Horrorboroses are King Salmonid that appear in Salmon Run Next Wave during an Xtrawave. They are the second type of King Salmonid to debut in Splatoon 3.

Description

Horrorboros is a large, dragon-like Salmonid. It has a large mouth with a weapon device similar to that of the Steelhead's bomb. It spawns at the water's edge, slowly rises into the air, and slowly moves around the map, floating in a dragon-like manner. It uses an attack similar to the Booyah Bomb weapon as its main attack (albeit larger), charging it up using the contraption in its mouth and launching it down towards the players. Players can attack Horrorboros' body directly, or attack the bomb from its mouth until it bursts. Its bomb takes 2,500 damage to burst (each damage hurts Horrorboros directly), and the burst damage is 5,000. In other words, each successful burst cycle deals 7,500 damage to Horroboros. Since each Egg Cannon shot only deals 800 damage to its body, it is advised to aim the shots at its bomb for massive damage.

Horrorboros' health, like Cohozuna, depends on the hazard level. When facing a team of Overachievers 0/99 or above, it will have a maximum of 55,000 HP.

• Hazard level 8.0% ~ 19.8%: 40,700 HP (0.74x)
• Hazard level 20.0% ~ 39.8%: 44,000 HP (0.8x)
• Hazard level 40.0% ~ 59.8%: 49,500 HP (0.9x)
• Hazard level 60.0%+: 55,000 HP (1x)

Tips

• In a similar manner to the Steelhead, the bomb Horrorboros charges up can be attacked. The bomb has 2,500 HP, and any damage to the bomb also reduces Horroboros' health by the same amount. If destroyed, the explosion deals a huge amount of damage (5,000 to be exact) to Horrorboros and cancels its Booyah Bomb attack.
  • Additionally, try to hit the bomb early before it gets too big. This way it is easier to destroy and can be done much faster.
  • Throwing Golden Eggs at the bomb can deal significant damage (800 each to be exact) to the bomb, which is faster than most supplied weapons. If you cannot connect a clear shot with a Golden Egg to the bomb, do not hesitate to throw the Golden Egg at Horrorboros normally, as every second counts.
  • Like Steelhead's bomb, any damage dealt to Horroboros' bomb carries over to the next cycle (with the bomb painted partially in players' ink color) if players are unable to destroy it in the current cycle, until it is destroyed.
• Horrorboros' large size and floating nature allow the team to deal damage to it virtually anywhere on the map.
• Only using Egg cannon on the bomb would take about 48 Golden Eggs to defeat a Horrorboros on the highest difficulty (55,000 HP), which is not impossible but extremely hard to perform. Because of that, don't forget to use your main weapons against Horrorboros as well. Weapons with high damage per second are exceptionally good for this role.
  • For Hydra Splatling and E-liter 4K, it's recommended to focus on shooting the bomb because of the main weapon's overstanding damage and range.
  • It's recommended to use Crab Tank on the bomb as well.
• Remember that using the Egg cannon doesn't cost any ink and can take most of the Boss Salmonids in one shot, trading one Golden Egg for three most of the time.

Etymology

Horrorboros is a portmanteau of "horror" and "ouroboros", an ancient symbol of a serpent or dragon that is eating its own tail.
