Octobrush Nouveau

The Octobrush Nouveau is a main weapon in Splatoon and Splatoon 2. It is the Nouveau version of the Octobrush.

Appearance

The Octobrush Nouveau is nearly identical to the Octobrush. The only difference between the two is that the Octobrush Nouveau has a sticker bearing the Nouveau logo near the front of the handle.

The Octobrush Nouveau is a roller main weapon that was released on 1 January 2016 at 10:00 UTC in Splatoon. It comes with Splat Bombs and the Inkzooka. This weapon has a critical damage mechanic, sometimes allowing for two-hit splats. The probability of scoring a two-hit splat can be increased using Damage Up.

• Ink globs travel straight for 7 frames.
• Damage does not change based on the angle of the ink.
• When rolling, the Octobrush Nouveau leaves an ink trail that is 18 units wide.

• In both games, this weapon was released to coincide with the Japanese tradition of kakizome ("first writing"), which is when one writes their first calligraphy of the year. SplatoonJP's Tweet on the weapon's release in Splatoon acknowledges this, jokingly telling players to have their "first inking."
• This weapon is tied with the Neo Sploosh-o-matic and H-3 Nozzlenose for the cheapest Tenta Missiles in the game with 170p.

Etymology

Octobrush is a combination of octo (Latin for "eight"; likely referring the octopus-shaped ink reservoir) and brush. The suffix Nouveau is used to differentiate it from the Octobrush and might also referring the Art Nouveau. This trait is shared among the other alternate sets of the Nouveau brand.
