Inkipedia:About
Inkipedia is a wiki, scoped to and about the Splatoon series.
History
On 10 June 2014, the Splatoon Wiki was created on Wikia by Lumoshi. In April 2015, members of Pikipedia approached the administrators of the Splatoon Wiki and proposed a move to NIWA, the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance. With some weeks of discussion and feedback from the fandom,[1] it was eventually decided that the wiki would become independent. The move began on 18 May 2015, along with a name change to Inkipedia (as thought up by ShrimpPin), although due to Wikia policies, the original site remains active. Inkipedia was officially opened to the public on 24 May 2015.
On 4 July 2015, Inkipedia was officially added as a member of the NIWA.
On 8 June 2016, a French version of Inkipedia was launched.
On 8 April 2022, a Spanish version of Inkipedia was launched.
On 8 September 2022, Inkipedia received a significant redesign after a logo contest and coinciding with the release of Splatoon 3. GuyPerfect changed the default skin to Timeless and customized it to make Inkipedia attractive, accessible, and responsive on all screen sizes. The 2015 logo design, which had served Inkipedia well for over 7 years, was replaced with a new logo by ninckvinny.
On 1 October 2024, Inkipedia's text licensing was changed from CC BY-SA 3.0 to CC BY-SA 4.0.
