The Fizzy Bomb is a sub weapon in Splatoon 2. It appears to be a Bomb-type weapon, which can be charged up by holding down the R button, increasing its power. The weapon was first teased at the September 2018 Nintendo Direct, along with the Kensa Collection of weapons, two new Special weapons and changes to Splatfest. The Fizzy Bomb will be released in Version 4.1.0 in early October, according to the Squid Research Lab[1].

Trivia

  • The weapon's name is a reference to the fizz, or the hissing sound and bubbles of gas, that cans of soda can release if opened after being shaken, similar to the weapon's charging animation. In addition, the weapon resembles a soda can, as well as an M67 hand grenade.
  • This weapon, using a placeholder Autobomb model instead of the final model, was found in data mining as early as version 3.1.0. Its internal codename is "Piyo", which is a common placeholder name in Japanese computer programming.
  • There are a few hacks that showed the weapon before hand where, like in the trailer for 4.1, when the bomb is fully charged, it actually explodes three times.
