at 1280 x 720 on the TV screen, and appear to be 854 x 480 on the Gamepad. Promotional screenshots are sometimes larger than this.
  • Splatfest artwork does not seem to have a specific resolution.
  • Splatfest team artwork and team tees artwork are both at 960 x 540.
  • Splatfest win screens appear to be 2000 x 1000. However, many appear to have parts cut off; in that case they are often 1400 x 500.
  • The weapon renders used when announcing new weapons on social media are at 1280 x 720.
  • Gear icons are at 128 x 128.
  • Weapon icons seem to be 296 x 228, but many are also found in 128 x 128. Need to research this more
  • Miiverse posts are at 320 x 120.

Splatoon 2

  • Screenshots are naturally at at 1920 x 1080, and are at 1280 x 720 when taken with the in-game screen capture. Promotional screenshots are sometimes larger than this.
  • Many promotional images and renders with backgrounds are at 1920 x 1080.
  • Splatfest artwork does not seem to have a specific resolution.
  • The Final Fest character artwork is at 1414 x 2000.
  • The Squid Sisters Stories images seem to be 1785 x 1170.
  • Many square images from Instagram and Facebook seem to be 2000 x 2000.
  • Gear icons are at 256 x 256.
  • Weapon icons are at 256 x 256.
  • Splatfest team artwork with text and Splatfest win screens are at 2000 x 1000, but can be found in many different sizes as well.
  • Splatfest team artwork without text is usually found in SplatNet 2 and is at 910 x 540.
  • The weapon renders used when announcing new weapons on social media are at 1920 x 1080.
  • Online posts are at 320 x 120.

Splatoon 3

  • Screenshots are naturally at at 1920 x 1080, and are at 1280 x 720 when taken with the in-game screen capture. Promotional screenshots are sometimes larger than this.
  • Many promotional images are at 1920 x 1080.
  • Many square images from Instagram and Facebook seem to be 2000 x 2000.
  • Deep Cut Splatfest artwork is at 1500 x 2122 for the standard images, and 2000 x 2000 for the square versions. It is possible that the standard images may actually be bigger, as File:S3 Splatfest artwork Rock vs Paper vs Scissors.jpg is larger and does not seem to suffer in quality.
  • Splatfest team artwork with text and Splatfest win screens are at 1920 x 1080, but can be found in many different sizes as well.
  • Splatfest team artwork without text is usually found in SplatNet 3 and is at 1,740 x 680.
  • The weapon renders used when announcing new weapons on social media are at 1920 x 1080.
  • Gear icons are at 256 x 256.
  • 2D weapon icons are at 256 x 256 in the base game. Starting with the Chill Season 2022 update, new weapons will be 400 x 400. However, starting with Sizzle Season 2023, these 400 x 400 icons will be somewhat blurry. Clearer versions exist for the Side Order weapons, which are found in the palette information of SplatNet 3, and are separate from the blurry ones used for multiplayer.
  • 3D weapon icons are at 400 x 400.
  • Online posts are at 320 x 120.
