Heyy I'm a random cephalopod you just stumbled upon. Why are you reading this? I don't know. But it's not like I can really stop you or anything and I also don't have anything better to do :]

Personal stuff

Hi! My name's Zay, and I'm a fellow enby brazilian! I was born in the southeast region, but I lived in the northeast for 6 years, although i currently live in the southeast again.

I learn English since I was 4 years old, and despite having good writing and understanding skills, my brazilian accent is still very thick, but I've been working on that! Also I'm learning japanese and I'm currently at level N5 :)

I have ADHD, APD, dyslexia and perfect pitch. Things can get pretty confusing to me, but thankfully I'm gifted so it doesn't affect my school grades all that much.

Speaking of which, I'm in second year of Ensino Médio, which I think correlates to junior. I really like drawing stuff and I aspire to study and become an animator in the future! Here are some stuff btw (I'm too lazy to update those, they're from 2023)

I won't open commissions anymore so I can build up my portfolio with something other than silly squids and octopuses lol

Splatoon 3

January 2021

While searching for character references, I found an image of agent 8 and thought they looked really cool. So I searched a bit about the game and started liking the franchise, and started watching some YouTubers like Jaymoji and ThatSBR2Dude.

February 2021

Splatoon 3 was announced and I saw the video on YouTube the following day. I was so hyped, not because I wanted to play it since I didn't even have a switch, but to see the SplatTubers I was watching play it.

December 2021

My father got me and my sister a switch. I was so happy because now I had a chance at maybe being able to play the game when it came out.

August 2022

The Splatoon 3 direct happened. By then I was already fully emerged in the Splatoon fandom without even playing the game, and I already knew the lore like the palm of my hand.

When the idols were introduced, I liked Frye from the start. Even though I'm Brazilian, my heart already belonged to Frye before Big Man was introduced. And I was full-on FLABBERGASTED when I heard Anarchy Rainbow. I legit started crying. The representation was SO good.

I was also extremely happy when the testfire was announced, so I would get a chance to play the game before buying it.

I went on team Scissors not for the memes or Big Man, just because I always start a Jankenpon (RPS) match with scissors. Although I have to admit, I was heavily tempted to choose team Paper for Frye.

My aiming was uhh, terrible to say the least. And the weapon I picked for that day was Splat Charger of all things. I don't think I ever won a match that Splatfest. But I was so happy I actually experienced Splatoon that it didn't really matter at all.

After the testfire Splatfest, I still kept reloading the demo in an alt account so I could practice aiming in the tutorial, and eventually I learned how to do the out of bounds glitch as well.

September 2022

The game came out although I had to wait a week to buy it since I was travelling at that time. I went 10/3 or something in my first match and I was so happy (although I would later get to know that 7 of them were assists LOL). But nevertheless, repeating the demo after it was done really helped me to get my aim ready for the game. Although it was still jacky it was wayyyy less than in the testfire splatfest.

After I was able to get another weapon with Sheldon, I decided not to go for the Splat Charger since I knew I had to get my aim better, so I chose the Splattershot (I didn't like rollers at all so that's why I didn't even consider it. I still don't have the vanilla roller to this day). After a while I also bought the .52 Gal, so I started using both of them as mains.

Aaaand the Island Splatfest was announced! I was euphoric because Splatfests were one of the things I most looked forward to in Splatoon, so having another one already made me really happy. I ended up choosing team Fun, since I don't know how to use emergency stuff for camping and food would attract animals anyway, so since I'm not gonna survive I'm gonna at least be playing tableturf in my last moments.

Speaking of which, I started playing tableturf here as well. I thought it looked really cool, and tableturf also was a factor for me to watch Yu-Gi-Oh! (and now I'm heavily hyperfixated on the franchise). I didn't know how decks worked at all, although I did watch some videos from cryptidcultist (btw go check out her videos they're awesome).

October 2022

No splatfest. Sadge.

1000%'d Alterna this month, completing all levels with all the possible weapons, after alterna, and getting all the maps.

I'm pretty sure this is when I started using the Dapple Dualies as well, however I kept using Splattershot and .52 Gal as mains instead.

Around this time, I started getting interested in maybe someday joining competitive splatoon. Not much to say about this month as a whole though.

November 2022

The Grass vs. Fire vs. Water splatfest happened that month! I was not exactly that excited about it since I'm not a huge Pokémon fan anyways. I mean I do have 187 physical cards but I wasn't that enthusiastic about the game or the anime. But I always liked Turtwig, so I went for Team Grass. Although I did think of joining Team Water because of the new starter Pokémon looking very silly.

Because of that and the whole thing happening in the community about Shiver winning the splatfests, I felt I was betraying my team in a way. Really dumb now that I look back about it. Anyways, Big Man won with a sweep and I remember I was shocked. Also the fact that they still won after halftime, which before the tricolor change was considered to be something that would guarantee your team's loss, right before they changed it, was epic in my opinion. Only splatfest I was happy another team won.

After the splatfest I collected myself some Sheldon Licenses, so I went to Sheldon and went "You know what screw it I'm buying the Heavy Splatling". Best decision in my life. I didn't even test it before buying but I went to a Turf War match straight away and fell in love with the weapon. I knew it was gonna be my main as soon as I started playing with it. So I almost completely dropped the Splattershot and .52 and stuck to almost only Heavy Splatling for the rest of the month.

December 2022

After playing so much with the Heavy Splatling, I got it to 2 stars and bought the Tri-Stringer as well, cause I didn't see that many people using it. Although my aim still wasn't the best so I kinda sucked at it. But it was fun, and I was starting to really like the midline/backline style. The backlash I went from not being able to resist to get into my opponent's faces to playing more passive and watching out for my enemies was absolutely wild, and that helped me a lot with my mindset as well. I didn't play as much that month cause y'know, last month of the year, buncha family stuff, traveling, etc etc.

January 2023

New year just dropped, actual splatfest. Spicy vs. Sweet vs. Sour. I immediately knew who was gonna win, but I was - and still am - a sucker for sour food, especially in Japanese food. Not much to say about this month either, traveling a lot, so not that much time for funny squid game. But I was gonna enter High School in February and was also moving to São Paulo so that also occupied a lot of my time. Although I did get to Sour Ruler that splatfest. Also first time getting 10x battles, got 3 of them in fact.

(While I was writing this I actually forgot a splatfest even happened that month-)

February 2023

"WOAH ANOTHER SPLATFEST ALREADY calm down calm down lemme see what the theme is- oh it's a splatfest based on valentines day. Yay. Oh wait the question's about chocolate types- and that doesn't help either cause I like all three of them the same"

I was really really troubleshooted about my choice in the splatfest because of that, even getting to the point of maybe going for how the ink color matched with my avatar at the time, but after I considered that my favorite idol was hosting Team Milk and after Kyo (not the comp guy, my local friend) convinced me to choose Milk to play with her, I made my choice.

I was so anxious because of High School starting that I actually spent basically the entire weekend playing the Splatfest, but I only reached ruler+1.

March 2023

Pretty sure this is when the DLC was announced right? Too lazy to check right now. Anyways I wasn't so excited about the first wave cause I wasn't really a Splatoon fan for that long so I didn't get the nostalgia. Also I preferred Splatsville's vibes cause they reminded me of Bairro da Liberdade. But I was super excited for Side Order- and still am (writing this in January 2024). I always liked Octo Expansion and I wanted Team Order to win Splatoon 2's final fest.

Oh yeah almost forgot, this is the month where I finally stepped in ranked battles! Got to C+ by the end of the month.

And this is also the month when I joined the Tableturf Battle Server. Although I wasn't active there for a good while.

April 2023

Ayy fest time! Nessie vs. Aliens vs. Big Foot for an April Fools theme. Since it was April Fools, I didn't take the question too seriously and was choosing for memes. I almost chose Big Foot because. You know. But I ended up choosing Nessie to both play with Kyo and cause I think Nessie plushies are cute. The green ink may or may not have factored in a little lol. That was the first and so far only splatfest where the team I chose won. Also, first time I ever got a 100x battle! Ended up meeting Yoshé through that and we chat on discord nowadays, really cool guy :)

I believe I started using Mini Splatling and Ballpoint Splatling around this month as well.

May 2023

Fest happened! Power vs. Wisdom vs. Courage. I'm not exactly a Zelda fan, like at all. Never touched a game, never got interested. Back then I chose Wisdom but nowadays I probably would've chosen Courage. My reasoning back then was that one needed wisdom to not get fooled by the many ill intended people in the world, but now I think that having the courage to stand up for yourself and for others is more important, as having the courage to become a leader will already unite many people. And let me just say this, I LOVED the tricolor stage. I hope they make more stages like that in the future cause it was so fun!

Reached A rank and I immediately started searching for comp teams to join. Didn't quite find one that month though.

Also I started being wayy more active in TBS, starting to talk a lot to people like Polo, Hydrus, Jack, Kimi, Comet, etc. So I also started updating my tableturf decks to actually not suck, and made my first general deck that was basically the only deck I used for half a year.

June 2023

Lots or school tests, didn't do a lot in Splatoon that month, not that I remember

July 2023

FINALLY winter break arrived, had lots of time to play funny sploon geam. I knew the splatfest was gonna be summer themed because north hemisphere :/ and it was, Vanilla vs. Strawberry vs. Mint Chip. I'm honestly not that much of a ice cream enjoyer, way too cold for my teeth, but I still wanted to go in the splatfest. I was gonna choose vanilla, but after considering that the splatfest team logo for strawberry was an ice cream with strawberry pieces on it, I chose strawberry, since I think industrial strawberry ice cream sucks but natural strawberry ice cream is heavenly. I knew we were gonna lose, aaand we did. But I didn't expect to get that heavy a criticism for choosing Strawberry- lots of people in r/Saltoon were mad cause they thought people were choosing that for UwU pick me girl kawaii strawberry lol. And vanilla was too, cause people thought whoever preferred it was "basic" which I completely disagree with. But I will admit, we didn't get criticized half as much as Mint Chip did. o7

I got in a newly made Splatoon 3 team called Flabbergasted in that month, and uhh yeah we didn't do pretty much anything for 3 months lol. Gonna get more into that later.
