From Inkipedia, the Splatoon wiki

I'm not really in the mood at the moment to write too much about myself (you can learn more about me on my tumblr, more specifically the about page) but there's some information you won't find within my current online presence that's worth noting.

As said over there, my NNID is Zaptap, but unless we're friends or need to add each other to play together, I prefer people to only follow me. I'm part of the squad Get Kraken.

Oh and I've taken a total of 4 years of Japanese (2 in high school, 2 in college, so nothing too advanced though I was in JNHS in high school so I'm at least good with what I've learned) so those skills will come in handy if I ever need to edit a names in other languages section or if there's another thing like SplatNet that's only in Japanese for 2 months. I'm nowhere near good enough to be fluent, so most of the time if it's spoken Japanese I won't know the meaning (apart from short phrases and a word here and there), but I'm usually able to translate text using Denshi Jisho, Capture2Text (if the text in question is on my computer), a kanji recognition app (if it's not), and some time. In fact one time I translated 4 chapters of Pokemon Special, and that was before I was done with my second year of high school Japanese. If you've read the last four HGSS chapters and they were called a "rough scanlation" and were by Golden Pidgeot, that was me (goldenpidgeot was the url of my Pokemon blog at the time, though now it redirects to megapidgeot--that was the only mega url I managed to grab the day we found out about Mega Evolutions, so after it became canon I didn't want it to go to waste). I kind of want to go back and make a better version but I just haven't gotten around to it. So yeah, the purpose of this whole paragraph is just to say that if you ever have a simple-ish Japanese question, I'm one of the people you can ask.

Probably going to add info about my Splatoon stats later, but here's some basics. I'm level 37, I'm A- (got super close to A once but my squad kept getting matched up against S/S+ teams whenever a lot of us were close to ranking up). I mainly use the gold Aerospray, but that has nothing to do with thinking it's the best or anything, it's because I noticed a huge increase in points when I started using it (I think the most I've gotten was 1660, no win bonus) and I've never gotten close to that with another weapon. People seem to consider it one of the worst weapons, but for me it's been one of the best. This could be because Turf War is my favorite mode so I stick to it a lot (I mainly play ranked in a squad), but it's worked well for me in Tower Control too (ink mine + inkstrike seems to be the easiest for me to build a strategy with there, and no other weapon has that). I mostly play Splat Zones and Rainmaker in private rooms, since if I'm clearly better at one ranked mode the logical strategy is to only let that one affect my rank.

Wiki Experience

I started the BZPower Comics Wiki (a wiki dedicated to provide information on various fan comics on the Bionicle fansite BZPower, as I was closely involved with making comics there for about four years). If you decide to look it up, there are some things you should be aware of. I ran this from 2008 to sometime in 2011 (maybe a little into 2012), after which point I became inactive (from the wiki as well as BZPower itself), and the rest of the staff who were still around followed not long afterward. I'm saying this to make it clear what I did there isn't too recent, I only bring it up to point out I have had some wiki experience, though as it's been a while I'm going to need to refresh my memory on all the coding and such. I'm not even trying to say I want to be on the staff here; I know from experience it can be hard work (though there's more of you here) and I doubt I'll be editing consistently enough anyway.

Additionally, I assume a result of our collective inactivity made the Wikkii-hosted version cease to exist (since it will no longer load), so only the Wikia one is accessible now--though I never knew the specifics of how that worked, as it was all handled by one of my moderators (I think I promoted him to an admin afterward because he worked so hard on everything). By the way, our staff terminology differed from what's used here (and likely other wikis) since we were all used to being on a forum, so just be aware in that context "admin" means someone with all of the rights and "moderator" is somewhat lesser, I assume equivalent to administrator here, possibly combined with patroller, because there was nothing below it.

Anyway, we were pretty successful in the time we were actually doing things--just about everyone with a current comic series on BZPower was adding information about their work, or others', and we eventually got a pinned topic in the comics subforum. The nature of the subject was a bit different than Inkipedia, as the content that could be added largely came from its own "official" source, the comic creator themselves, of which there were many. So it was a little more chaotic in nature and it was kind of impossible to have a complete collection of information, but hey, I was 13 when I started it and it seemed like a fun idea. Maybe if we had more than a few active staff members (or even just more than a half dozen total) it'd still be around today.

I haven't talked about that in a while because that phase of my life has been over for years, but it's relevant now so there it is. I joined here because I've been super into Splatoon lately and use the wiki a lot, and there are some cases where I see a small mistake or feel there's information that should be there but isn't and it finally occurred to me that I could make an account and do that myself.

Another source to contact or follow me is my twitter. Most of my squad follows me there so I've recently decided to use it for my random short Splatoon thoughts. I use the Wii U Image Share service to post screenshots to both my twitter and my tumblr.

btw i usually talk like this online, without much capitalization or punctuation to keep up my Cool Casual Aesthetic but bc im obviously not gonna do that for wiki editing im just writing this page like this to give a better idea of what i can do. the exception is all the first person and contractions but this is a user page so

(yes ive read the rules, and theyre mostly things i already knew to follow. im used to following stricter rules actually; we had to adhere to bzp's child-friendly rules in order for it to be ok to link to us from there since the advertising rules were super strict. you couldn't even say the word "youtube" let alone link to it, though i think they changed that after i left. im not exactly super used to it now since it's been over 3 years since ive been on there, but still)

anyway again idk how active i'll be, i don't imagine it'll be too much but there's some info about me for when i am doing something
