Pearl's page currently has that one species of rockfish as the meaning for Pearl's last name, Houzuki, but I'm pretty sure that it actually comes from "Daio- Houzuki Ika", the Colossal Squid. The "daio-" part in the name for colossal squid means "great/giant king", which matches with her given name Hime also meaning princess. Additionally, the fact that her last name comes from Colossal Squid and her given name comes from the Northen Pygmy Squid makes for an ironic contrast, with her family name being a huge squid and her given name being a tiny squid. | |||

Pearl's ear size
So, in the final boss of Octo Expansion, when Pearl's special is ready, you can see her ears and they are shown to be small. Pearl's Full Japanese Name
Pearl's page currently has that one species of rockfish as the meaning for Pearl's last name, Houzuki, but I'm pretty sure that it actually comes from "Daio- Houzuki Ika", the Colossal Squid. The "daio-" part in the name for colossal squid means "great/giant king", which matches with her given name Hime also meaning princess.
