Classic Squiffer
The Classic Squiffer is a main weapon in the Splatoon series.
The Classic Squiffer is a charger-type weapon that charges faster than a Splat Charger, and uses less ink, but has less range.
Appearance
At the back end of the Classic Squiffer is a light-blue bottle of cleaning spray with a blue label sticker. Said sticker has the Dolphin logo on it. The part of the spray bottle that attaches the bottle to the nozzle is blue and much longer than usual, extending almost to the end of the nozzle and then wrapping around and going almost all the way back. The handle and trigger have been combined with and situated at the back end of the attaching piece. The nozzle itself is white with supports that change color to match the user's ink.
In Splatoon 3, the weapon's spray bottle now has a different design. There is now duct tape wrapped around the bottom and near the cap and a rubber band around the barrel and the now transparent blue frame.

Sheldon's Introduction
The Classic Squiffer - for a charge weapon, it's lacking in range, but in return it can charge up much faster. Use the Bubbler to get in close after zeroing in on your opponents with the Point Sensor! This set is an excellent choice for fighters who are confident taking out foes with a decisive shot.(NA)[a] |

“ | Classic Squiffer report! We've got some hot new info on a cool new weapon! This charger-class gun comes equipped with a miniaturized ink compression tank. Apparently the charge time is short, but it still packs a serious punch! Sounds like the range leaves a little to be desired, though. Also, despite the fact that the ink tank looks like a recycled cleaning-spray bottle, we haven't been able to confirm whether or not this weapon is good for attacking household surfaces. I'm guessing not, but who knows... Maybe it can cut grease and shine your kitchen counters in addition to blasting Turf War opponents! | ” |

Sheldon's Introduction
Ah, the Classic Squiffer. For a charger, it's a bit short on range, but in return it can charge up much more quickly. That allows you to use it in a more offensive way! I mean... being on the offense. Not that the weapon is offensive... except to your opponents. Anyway, I'd take advantage of the Point Sensor sub to coordinate an attack with my teammates. And if my home turf was invaded, I'd deploy the Big Bubbler and hide inside, using that Classic Squiffer action to snipe enemies. Comfy in close range with a charger? This set is for you! |
“ | Next up is the Classic Squiffer. It's a lightweight charger that charges so quickly we hesitate to even call it a charger! (But to be technically correct, we will continue to do so.) It doesn't have great range, but rewards a dynamic play style with plenty of stop-and-pop action. | ” | — @SplatoonNA on Twitter[6]

Trivia
- The Classic Squiffer appears to be designed after a spray bottle.
- The Classic Squiffer is one of the few weapons for which it is not apparent by its name that it is the first kit released for that weapon. Some other weapons that share this distinction are the Dark Tetra Dualies, the Nautilus 47, Snipewriter 5H, and the Mint Decavitator.
- The Squiffer was originally called "Quick Ink Rifle", as seen in an image from before Splatoon's release, and it came with Splat Bombs and Bubbler. This set was later given to the Splattershot Jr. and Splat Bombs were given to the Splat Charger and Splatterscope.
- In all three games, the Classic Squiffer has had Point Sensor as its sub weapon and various forms of a protection-based special weapon.
- When Point Sensor comes up on Judd's trials, the player is equipped with the Classic Squiffer.
Etymology
Squiffer is a portmanteau of "squid" and "Swiffer", an American brand of cleaning products, while Classic denotes that it is the default variant of the Squiffer.
