Data

  • The Tempered Dynamo Roller is a heavyweight weapon.
  • Ink consumption while rolling is 6% per second.
  • Ink consumption per attack is 20%.
    • This allows players to attack 5 times before needing to refill the ink supply.
    • This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
  • The weapon can attack with a depleted ink tank, but the damage of that attack is reduced to 40% of the normal amount.
  • Rolling with a depleted ink tank will not leave a trail or damage opponents.
  • When attacking, it takes 45 frames to lift the roller (0.75 seconds).
  • When rolling, the player's movement speed is set to 0.96 units per frame.
  • When rolling on an uninkable surface or with a depleted ink tank, the player's movement speed is set to 0.96 units per frame.
  • After rolling, there is a 0.33 second cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
  • After swinging, there is a 1.33 second cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
  • Hitting an opponent while rolling deals 160 damage.
  • Attacks have a base damage of 125.
  • For normal attacks, ink loses damage based on distance traveled. Ink starts losing damage at 110 units and stops losing damage at 170 units. The minimum damage is 25.
  • Ink globs travel straight for 6 frames.
  • Ink flung from the center of the roller does the greatest damage. Ink that flies to the left or right will have lower damage. This low-damage ink starts losing damage after traveling a distance of 155 units and stops losing damage at 170 units. The maximum damage is 50 and the minimum damage is 25.
  • When rolling, the Tempered Dynamo Roller leaves an ink trail that is 60 units wide.

Sheldon's Introduction

This beauty is the Tempered Dynamo Roller. It simply oozes style! Check out the sweet burnt effect. The addition of Seekers has really improved this set's manoeuvrability and ability to pressure the front lines. When you've got 'em on the back foot, BAM! Killer Wail! This set suits battlers who like to pile on the pressure!

Meet the Tempered Dynamo Roller. This heavy-weight roller gained mobility to quickly run up to the front lines by adding the Seeker as a sub weapon. The quiet but tasteful color tone might lull your opponents into a sense of security before BAM! Killer Wail! Pile on the pressure!

Trivia

  • At 36,800 cash, the Tempered Dynamo Roller is the most expensive weapon in Splatoon. This surpasses the highest possible cost for a piece of gear by about three times.
  • This weapon was absent from Splatoon 2, likely in favor of the Kensa Dynamo Roller being the new third variant of the Dynamo Roller.

Etymology

Tempered Dynamo Roller is derived from Dynamo and Roller, plus the word Tempered. Dynamo is a type of electrical generator, which the Tempered Dynamo Roller seems partly based on. Tempered refers to tempering, a process in metallurgy that is used to increase the toughness of iron-based alloys, explaining the hue of the metal.

ダイナモローラーバーンド Dainamo Rōrā Bāndo means Dynamo Roller Burned. Burned refers to the fact that it is a Dynamo Roller that has been burnt to be tempered.
