Inkbrush Nouveau

The Inkbrush Nouveau is a main weapon in the Splatoon series. It is the Nouveau-branded version of the Inkbrush.

Appearance

The Inkbrush Nouveau is nearly identical in appearance to the Inkbrush. The only difference between the two is that the Inkbrush Nouveau has a sticker bearing the Nouveau logo on the metal part. In Splatoon 3, the Inkbrush Nouveau has a slightly updated appearance, now having lighter-toned bristles and a brass ferrule.

The Inkbrush Nouveau was released on 1 August 2015 at 02:00 UTC. The Inkbrush Nouveau is a variation of the Inkbrush, maintaining the same stats, but instead comes with Ink Mines and the Bubbler.

• For normal attacks, ink loses damage based on distance traveled. Ink starts losing damage at 40 units and stops losing damage at 100 units. The minimum damage is 15.
• In situations where ink falls down, the ink will lose damage as it falls. The minimum damage for falling ink is 7.5.
• Damage does not change based on the angle of the ink.

The Inkbrush Nouveau returns in Splatoon 3. Its design is similar to the Inkbrush, but its bristles are lighter, the and the metal part on the paint tube is now brass instead of silver. Its kit contains Ink Mines and the Ultra Stamp. It debuted in Chill Season 2022.

Etymology

Inkbrush Nouveau is a combination of Ink and Brush, as well as Nouveau, french for New. Nouveau may also refer to Art Nouveau. The suffix Nouveau is also used to differentiate it from the Inkbrush. This trait is shared among the other alternate sets of the Nouveau brand.

パブロ・ヒュー Paburo hyū is a reference to Pablo Picasso, a famous Spanish Cubist artist. ヒュー hyū refers to [[WP:Hue|hue]. Like Nouveau in the English name, Hue is used to differentiate it from the Inkbrush.
