The InkTV Resurgence League is a competitive league that began on 13 April 2023, involving eight of the best teams in Europe and North America.

Teams

Each of the eight participating teams competed in and one of two open qualifiers, which took place on 1 April 2023 and 8 April 2023.

France Alliance Rogue

A mainstay in the European Splatoon scene since 2017, three-time French champion and former European champion Alliance Rogue consists of longtime teammates Grey, Kiver, and Scar. After the departure of Jay, its Anchor, Alliance Rogue entered the first qualifier of the InkTV Resurgence League with American veteran player Fuzzy, a former teammate of Kiver on SetToDestroyX, and proceeded to sweep Shard 3-0 in the elimination stage before sweeping Uprising, Seafoam, and Squidding Good – all 3-0 – in the double elimination Top Cut bracket to clinch the first spot in the InkTV Resurgence League.[1][2][3]

Upon the start of league play, fellow French Carbon Roller Deco main Volty joined Alliance Rogue as its fourth member.

USA Crush Soda

Fresh off of its participation in the Splatoon 3 North American Championship 2023 two weeks earlier, Crush Soda, led by former FTWin member and seven-time North American champion Kyo, competed in the second qualifier of the InkTV Resurgence League on 8 April 2023. After sweeping Frostbite 3-0 in the elimination stage to enter the Top Cut bracket, it defeated BEt 3-1 and TWICE 3-0 before facing Penguin! in one of two Winners Semifinals, in which the winners qualify for the InkTV Resurgence League. After Penguin! took the first two games, Crush Soda pulled off a reverse sweep to win the match 3-2 and punch its ticket to the League.[4]

Europe Graveyard Shift

A new team of mostly European members led by veteran player Tera, Graveyard Shift entered the first qualifier of the InkTV Resurgence League on 1 April 2023, sweeping both Frostbite in the elimination stage and Nightmare in the first round of the Top Cut bracket. After dropping the first game to Zero Deaths, Graveyard Shift would win the next three to face Jackpot in one of two Winners Semifinals. Jackpot would win in a 3-0 sweep, sending Graveyard Shift down to one of two Losers Bracket Quarterfinals to wait for its next opponent with another ticket to the Resurgence League on the line. That opponent was Nightmare, the opponent it dispatched in the first round of Top Cut. After Graveyard Shift took the first two games, Nightmare fought back to win the next two setting up a winner-take-all Game 5, where Graveyard Shift prevailed to earn a spot in the InkTV Resurgence League.[3]

USA Jackpot

After Sayonara finished in second place to Starburst in the Splatoon 3 North American Championship 2023, one of its players, Sun, retired from competitive play and the team name was retired.[5][6] The remaining members, Leafi and .q, reformed the team as Jackpot (a name previously used in the Splatoon 3 Enter the Splatlands Invitational 2022) and reacquired former teammates Jared and Madness, each who last played on Destiny Bond and Seafoam respectively.[7][8][9][10]

During the first qualifier of the InkTV Resurgence League, Leafi had issues with his electricity, necessitating Sleepy to substitute for him. After sweeping Rabid 3-0 in the elimination stage, Jackpot faced early opposition against BEt in the first round of the Top Cut bracket, needing all five games to advance, 3-2. Next, it split the first two games against Ascension before it won the next two to clinch the series, 3-1. Finally, Jackpot swept Graveyard Shift 3-0 (see above) to claim a berth in the InkTV Resurgence League.[3]

USA Nightmare

A new team that formed in November 2022, Nightmare made its competitive debut with a 2nd place finish in Proving Grounds 2 on 12 November 2022.[11] One week later, it would win its first tournament, Friday Night Splatdown 31, and follow it up with three more top-three finishes.[12] Upon entering the first qualifier of the InkTV Resurgence League on 1 April 2023, with IPS as a substitute, Nightmare swept Cherry Limeade 3-0 in the elimination stage but were swept 3-0 by Graveyard Shift in the first round of the Top Cut (see above). Undaunted, it would work its way through the Losers Bracket, defeating Polar Night, Full Send, and DNA – all 2-1 – before earning a rematch against Graveyard Shift with a spot in the League on the line. After dropping the first two games, Nightmare would win the next two before bowing out in Game 5.[3][13]

Encouraged by the result, Nightmare would add Pelu to its ranks and enter the second qualifier the next week, defeating Lit Candle 3-2 via reverse sweep in the elimination stage before sweeping Targaryen and Sonder 3-0 in the first two rounds of the Top Cut, only to face Starburst in a qualifying match and losing 3-1. Down in the Losers Bracket Quarterfinals, with Sephtis subbing for Joe, Nightmare would hold off a reverse sweep attempt by Full Send to clinch its spot in the InkTV Resurgence League.[4][14]
