The Wave Breaker is a special weapon in Splatoon 3. It is a device that releases up to three expanding shockwaves that damage and track opponents that touch them.
Appearance
The Wave Breaker consists of a conical device resembling a pop and catch toy. The sphere rests in an indentation in the cone and is connected to it via a wire. After being thrown, the sphere will start bouncing up and down, releasing circular shockwaves of black squids.
Splatoon 3
Immediately after activating the special weapon, the user will hold the Wave Breaker above their head, which can then be thrown. After the device lands, the sphere starts bouncing up and down, with each bounce releasing a shockwave that expands from the base of the cone. The shockwave length can be increased with Special Power Up. Over its duration, the Wave Breaker will unleash a total of three shockwaves before being destroyed. The shockwave will damage opponents and marks them with black circling squids on contact, similar to the Angle Shooter. The shockwave can be avoided by jumping over it. Additionally, the waves can go through the Big Bubbler's barrier and enemies can destroy the Wave Breaker prematurely by damaging the cone.
The waves emitted can revive downed players in Salmon Run Next Wave, and with precise timing, it's possible to use one to avoid a loss if the last player alive throws one before being splatted.

Trivia
- The Wave Breaker itself can also deal damage. If directly placed on a Squid Bumper or an enemy, it will continually deal 30 damage.
