Salmon Run is a mysterious part-time job that Grizzco Industries offers when hordes of Salmonids approach Inkling waters. We’ve received word that for the first three days after the launch of Splatoon 2 on Friday, July 21st, a MASSIVE number of Salmonids will be migrating toward Inkopolis. This means that the frequency of Grizzco’s part-time job offers will be increased. But keep in mind that you need to be at least at level 4 to take part in these part-time jobs. Don’t miss this chance to try out Salmon Run!Make sure those Splattershots are fully loaded Inklings, because Splatoon 2 is available now!

This is the latest model of the iconic Splattershot, an all-around weapon that’s great for mastering the basics of battle. It comes equipped ith Burst Bombs as a sub weapon and Splashdown as a special.

The Splat Roller represents the roller class of weapons that excel at close combat and inking turf. Tap to fling ink, or just ink the ground as you run. This set comes with the Curling Bomb sub and Splashdown special. The roller allows you to perform a vertical swing that sends in flying farther than a standard swing.

File:S2 Splat Charger Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

This is the Splat Charger, a weapon designed for long-range offense. Charge up ink, then release to fire it out all at once, inkling a long path in an instant. This weapon can store its charge, allowing you to swim around for a short time without losing your charge. This kit comes with Splat Bomb sub weapons and a Sting Ray special.

9 June 2017

File:S2 Splatterscope Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

This is the Splatterscope, for those that like to stay safe and shoot from afar. The added scope allows for more effective long-distance aiming. Great for hitting far-off targets, but your view is narrow while charging. Because the fancy scope takes up so much space, the ability to store charge has been dropped from this model. This set comes equipped with Splat Bomb sub weapons and a Sting Ray special.

#Splatoon 2 #Main Weapon #Splatterscope #Nintendo Switch

9 June 2017

File:S2 Splat Dualies Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

The Splat Dualies are the standard model of the new Dualies weapon class. You can carry one in each hand, and their propulsive exhaust nozzles allow you to perform a high-speed dodge-roll. You can’t move for a brief period immediately after rolling, but the two sights overlap during that time, increasing your accuracy and fire rate. This base set comes with the Burst Bombs sub and Tenta Missiles special.

9 June 2017

File:S2 Slosher Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

It’s a bucket! The Slosher can be a brutal weapon in the right hands. It’s basically a bucket of ink that you can toss straight at an opponent. No nonsense. Also great for attacking elevated positions behind walls. This base set comes with a Suction Bomb sub and Tenta Missiles special.

#Splatoon 2 #Main Weapon #Slosher #Nintendo Switch

9 June 2017

This bad boy is the Heavy Splatling. The mechanics are similar to those of a charger, but it’s in a class of its own. Compress your ink, then release to unleash a fat stream of ink from the cannon. Each charge uses a huge amount of ink, and charging it leaves you exposed for a while, so play smart. This set comes with the Sprinkler sub and Sting Ray special.

#Splatoon 2 #Main Weapon #heavy splatling #Nintendo Switch

9 June 2017

File:S2 Sprinkler Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

The Sprinker sub weapon can attach to the ground or walls and spray ink. It operates at full power when placed but gradually gets weaker. You can place one at a time.

#Splatoon 2 #Sub Weapon #Sprinkler #Nintendo Switch

9 June 2017

File:S2 Sting Ray Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

This special weapon is called the Sting Ray. Holding down the fire button will fire a high-pressure jet of ink that can pierce walls. It’s so powerful that you can’t change direction quickly while firing. However, when you’re not firing, it allows you to see the location of opponents on the other side of walls.

#Splatoon 2 #Special Weapon #Sting Ray #Nintendo Switch

The Squid Beakon and Splash Wall aren’t present in the E3 demo, but they will be in Splatoon 2 when it launches on July 21. We also believe there may be other weapons and devices that haven’t been discovered yet. Our research continues.

11 June 2017

In the upcoming Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational, a selection of 14 different types of Gear Abilities will be available, giving players some options. All abilities at E3 will be in their initial state. In other words, no gear sub abilities will be unlocked.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #World Inkling Invitational #Gear Abilities #E3 2017

12 June 2017

Let’s introduce a few of the Gear Abilities. This is Special Power Up. As the name implies, this ability raises the performance of the equipped special weapon. For example, when used in conjunction with Tenta Missiles, the targeting reticule will be larger, making it easier to lock on to more opponents.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #Gear Abilities #Special Power Up

12 June 2017

This Gear Ability is called Sub Power Up. As the name implies, this ability increases the performance of an equipped sub weapon. How performance changes is contingent on which sub is being used. For example, when using Burst Bombs, it’s like the Bomb Range Up ability from the previous Splatoon game, so you’ll be able to throw bombs farther. With Ink Mines, the area of effect will be larger.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #Gear Abilities #Sub Power Up

12 June 2017

This Gear Ability is Ink Resistance Up. It reduces damage taken and improves mobility when walking through enemy ink. This ability was in the first game, but it was restricted to shoes as a Main Ability. In Splatoon 2, this ability is now stackable (meaning you can equip multiple instances of the ability to make it stronger). It’s available on headwear and clothing, and can also be added as a sub ability. Think about the fashion-coordination possibilities!

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #Gear Abilities #Ink Resistance Up

12 June 2017

This is the Quick Respawn ability. When you get splatted more than once without taking down any opponents, this lets you respawn faster than normal. This is a slight tweak on this ability’s function in the first game. I imagine some of the other returning abilities have been adjusted in kind.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #Gear Abilities #Quick Respawn

12 June 2017

While we were researching multiplayer battles, we discovered a small mark we hadn’t seen before. Our theory is that this mark is displayed when multiple players cooperate to take down a single opponent. We’re calling it an “assist mark” for the time being.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #assist mark

13 June 2017

On the battle results screen, in addition to the number of players you splatted or assisted in splatting, the number of times you used your special will also be displayed. As with the first game, there also appears to be a function prepared that will show the number of times you got splatted, but more research needs to be done on this subject.

This is Inkblot Art Academy. Many an Inkling artist graduated from this prestigious institution. There are various sculptures and objects around campus, and climbing up on them can give you an advantage in battle. Even the random ink splashes on the campus buildings have an artistic flair to them.

File:S2 Salmon Run 6.JPG

In Splatoon 2, there are two ways to play Salmon Run: local multiplayer and online.

Local multiplayer lets you play anytime, anywhere. When you don’t have enough players gathered locally to start a full 4v4 Turf War, Salmon Run is great option.

Online play, on the other hand, is event-based and can be enjoyed during times when Grizzco Industries is open for business.

Good news Inklings, we’ve confirmed that Splatfests will be returning to Splatoon 2!

While the upcoming battle is between eternal rivals Cake and Ice Cream, let’s #TBT to a Splatoon classic, Cats vs. Dogs! It was a close contest, with both teams fighting tooth & nail, but Team Dogs won by a hair!

What Splatfest was your favorite?

Did you know you can create drawings and share them via social media? It’s true! Just visit the mailbox in Inkopolis Square. Your drawings may be viewable by other players, so don’t go posting personal info or inappropriate content, knuckleheads! These drawings may be displayed as signs or graffiti in Inkopolis Square.

Research shows that Inklings continue to be divided. We at the lab need your help to settle this debate. Which will you choose – Cake or Ice Cream? At the end of each Splatfest, participants will earn Super Sea Snails based on their individual and team contribution. If you give snails to Murch in Inkopolis Square, he can add additional slots to your gear, or scrub your gear to remove its secondary abilities.

Please note that Super Sea Snails will not be distributed for the Splatfest World Premiere event taking place this weekend. Save data from the demo will not carry over into the full game.

We all know Inklings love to grab a bite at Crusty Sean’s new food-truck venture, the aptly named Crust Bucket. Chow down on these deep-fried snacks and you’ll get more cash and experience from battles. However, it seems the only currency that Sean accepts is “tickets” which can be earned in Octo Canyon or Salmon Run.

File:Splatoon-2-ink-armor-02.jpg

Ink Armor grants each member of your team armor that nullifies damage from a single attack. It works on all team members regardless of proximity. The effect lasts for a limited time, but we imagine this special will be useful for laying pressure on opponents.

File:S2 Bomb Launcher Twitter SplatoonJP Image2.jpg

The Bomb Launcher special allows you to launch bombs without consuming any ink. The longer a player holds the R button, the farther the bomb will travel. They also come in different varieties: Splat-Bomb Launcher, Curling-Bomb Launcher, Autobomb Launcher, etc. We also discovered that this special doesn’t necessarily tie to your kit’s sub weapon, meaning you might discover a kit with Suction Bomb sub and Curling-Bomb Launcher special, for example.

It appears that there are now two ways to enter Splatfest Battles: Solo & Team. Solo mode works like Splatfest in the original Splatoon game; you’ll automatically match with three other players and battle against groups of four random players from the opposing team.

Team mode requires four players (must be friends with someone from the same team who is in the Lobby) to join a private lobby before being matched up against another team of four.

The final result will be determined by popularity, Solo Win percentage, and Team Win percentage.

Is that…Annie? It seems like she’s taken up a new digital storefront. You can order gear here, and then visit Murch to pick it up. He accepts cash on delivery! File:Splatoon2 img weapon Dapple Dualies.jpg
File:DappleDualiesFire.jpg

The Dapple Dualies are dualie-type weapons that have been engineered for optimum mobility. They’re lighter than standard Splat Dualies, allowing for faster movement, but they have less range. It’s a trade-off. Utilize the increased mobility to set Squid Beakons around the map, and call your teammates to the front lines! And use the Suction-Bomb Launcher to further expand your team’s territory. Sheldon recommends this set for players who want to swiftly splat their opponents and support their team.

File:ClashBlasterHeld.jpg

You know how blasters tend to have a low rate of fire? Not the Clash Blaster! Its speedy shots are great for keeping foes at bay! Damage output has been decreased to allow improved rapid fire, but Splat Bombs can help you take it to your foes in a major way. Opponents keeping their distance? Reach out and boop ‘em with the Sting Ray! This set is for players that like causing chaos on the front lines.

13 July 2017

Now this right here is Flow. You’ll find her working at Headspace, Inkopolis’s spot for hats and helmets. From the way she talks, she might seem a bit loopy, but that’s just part of her mysterious vibe. Word has it she’s a bit older than most of her Inkling customers, and teasing them is one of her favorite pastimes. The little guy who lives among her tendrils is her erstwhile companion, Craymond, an unhinged emperor shrimp who’s always got her back.

These lovely ladies are the rising stars who’ve been burning up the Inkling music charts, Off the Hook! First you’ve got Pearl, the cute and sassy MC with a talent for spitting fire lyrics. Then you’ve got Marina, the dazzling DJ genius rocking beats on the wheels of steel. File:S2 Goo Tuber promo render.png

We’re proud to reveal our findings on the Goo Tuber, a charger with the upgraded ability to store your charge even longer. Intel from Sheldon is that it offers high-pressure ink storage for extended periods, allowing you to stay submerged while you wait for the perfect shot! In exchange, it takes a bit longer to charge, but you can push your foes back with the Suction Bombs sub. You can stay on the move with one in the chamber, and when the enemy decides to close in, make ‘em pay with a Splashdown surprise!

This Jellyfish gentleman goes by the name Jelfonzo, and he runs Ye Olde Cloth Shoppe. And check out his origin story: one day he just split off of Jelonzo in Inkopolis Plaza, and there he was! I think that makes him Jelonzo’s son? He apparently learned to speak Inkling from an ancient text of some sort, so his speech sounds a bit outdated (to say the least). But don’t let that fool you. When it comes to fashion, this dapper dude is always up on the hottest trends.

21 July 2017

This is the Splattershot Jr. It’s the weapon that every Inkling will have in their hands when they first arrive in Inkopolis Square. This entry-level Turf War weapon boasts efficient ink use and a quick rate of fire. It comes with the Splat Bomb for its sub weapon, and its special weapon is Ink Armor.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #Nintendo

21 July 2017

The Sting Ray special weapon fires high-pressure ink that can penetrate walls to splat opponents on the other side.

In the Splatfest World Premiere demo, using the Sting Ray severely limited your mobility, but its mobility is being improved through an update to the game. With the new-and-improved Sting Ray, players will be able to suspend their attack by entering squid form, allowing them to reposition themselves before resuming their assault. This enables players to retreat at a moment’s notice, or find a better vantage point.

[Public Squid Notice] We received a technical update about the SplatNet 2 Gear Shop in the Nintendo Switch Online app. During a short amount of time after the servers went live, a few gear items paired up with incorrect gear abilities. For example, Ninja Squid, which is meant to only attach to clothing, was attached to shoes. The gear in question are the four in the above image. As of now, this issue has been fixed, and such gear items will no longer appear in the Gear Shop.

An update will be made in the near future to replace the Gear Ability of these items with the same main Gear Ability that will be available in the stores in the game. We appreciate your understanding.

The next Splatfest is coming soon, and the theme is a clash of condiments: Mayonnaise vs. Ketchup.

The Splatfest event times are:
8/4 (Fri) 9:00 p.m. PT – 8/5 (Sat) 9:00 p.m. PT

As a reminder, at the end of the event, the winning side will be determined by Popularity, Solo Win percentage, and Team Win percentage. And this Splatfest theme will be shared globally, though results will be tallied and shared region by region.

Don’t forget you can team up with friends in Splatfest, though Team Mode is a little different from what you may be used to. This mode requires four players (must be friends with someone from the same team who is in the Lobby) to join a private lobby before being matched up against another team of four.

But will players choose mayo or ketchup? Only you can decide! And if you can’t wait to show your support, you can go into the game later tonight to pick your team and/or submit some mayo or ketchup centric drawings. We do enjoy tuna fish sandwiches and potato salad here in the lab, but we’d also be lying if we said we didn’t have a few bottles of spicy ketchup in the fridge. Decisions, decisions..

Say hello to the Dualie Squelchers! Tonight at 7 PM PT, these puppies will be in stock at Ammo Knights. This weapon appeared as the shooter-type Jet Squelcher in the original game, but it’s been reborn as a Dualies-type weapon in Splatoon 2.

Its iconic longish-range and rapid fire return with the added dodge roll ability. It comes with a Point Sensor sub and Tenta Missiles special. We even noticed that while shooting from a crouch right after rolling, both Squelchers are temporarily merged - fascinating! Sheldon recommends this kit for nimble fighters that want to support their team and be a real nuisance to opponents.

We learned that on Friday evening, a new stage will be added to the mix. The Manta Maria is a large sailboat moored at a harbor near Inkopolis, and it will soon be the site of many fierce ink battles. The towering masts and nets in the center of the stage will likely be a key area of conflict.

It’s a superpowered Splatfest this week in Splatoon 2! Which team will reign supreme? Let’s take a look.

Team Flight gets to save a bunch of money on plane tickets and you never have to sit in traffic again! Invisibility has its perks too though. You’d make a pretty great spy, being able to listen in on secret conversations, and skipping lines would be a breeze!

Of course, there’s only one way to settle this argument, and that’s by inking up your opponents on the splattlefield this weekend! Splatfest kicks off Friday 9/1 at 9PM PT and ends Saturday 9/2 at 9PM PT.

[PSA] Tonight, September 7th, a software update (Ver. 1.3.0) will be released. Prior to this update, server maintenance will take place from 5:50 PM - 7:30 PM Pacific Time.

For details on this update, please visit this page.

The biggest changes in Ver. 1.3.0 are adjustments to some special weapons as well as some main weapons. In addition to these, adjustments to improve performance of some sub weapons have also been made.

Along with this update, additional adjustments have been made to refine matchmaking criteria in Ranked Battles so players with much closer Power Rating will get matched up even in the same rank. How much ranks rise or fall will be adjusted based on this criteria. The tendency for rank above S+ will not change with this update.

The next update is scheduled in mid-October and will target performance improvement of some main weapons.

We received an urgent notification from Grizzco Industries:

“Due to…uh….tentacle difficulties, the weapons for the Salmon Run shift that starts Friday, September 15th at 5PM PT will be unknown until you clock in. And also, one of my personal belongings was accidentally mixed in to the weapon pool. If you happen to come across it, don’t even think about stealing it or go blabbing to the media about it. Failure to comply is grounds for immediate termination.”

File:S2 Kelp Dome Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

Do you have the sudden urge to fight under a large glass dome? Although this is a very specific (and peculiar) urge, Friday’s stage update can help.

The popular Kelp Dome stage from the original Splatoon game is making a comeback. Our researchers have discovered some fresh twists from the first game, such as extra grates to slip through and a bit of added turf on each side. Be careful on the catwalks – there’s no place to hide up there! The Kelp Dome stage will be available to play Friday evening.

File:Snapper Canal 1.jpg

We also have received some details on an upcoming new stage called Snapper Canal. In this stage, a river is running right down the middle!

The key to victory may be figuring out how to break into the central area and push through to the other team’s base.

File:S2 Tenta Brella Tumblr SplatoonUS Image1.jpg

It appears a new Brella weapon, called the Tenta Brella, will also be available soon.

It’s sort of like a regular umbrella, but it kinda looks like a big camping tent, capable of guarding over a large area. We will continue to research this weapon, and marshmallows and hot dogs may be involved.

File:S2 Heavy Splatling Deco Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

Tonight, the Heavy Splatling Deco will be added to Ammo Knights! The Heavy Splatling Deco has the same stats as the Heavy Splatling, but comes with a snazzy new look. The main difference has to do with its Sub and Special weapons: this set comes with the protective Splash Wall and the fearsome Bubble Blower. Sheldon recommends this set to players who want to weave together solid strategy with fabulous style!

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch

15 September 2017

There is much science happening with today’s new weapon. According to Sheldon, the Rapid Blaster Pro uses a chamber system that delays oxidization to the last possible instance. So what does this mean exactly? An incredible range, that’s what!

This range is made even more dangerous with the Toxic Mist Sub weapon and Ink Storm Special (which is, of course, excellent for providing cover for your teammates). Overall, it’s a kit for the more technically minded Inklings out there.

Hopefully these findings will help your own Inkling research later tonight when the weapon becomes available.

@nintendotreehouse

For those who seek safety during a downpour, it may be time to pitch a Tenta Brella! According to our research, the new Tenta Brella weapon will be available tonight! For even more details, check out this report from a source calling itself the Nintendo Treehouse Log. Does this source have academic credibility?

October

File:Snapper Canal 2.jpg

We just heard that tomorrow at 7 AM PT, October 6th, a new stage named Snapper Canal will be added to the rotation!

Battles will take place on a riverbed that’s under construction. Try not to blindly rush in – it’s easy to fall into the central waterway if you’re not paying attention. The ground is also lower near the water, so watch out for foes with long range weapons on the platforms above. The key will be finding out how to successfully cross the water and continue the fight on the other side. There may be some snappy comebacks during these fights, so be prepared to make some snap decisions!

October is here and that means it’s time for a spooky Splatfest! Will you sink your teeth into Team Vampire or have a howling good time with Team Werewolf? Or maybe you’re a fan of fangs? Oh wait, they both have fangs. My, this is going to be a tough one!

Splatfest kicks off Friday, October 13th at 9PM PT!

File:S2 Bamboozler 14 Mk I Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

Reports are in that a new Charger will hit Ammo Knights tonight. The Bamboozler 14 Mk I has a biodegradable look to it: we hear that it’s a tribute to a legendary squid squad leader (a leader who must have been very fearsome indeed!). Because of its unique design, this weapon can’t actually store a charge…but it does have a good rate of fire and decent mobility when fully charged. The kit also comes with Curling Bombs and Tenta Missiles to round things out.

Hopefully these findings will help your own Inkling research.

[PSA] Tonight, October 10, a software update (Ver. 1.4.0) will be released. Prior to this update, server maintenance will take place from 5:50 PM - 7:30 PM Pacific Time.

The biggest changes in Ver. 1.4.0 are adjustments for some main and special weapons, plus improved performance of certain Gear Abilities.

The next update is planned in late November.

File:S2 Custom E-liter 4K Twitter SplatoonJP Image1.jpg

What? Do your eyes deceive you? No, the headline is correct: TWO new weapons will be available later tonight. Namely, the Custom E-liter 4K and the Custom E-liter 4K Scope. So what are the differences? Our data should help out there!

Overall, both of these charger weapons are very similar to the original E-liter 4K. However, the version with the scope has a bit longer range…the tradeoff is that you can’t store a charged shot as a squid. It all depends on what is more important to you: range or flexibility. Decisions, decisions!

Both kits also come with the Squid Beakon sub weapon and the Bubble Blower special to round it out.

13 October 2017

Splatfest kicks off tonight, Friday the 13th at 9PM PT and ends Saturday the 14th at 9PM PT.

During this spooky Splatfest, we hear there will also be a new layout of Shifty Station. What will it look like? The anticipation is killing us! Killing us! Get it? Because it’s Friday the 13th and the theme is spoo—oh forget it.

According to our reports, it may be time to arrange a range change (which may be a little strange). The Range Blaster will be available later tonight! True to its name, the ink from this blaster has an extended range before it explodes. Just note that the trade-off is a slower rate of fire (there’s always a catch!). Rounding out the kit are Suction Bombs and the Ink Storm special.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch #Nintendo

20 October 2017

Reports are in that Blackbelly Skatepark is preparing for a grand reopening on Friday, October 27th! Some may remember this stage from before: it features many ramps and hills, and the cylindrical tower is still found smack dab in the middle. However, after performing a highly scientific comparison, it appears that the two spawn points are further back on elevated platforms. This means added protection from enterprising enemies who may be hanging about.

#Splatoon 2 #Nintendo Switch

26 October 2017

Greetings, everyone! Today’s weapon report is very dynamic because it’s about a Dynamo. Err, does that make it Dynamo-ic? We’ll work on that phrasing, but more important is that the Gold Dynamo Roller will be available starting tonight!

It’s functionally the same as the Dynamo Roller (except it looks more expensive). This means that you’ll still have a weighty roller that’s designed for high strength and long range. However, this kit also comes with the Splat Bomb sub weapon and the Ink Armor special – making it much easier to fight near the front lines of battle.

November

We received a transmission that a huge Splatoon 2 LAN tournament is being planned for Boston this weekend, Nov 4-5, and it’s organized by some friends of the Squid Research Lab. Hosted at the Balance Patch Gaming Cafe in Boston, they’re bringing 2 full days of inking action featuring top players and teams, including members of Set To Destroy X (previously Deadbeat), who won the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational!

All the action will be streamed by EndGameTV. If any local Boston squids are interested, you can check out more details here and here. We can’t wait to see which team comes out on top in one of the biggest Splatoon 2 LAN tournaments yet!

Hello, fellow researchers. A new custom weapon is rumored to be available tonight at Ammo Knights and it’s customary for us to note this in our research. If you head there tonight, you may find the Custom Jet Squelcher!

Like the other “custom” weapons we’ve seen before, this one is bringing a different look to an old favorite. It has equal stats to the Jet Squelcher, which means you’ll still get that delightful range. However, the kit has been modified to include the Burst Bomb sub weapon and Sting Ray special. This kit is all about options, so be sure to take your time and try everything out.

We just heard there’s been an update to the SplatNet 2 app. A page for Salmon Run has been added, so now you can check not only the shift schedule, but also the stage and supplied weapons. Just like the in-game schedule, the app displays info for the next 5 work-shifts, with more detailed info for the next two shifts.

You may also notice the menu bar design on the bottom has slightly changed to improve usability, making it easier to access Annie’s SplatNet shop.
This update is live now, so feel free to check it out yourself!

Reports are in that something a little nouveau will soon be on the shelves of Ammo Knights. “Nouveau” as in “Inkbrush Nouveau.” This bristling beauty matches the stats of the Inkbrush but has a kit that’s built for speed. It comes with the Ink Mine sub weapon and the Baller special to break through your enemies’ defenses.

Good news - the next Splatfest is almost here, and this one is a toughie for lovers of fantastical fiction: do you prefer Science Fiction or Fantasy?

Hmmm, this isn’t an easy decision – but Splatfests aren’t about easy decisions! Do you prefer exploring space or slaying dragons? Technology or magic? Aliens or fairies? Hot dogs or sandwiches?!

(Wait. Disregard that last one.)

If you have a strong opinion about this debate, don’t forget to start the game up later tonight and pledge allegiance to lasers or lances.

It appears we are on a “roll” with our latest research. The Foil Flingza Roller will be available later this evening! MakoMart, the most popular superstore in Inkopolis, is now a battle stage! Since they sell many products in bulk, Inklings often buy groceries with their teammates and split things up among themselves later.

A new band called the Bottom Feeders has been tearing up the Inkopolis charts lately. The band is fronted by a tropical-betta-fish violinist, features vocals by a dude made of seaweed, and also includes a shark, a scallop, and a globefish. Their unforgiving yet catchy music style is the product of fusing ancient Celtic sea shanties with punk rock.

OH RIGHT! It’s Walleye Warehouse! There are likely a lot of veteran Inklings who still recall exciting and fierce battles that took place here.

It appears that the online shopping market has been growing enormously even in this squid world, and the warehouse is operating at full capacity. Walleye Warehouse will be open for battle in mid-December!

The Shellendorf Institute is a prestigious museum that’s been educating young Inklings for over 120 years. And it’s now also a battle stage! While you’re playing, please be careful to treat the exhibits with respect–especially the giant ancient fossil suspended from the ceiling.

We’re a bit surprised that the museum agreed to host ink battles here, but maybe attendance has been down lately. I know you’re excited, but hold your sea horses–they won’t be opening their doors until January.

Discerning Inklings can’t stop talking about the band Ink Theory. This classically trained, all-female 6-piece band creates jazz and samba-inspired battle music. We discovered some details on a few of the upcoming weapons spotted in the recent trailer. Glooga Dualies are a dualie-type weapon whose power increases immediately following a dodge-roll. The Squeezer is a shooter-type where pulling the trigger once will squirt out a single high-power ink shot. But you can also hold down to fire continuously. The Undercover Brella is a brella-type with lower durability but lets you fire even while the protective canopy is open. 8 December 2017

Attention! Clam Blitz, a fierce new Ranked Battle mode, will be added to Splatoon 2 on the evening of December 12th – Wait a sec, that’s tonight! Our dedicated team of researchers have been investigating this latest phenomenon, and managed to grab some fresh new footage.

What’s it all about?

In Clam Blitz, you’ll find clams scattered all over the stage. Collect them, then head to your opponents’ base and fire them into the enemy basket. First team to score 100 points wins!

Sounds kinda easy…

Yeah, maybe. If the enemy basket wasn’t protected by an almighty clam-repelling barrier of doom! Ahem… To break through this mysterious barrier, you’ll first need to create a Power Clam by rounding up 10 standard clams.

So I’ve got a Power Clam. Now what?

Now BOOYAH! Take aim and smash that sucker right through and fire all your clams into the basket. Breaking through the barrier will net you 20 points, while each clam you toss in after that is worth 3 points.

Will that barrier stay down for the whole match?

Not likely! As soon as you break through, it’ll start to repair itself. By chucking clams in, you can extend the timer a little, but once it hits zero, the pesky thing will be back to dam your clams.

Moral of the story? As soon as you break through, toss in as many clams as you can possibly muster. It’s a shellfish siege!

What if the enemy breaks through my team’s barrier?

Fight back with all your might and prepare to counter-attack – once your barrier’s back up, a Power Clam will appear at your basket, so you can go up the other end and give ‘em what for.

Anything else I need to know?

· If you get splatted, you’ll drop all the clams you were carrying

· If a teammate gets splatted, pick their clams up before the enemy does

· You can pass clams to a teammate with the A Button or L Button if you think it’ll help

· If the time runs out before a team reaches 0, the team with the highest score wins

All right, I’m in. When can I start playing?

Going forward, it’ll be in Ranked & League Battle rotation alongside the existing Tower Control, Splat Zones and Rainmaker modes.

And don’t forget, you can record your most glorious Clam Blitz moments by holding the Capture Button, then upload the goods to social media for instant bragging rights.

Ah, there’s something new about today. As new and satisfying as a fresh coat of paint. Let us introduce the brand-new Squeezer!

Based on our recent findings, the Squeezer is a new type of shooter with multiple firing modes. Squeeze once for a single high-power ink shot. Hold down to fire continuously. Like any good piece of spy equipment, the Undercover Brella is not what it seems. Our research has revealed that the canopy-launching mechanism has been removed to allow for rapid fire, and this Brella can even be fired when the canopy is open! Very surprising given that it looks like a normal umbrella to the untrained eye.
