Various user icons, also referred to as profile icons or simply icons, featuring characters and other elements from the Splatoon series are available for use on Nintendo Switch user profiles. A set of Splatoon and Splatoon 2 themed icons are available by default, while further sets of Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 icons with rotating availability have been made available for Nintendo Switch Online users to purchase through Platinum Points.

Twenty-four default profile icons featuring promotional artwork of Splatoon and Splatoon 2 characters are available to use as a user profile icon on the Nintendo Switch. These icons must be paired with one of the seventy-two available plain color swatch backgrounds.

Nintendo Switch Online icons
Various icon elements featuring Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 theming have been released via the Missions & Rewards tab in the Nintendo Switch Online application on the Nintendo Switch exclusively to users subscribed to the service. Each icon element costs ten Platinum Points. It is not possible to mix and match Splatoon 2 icon elements with Splatoon 3 icon elements, nor with any other icon elements belonging to other games' sets; a Splatoon 2 background may only be used with Splatoon 2 characters and frames.
Icons are created and saved in the Icon Collection tab. Icons can be created by specifying a game element set then selecting a character element and background element for the icon. Users may optionally add a frame element to their icon. Randomly generated icons featuring randomized elements from a single game element set are also available to choose from.
Default, plain color swatches in eighty-four colors similar to the non-Nintendo Switch Online icons' backgrounds are available as frame and background element options.
Most of the icon elements do not have official titles or descriptions, as they are instead labelled simply "Character", "Background" or "Frame" when redeemed in the application.
