Time On Inkipedia

How did you put how long you have been with Inkipedia on your user page? Mipha (talk) 23:21, 4 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Mipha: I used Template:InkFor. Heddy (talk) 19:35, 10 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I tried to do that and followed the template and example and the box didn't appear in my user page. Mipha (talk) 04:56, 15 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Mipha: You have "nowiki" tags around it. Nowiki tags disable any special formatting, so if you remove them it will work. Heddy (talk) 13:44, 15 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Ok thanks! Mipha (talk) 01:13, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I fixed the no wiki thing I think but the date part isn't working Mipha (talk) 02:05, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Mipha: Your edit shows that you removed it completely. You should add it back, just without the nowiki tags. Heddy (talk) 02:08, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks! It works now! :) Mipha (talk) 02:12, 16 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also, I know im a total noob on this stuff but, how much experience would I need to be a patroller? Mipha (talk) 04:38, 17 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Mipha: Before people become a patroller I think they should have the following experience:

  1. At least 100 edits to Inkipedia articles (user page edits don't count)
  2. At least a few months of editing Inkipedia or wikis in general
  3. Knows how to review recent changes, improve upon or revert recent edits, and help other users with those edits

Heddy (talk) 04:45, 17 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Ok so quite a while for me, thanks for telling me the requirements though. Mipha (talk) 00:41, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
They aren't hard and set requirements—they're pretty loose in that regard. Being a member of staff is more reflective of actual contributions (quality + quantity both), character, and ability to effectively communicate and work with others. This is a pretty general thing for most sites you'll find, not just Inkipedia. Being promoted is really an earned title, not one met as a requirement per se. Trig - 01:38, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I agree with the above. Generally the best patrollers are the people who were already patrolling recent changes and helping the community on a regular basis, before getting the actual patroller position. Heddy (talk) 12:15, 18 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello, if it's possible, I would like to translate some articles into Korean. What should I do? ZINGOKOREA (talk) 08:35, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Miss Delibrada's Patroller Promotion

Hey Heddy,

A few weeks ago, I nominated @Miss Delibirda for patroller. As it has been two weeks and a consensus (all for), we need an admin's final say. Would you be willing to do this? I would appreciate it, and I think Miss Delibrada would too.

Thanks, Xan S2 Brand Toni Kensa.png 01:07, 7 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Image uploading from other site?

Uh, so, I'm trying to upload a sprite image from the OMORI wiki, but no matter what I try, it keeps saying the file seems to be empty. I've never uploaded an image before, so I need a bit of help. (In case you're wondering, I want to upload it for my user page.) Thanks! Hae S2 Gear Headgear Golden Toothpick.png JPTInkbrushNouveau.png S3 Badge Inkbrush Nouveau 5.png (chat) 19:32, 13 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Make sure it's one of the permitted file types listed on the upload page. If it's empty, then it sounds like you may have been unsuccessful at downloading the file, so you should try again if that's the case. Heddy (talk) 08:49, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay, finally got it to work! Thanks a ton! Hae S2 Gear Headgear Golden Toothpick.png JPTInkbrushNouveau.png S3 Badge Inkbrush Nouveau 5.png (chat) 18:00, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Also, I was originally going to upload the sprite image, but I changed it to a different image of the same character. Hae S2 Gear Headgear Golden Toothpick.png JPTInkbrushNouveau.png S3 Badge Inkbrush Nouveau 5.png (chat) 18:01, 14 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Inkfest!

Hello! I see that you are active on Inkepedia a lot, so I wanted to invite you to vote and/or participate in my inkfest! I plan for it to happen in late January (very tentative), but I just wanted to make people aware! Thanks, Xan S2 Brand Toni Kensa.png 22:58, 18 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Contesting revert

Hello Heddy, I would like to contest this revert on the Charger page.

The descriptions of weapons in the table do not need to have unnecessary information, and, in my opinion, should focus on what sets the weapons apart. I thought that I had more neatly achieved this goal than the current state of the article.

Most chargers can store their charge, it is exceptional when one cannot, and noting that a charger cannot store its charge does not require noting the mechanic was added in Splatoon 2, as it will be true in all games in the series, as opposed to the inverse which would need to be noted on most chargers and requires the fact that it is only true post-Splatoon 2 noted, adding unnecessary clutter to what is supposed to be a short summary of the weapon so that one can compare them at a glance. I also think that important information added in regards to the Goo Tuber, Snipewriter, and Bamboozler's characteristics was lost in the revert.

I do believe I was incorrect in not noting that the aerial charge mechanic for the Squiffer was added in Splatoon 2, however. I also do not 100% believe that I am correct on this, and the previous state of the page may have been better, I am willing to listen if you disagree with me. Inkublu 🖤 (talk) 05:16, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I only just noticed this similar revert to the Classic Squiffer page, and in this case I partially disagree with the revert - the fact that the aerial charge mechanic was added in Splatoon 2 is important and should be noted in the Splatoon 2 section, as you did, however I also believe it should be in the intro to the article as it is a unique characteristic of this charger in Splatoon 2 onwards that sets it apart, and users read this section of the article to learn what sets this weapon apart in general (though it should still be noted there that the mechanic was added in Splatoon 2) Inkublu 🖤 (talk) 05:24, 21 December 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Inkublu please be careful when writing these descriptions as they are supposed to summarize a weapon that exists in 3 games. Since Splatoon does not have charge storage, it's not good to mention charge storage without clarification. About Classic Squiffer, yes I agree that it would be good to mention that in the lead section as long as it's clarified which games have or don't have the feature. A Splatfest change

I was wondering if we should add an end date for the splatfest box. I think we should because if there is a start date, and i don't think that anyone is going to click the pic just to see the date. They could look at the main page but what if someone was it set that they have load on to their account when they click a link to Inkipedia. Thank you. Splat.girl (talk) 22:51, 30 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The end time or countdown is already displayed when a Splatfest event starts. Heddy (talk) 00:52, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh. But where is it displayed. If it is in the game than why can't we add it here? Splat.girl (talk) 19:56, 31 January 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
It's displayed right above the image once the event starts. Heddy (talk) 02:05, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Idk, can I just add it anyway Splat.girl (talk) 22:58, 3 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'm personally not interested in adding another date because I feel having it show up when the event starts is sufficient, and people needing to know more can just select the link and read the article. After all, the purpose of the main page is to feature content and get people reading wiki articles. While I'm personally not interested in that suggested change, you could still discuss your idea with others on the Main Page's talk page or the Ink Pump. Heddy (talk) 22:17, 19 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

How do you sync the stage schedule for Splatoon 2's schedule page?

I made a Splatoon 3 version today and I wanna implement the same technique for the page. How do I do that? Plus, there is a glitch with my page for the Salmon Run shift times. How do I fix it? KPOfficial26 (talk) 22:48, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You need programming skills to get that done. If I recall correctly, the entire Splatoon 2 schedule was created by GuyPerfect, a talented coder. The schedule uses a script that gathers data from SplatNet. You can view the splatoon3.ink code that powers the https://splatoon3.ink/ website if you want an example to borrow from. Heddy (talk) 01:30, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The script is ready. Just waiting for the webmaster to implement it. Shahar (talk) 11:00, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Site Color template

About the OE site color, I think it would be better if it was the same pink color that it is now, but it should have the neon greenish blue border that is always with that pink color in OE material. What do you think? BobbyBobbyIcon.png(talk) 17:03, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

As far as I can tell, all the site colors are a single color with opacity variation to give the impression that multiple colors are used. So I'm not sure if multiple colors can even be implemented. If you want to propose a change you can bring it up on Inkipedia talk:Ink Pump or Template talk:SiteColor. Heddy (talk) 21:06, 12 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

However, no one else may blank the page or request deletion of their userpage. Heddy (talk) 01:45, 24 February 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Help with profile editing

How do I put my current banner and stuff on there like some others on here do? And does anybody know how to get the splatoon emojis on my profile? ~Libby~ (talk) 15:43, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Libby: The easiest way is to go to a page you like, press "edit source", and copy the relevant code, then paste in your own user page. What do you mean by "splatoon emojis"? You can type or paste normal emojis but I haven't heard of Splatoon having its own emojis. If you mean emotes, you can go to the emote article, source edit to find the filename to copy, and then paste that into your page. Heddy (talk) 15:47, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My Sandbox page

Hi Heddy. I am aware of the new policy that was put in place last night. I have put a lot of time and effort into my Sandbox page, and I don't want it to go to waste. So I'm planning on moving it over to another site, but I don't know where exactly to move it to. What site would you suggest? WolfTamerRotM Icon Agent 1.png 10:59, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@WolfTamer: The most important thing to do first is to save a copy of everything on your PC/iPad/whatever. That way, your content will be safe if you haven't uploaded it elsewhere before the September deadline.
In the future there may be a Splatoon fanon wiki for this type of content, as Trig Jegman has been talking about creating such a wiki.
You could also try general fanon wikis (not specific to Splatoon), or you could create a blog using a website like Tumblr or another blog service.
Let me know if you have any questions! Heddy (talk) 22:26, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Okay, thanks! I just created an account for the Fanon Wiki, but I can't upload any files there until I'm an autoconfirmed user on that wiki. I'll transfer the page as soon as I can. WolfTamerRotM Icon Agent 1.png 23:28, 20 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Question

Hi! i'm sort of confused, and this has nothing to do with the new rule that's taken place... I just wanted to ask someone and that someone is you since I think you would give me the best formal answer. What are sandboxes for? I've seen people put their OC (Original Characters) in there, and then i've seen people who have been putting strips of coding in there; so I wanted to burden someone with the question, what is the purpose of a sandbox? HatedS3 Badge E-liter 4K 5.png 00:41, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

You can use your Sandbox page for just about anything, just as long as it follows Inkipedia's guidelines. However, I would not recommend putting pictures of your OC's on your user page. I did that, and I'm going to have to move my Sandbox page to another wiki, since it violates the new user file policy. WolfTamerRotM Icon Agent 1.png 00:46, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Would it matter if I put pictures of my OCS but they didn't pass the limit of how many pictures there can be on a user page? HatedS3 Badge E-liter 4K 5.png 00:48, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Yes, just as long as the images follow the guidelines, and the amount of images doesn't exceed the amount stated in user image guidelines. WolfTamerRotM Icon Agent 1.png 00:57, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Sandboxes are pages created for experimenting and test edits. If you're going to make a page dedicated to OCs, it may be best to give the page an actual name instead of calling it "Sandbox" but that's up to you. Heddy (talk) 10:34, 25 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What edits do I need to review?

I've been demoted recently from autopatroller, because of "edits needing review". What edits do I need to review? KPOfficial26 (talk) 17:11, 5 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

To be clear, autopatrol is not a rank. Autopatrolled users are trusted to make high quality edits which do not need to be reviewed by patrollers, thus reducing the amount of edits patrollers need to review. Wiki staff decided that your edits still need to be reviewed and are not consistently high quality to warrant being autopatrolled. The removal of your autopatrol is not a demotion and nothing changes on your end, it only helps patrollers ensure that all edits meet Inkipedia's standards. EminenceTalk 17:40, 5 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
What Eminence said is correct. While being removed from autopatrol isn't necessarily a bad thing, in this case I believe I added you to the group prematurely. Usually we add people to that group when they are so experienced at editing that they are extremely unlikely to go against Inkipedia policy or expectations. I believe you have room for growth and improvement as an editor. Specifically, please make sure to respond to Inkipedians when they contact you on talk page about editing issues. You don't have to review anything at this time. Thanks for your contributions! Heddy (talk) 00:28, 6 June 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Adding translations

Hello, if it's possible, I would like to translate some articles into Korean. What should I do? ZINGOKOREA (talk) 08:35, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hello there. First of all, Korean translations have nothing to do with the subject of this particular discussion. You should instead add a new section at the bottom of the page, which is what I have done. Second, if you would like to add some translations, you can look through pages to find ones that are missing translations, or you can use the category for pages that need translations. However, machine translations are not allowed, so make sure to only translate languages of which you are a native speaker. Thanks! EminenceTalk 11:19, 27 August 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Flags for Austria and Belgium

I am in the process of completing the page for the Splatoon 3 European Championship 2023 and have found that the Flag template does not have flags for participating countries Austria and Belgium. How does one add them?

@DaDoc540 I went ahead and added them! To answer your question directly, the Flag template can be edited at Module:Flag and the images are normally found on Wikipedia and uploaded here with filenames like FlagCountry.svg. Heddy (talk) 00:53, 9 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Trivia talk

Dear Heddy,

I have recently been suspended from Inkipedia for putting lots of unnoteworthy things in the trivia sections. I want to avoid being suspended for that again, so I'd like your approval on the following trivia points I want to write:

  • The Inkbrush Nouveau is currently the only Ultra Stamp weapon in Splatoon 3 with a returning kit (that of the Camo Tenta Brella).
  • Curling Bomb is the only sub to have gotten a new weapon at every major update in 2023 (Clash Blaster Neo, Painbrush, Heavy Edit Splatling and Enperry Splat Dualies).
  • The Blaster/Hero Blaster Replica always has the same special as the Splat Roller/Hero Roller Replica (Killer Wail, then Splashdown, then Big Bubbler).
  • The Splat Charger and its scope are the only Ink Vack weapons whose sub is a bomb (the others have Ink Mine, Squid Beakon, Toxic Mist, Splash Wall, Sprinkler, and Angle Shooter).
  • The S-Blast 91 is the first new Booyah Bomb weapon since the two that debuted on Drizzle Season 2022 (Aerospray RG and Forge Splattershot Pro).
  • On the Special page, there is a trivia point that says "The Bomb Rush is also the only special weapon in Splatoon that has not been repurposed or modified in Splatoon 3." I'd like to change that to say "The Bomb Rush is also the only special in Splatoon with no direct successor in Splatoon 3. User:Driftin Soul claims that the Bomb Rush and the Super Chumps are "too dissimilar" to be considered a rework, but I think that the latter is similar enough to at least be considered an indirect successor. However, I don't want to start an edit war.

Also, I'd like to merge the pages for the E-Liter 3K and the E-Liter 4K, but I can't figure out how to do it. Can you help me?AlexD830 (talk) 04:41, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

First off, I appreciate your concern for not trying to start edit wars, but you don't need an admin's approval for stuff like these. Inkipedia is a free wiki that can be edited by anyone after all. If you think they are not helpful trivia points, then you don't need to add them. Additionally, the E-liter 3k and 4k are two completely separate weapons from different games, so merging is not an option for these two. Thank you! OrderSquid38 New Squid.jpg OrderSquid38 [Talk] 04:48, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Just because two weapons have different names does not mean that they are two completely different weapons. If I can't merge the pages for the E-Liters, then can I merge the pages for the Kelp, Firefin and Z+F Splat Chargers? Surely those you consider direct successors.AlexD830 (talk) 17:14, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
They have different names and they are separate weapons. Sheldon mentions that the E-liter 4k is a different model than the 3k in Splatoon 2, making them two different weapons. S3 Badge Nautilus 47 5.pngFancyRatCredits - Inkling Boy Eating Popsicle.png 17:17, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
First off, agreed with what OrderSquid has said.
I also want to note that I did not make a unilateral call on the Super Chump point; I discussed with other editors in the Discord and they agreed it was a stretch to compare it to the Bomb Rush. Driftin Soul (talk) 04:52, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
