Splatoon Stronghold is a project founded by Samino and other competitive players to create a "Stronghold for competitive Splatoon providing resources to longtimers and newcomers alike"[1].

The project has created three different ways to spread information about competitive Splatoon to make the competitive scene more accessible to new players and seasoned ones as well. The three forms include a Discord server, Google document, and a website; the Discord server for interactivity, the Google document for shareability, and the website for searchability.

Project History

What initially inspired the inception of the project was the lack of accessibility to resources in the competitive scene. The founder of the project, Samino, saw this and after talking with other players about their competitive journeys and how they learned information (nearly all of that information being learnt by experience and not through resources), the project was conceived and set in to motion during the Spring of 2022.

The project was first announced to the public on April 12th, 2022[2]. However, it wasn't until April 26th where the project's first part of their plan, the creation of a Discord server, was announced to be releasing publicly on May 28th as a way to celebrate Splatoon's 7 year anniversary[3].

Not long before the project's Discord server went public, a project roadmap[4] was released. In the roadmap, a competitive guide & handbook as well as a website were announced. The release dates for the guide & handbook being June 18th and the website being July 21st.

The project's Discord server went public on May 28th as planned and rose in popularity very quickly. Going from roughly 150 members (as a result of the preview phase done in May), the server reached 1,000 members before two days had even passed. An announcement video for the project explaining what it was and all that it had to offer was also created[5].

On June 9th, 2022, the Discord server became available on Discord's Server Discovery feature, helping to make the server more accessible[6].

Not long after this, on June 18th, 2022, the project's second part in its three-phase plan was released with the announcement of the Splatoon Esports Guidebook[7].

The planned website will be launching on July 21st, 2022 to celebrate Splatoon 2's anniversary.

The staff of Splatoon Stronghold have hinted at future plans to expand what the project offers.
