The L-3 Nozzlenose D is an Main Weapon in Splatoon. It was released on August 28th, 2015.

Description

The L-3 Nozzlenose D has the same stats as its base weapon, the L-3 Nozzlenose, but comes with the Burst Bomb as its sub weapon and the Kraken as its special weapon.

Sheldon's Introduction The L-3 Nozzlenose D is a standard L-3 Nozzlenose, decorated with badges from its manufacturer. Its stats are unchanged, but this set includes Burst Bombs and the Kraken- an aggressive combination! Attack with a Burst Bomb, and then finish them with your shooter. It's an easy set to get the hang of! (NA)

Notes

• Due to the fact that it fires ink in bursts, the L-3 Nozzlenose D is somewhat similar to a Splatling-type weapon.

Competitive Viability

The L-3 D is a much better weapon than its counterpart the L-3 Nozzlenose, and is probably the best nozzlenose there is, along with the Cherry H-3 Nozzlenose. Still, a competitive L-3 takes some serious skill to be effective in competitive play. Being a four hit kill is challenging when shots are fired three at a time, but luckily the Burst Bomb sub helps immensely with this. While near perfect aim is still a requirement, the burst bombs help a huge amount in making this weapon somewhat decent, and with a very strong invincibility special in the Kraken rounds out a nice package. It isn't seen too often due to the amount of skill needed to pull it off, but a good L-3 can create some serious plays in competitive matches.

• The D in the name likely represents the dolphin sticker on the side.
  • This dolphin logo is also found on the lower part of a Sprinkler.
  • The dolphin may be a reference to the codename for the Nintendo GameCube: "Dolphin."
