Frye is a character in Splatoon 3. She is an Inkling who resides in Splatsville. Along with her co-stars Shiver and Big Man, she is a member of the band Deep Cut, with whom she co-hosts both Anarchy Splatcast, the news show of Splatsville, and Splatfests. She has an excitable and enthusiastic personality. Her signature color is yellow.

Appearance

Frye is an Inkling with dark brown skin, golden eyes with orange pupils in the shape of an cross, finger and toes tinted purple at the tips, two eyelashes on each side, yellow tentacles with a lock on the right side in the front and a small lock on the left in the back and yellow triangular eyebrows. She has rather long pointed ears, the left ear having three piercings with sharp tooth earrings. Her outfit consists of a sleeveless yellow turtleneck crop top under a small yellow transparent shawl, white baggy pants with holes on the right side that have purple trims, and white toeless socks.

Etymology

"Frye" comes from "fry", the action of cooking food over heat. The relation to heat is in contrast to Shiver's name.

"Utsuho" is derived from utsubo (鱓), the Japanese word for "moray eel". This is in reference to Frye descending from a clan of moray eel users.
