Competitive:Messtival! 5
Messtival! 5 was a Splatoon online tournament held on May 15th, 2016. [1] Alongside three other tournaments, Messtival! 5 functioned as a qualifier for the Splatoon Anniversary Invitational.
It was the eight tournament in the Messtival! tournament series.

Rules
The tournament will introduce a new system where no team gets eliminated in the group stage.
It will start with a round robin group stage where all 32 entrants will be divided over 8 groups. Every team plays each opponent in their group in a Best-of-3 match. For each match, a time limit of 30 minutes is in place. Stalling or not finishing the match in time can and will result in penalties.
Out of each group, the top 2 will move to the major bracket and the bottom 2 will move to the minor bracket. As a result, there will be 2 DE brackets allowing for no teams to get eliminated from the group stage.
The final stage will be ran as Double-Elimination bracket for both the major and the minor bracket. Matches on the winners side of these brackets will be Best-of-5, while the matches on the losers side will be Best-of-3. The only exceptions are the grand finals and (if needed) bracket reset, which will be a Best-of-7 match.
