Sourcing in file template
Hey, it's come to my attention certain file uploads of yours (such as this one and this one, among others) lack a source, and have clear signs of having been photoshopped, rather than being official promotional images; where did you find these images?
Additionally certain more recent file uploads of yours lack proper sourcing; images such as this one are to be categorized with |Source=self rather than none or "Splatoon game files." as you've input. Yoshifan52 (talk) 00:25, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- 1. I am not an expert at wiki editing, categorizing and stuff, I just grab most images from the games files and that's it.
- 2. Those aren't photoshopped images, those came from Nintendo Line account. Unfortunately, there is no way of verifying what I am saying is true, because they are no longer available, I just downloaded them when they were available. (I don't even know how to use photoshop or any other image editing software to be honest, and I wouldn't waste my time making something that isn't official either).
- 3. Well, it is true that the source is the game itself, they are not mine. They are not from gameplay or anything, but straight out from the game files. If upload an image from a screenshot of "Art of Splatoon" then the source would be "Self"? I don't think so.
- 4. To the person who replaced Inkjet and Tenta Missiles in the Weapon Brand page, again, those aren't fanmade. But to be honest, I don't care that much, I was thinking of withdrawing all my contributions because I don't like to participate in a place where your effort is called as lies and fandmade inventions.
- 5. By the way, I am curious about what are the very ""clear"" signs of then been fanmade or photoshopped. Andrea (talk) 01:20, 23 May 2023 (UTC)
- If categorizing the images isn't something you're up for, I'd be happy to handle it soon. This documentation page explains how to properly categorize images; the files are automatically added to categories according to how the template found on their file page is filled out.
- My apologies, I shouldn't have said there's "clear" photoshop signs, but rather miscellaneous unusual elements that lead me to somewhat question those files' origins. This is why I messaged you to verify if my suspicions were correct or not. Images obtained from the Line bot are typically sourced as
source=Obtained by chatting with Nintendo's automated LINE account.; your word suffices for this. In fact, I'd like to thank you for having preserving now-inaccessible Splatoon media. - The user who replaced those images is not me, but regardless, we will be able to re-instate those removed images following your reply explaining the images' source.
- At present, the "self" parameter is used in all cases of datamined images procured by the uploader; if you disagree with this system, the place to discuss that would be the Ink Pump or the file template's talk page. - Ok, thanks for the information.
- I mean, I got them from them the Nintendo Line Bot. I don't know if transferring the images from my phone to my computer affected their resolution and quality, but as far as I know, they have always been like that. I still have the files in my computer, unfortunately it seems I deleted them long ago from my previous phone.
- It is not like I disagree with the rules and parameters, I just thought that what I did was more logical.

Inkjet image
Hi Andrea,
The image of the Inkjet you uploaded as a new version is a different image to the previous one File:Inkjet.jpg. Could you please upload it as a new image instead, with a name like "S2 Inkjet promo render.jpg" (or something similar, but please include S2 at the beginning), and then revert Inkjet.jpg to the previous one.
