Inkipedia:Discord
Why Discord?
Discord is text chat and voice chat software. It has a web version and a downloadable app version, both cost-free.
Inkipedia contributors use Discord to talk, think, and stay connected.
Joining allows you to:
- Stay in the loop on current happenings.
- Discuss wiki matters in real-time.
- Give and receive as much input as possible on important wiki contributions.
- Talk about Splatoon games with some of the most dedicated members of the Splatoon community.
We want you to join the Inkipedia Discord chat!
Joining
To join, please follow this link to Inkipedia Discord and accept the invitation: https://discord.gg/42GwSvV4Pg
If you don't have a Discord account, you will be prompted to create one. Much like Inkipedia itself, you must be at least 13 years old to create a Discord account.
After joining Inkipedia Discord, the onboarding screen will walk you through the rules, as well as customization questions to get you started. You can always change your answers later by pressing the Channels & Roles button, so don't worry if you're not sure how to answer a customization question.
If your Inkipedia username does not match your Discord nickname, we encourage you to include your wiki username in your Discord nickname, either in full or as a (parenthetical) or similar format. This helps us to know how best to assist you with wiki matters, should you be in need of it! Discord allows setting nicknames on a per-server basis in your user settings by navigating to:
User Settings -> Profiles -> Per-server Profiles
History
Originally, Inkipedia used Skype for chat. In May 2016, Inkipedia switched to using the Discord server of ABXY, the organization responsible for hosting Inkipedia and other wikis like StrategyWiki. An archive of the Inkipedia channel is available at ABXY Discord. In October 2022, Inkipedia created a new, independent Discord server, which remains in use today.
