The Aerospray MG is a main weapon in the Splatoon series, created by the weapon brand Ammo Knights.

The Aerospray MG has an extremely high fire rate, but each shot is weak individually. It takes five hits to splat an opponent. It shoots with high spread, allowing its users to quickly cover turf and to hit opponents without perfectly aiming at them.

Appearance

The Aerospray MG is a short, silver gun reminiscent of an aerosol spray pen with a large tank on top bearing the Ammo Knights logo in black. Underneath the tank is a silver pipe that serves as a barrel with a wide nozzle on the end. Attaching the tank to the barrel is a pair of silver supports. Underneath the nozzle is a metal slope seemingly designed to stop ink from getting on the user's hand. In the back of the Aerospray MG is a thin black tube connecting the side of the barrel to the bottom.

The Aerospray MG comes in a set with Seekers and the Inkzooka. It can only be purchased after defeating The Rampaging Octowhirl! boss battle and obtaining its Sunken Scroll. It was created by Sheldon from his grandfather's blueprints.

Data

  • The Aerospray MG is a middleweight weapon.
  • Each shot consumes 0.5% of the ink tank capacity.
    • This allows players to fire 200 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
    • This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
  • When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 4 frames (15 shots per second).
  • When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.72 units per frame.
  • After firing, there is a 20 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
  • Each shot has a base damage of 24.5.
  • Shots travel straight for 3 frames. After that, they may lose damage. A shot will lose damage until it reaches 12.25 damage at frame 15.
  • Shots have a radius of 2 units.
  • The angle its shots can deviate while on the ground is 12 degrees.
  • The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 12 degrees.
  • The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. The outer reticle will finish shrinking after 60 frames.
  • The chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle increases by 10% per shot, and maximizes at a 40% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle.
    • This means that it takes 4 shots to reach minimum accuracy.
  • When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 40%.
  • Accuracy starts recovering 4 frames after the player stops shooting.
  • Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 22 units per frame for 3 frames. Shots travel straight for 66 distance units.
  • Ink droplets occur every 117 units.
  • The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 1 droplets per shot.
  • There are a total of 8 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
  • Droplets that occur within 11 units of the player have a radius of 22 units.
  • Droplets that occur when they travel past 200 units of the player have a radius of 19 units.
  • All other ink droplets have a radius of 13.5 units.

Sheldon's Introduction

Now the Aerospray MG is a shooter I made with a little help from my grandpappy's blueprints. Its range and accuracy are nothing to sneeze at, but the real draw is its amazing rate of fire! The Seekers and the Inkzooka are so easy to use, you're sure to have a blast! Thanks, Grandpappy!

Created by Sheldon from his grandfather's blueprints. Extremely high rate of fire. Each shot is weak individually, but a sustained barrage can really pressure opponents.

The Aerospray MG returns in Splatoon 2 looking identical to how it did in the first game. It comes with Suction Bombs and the Curling-Bomb Launcher.

It appears in one Octo Expansion station:

Data

  • The Aerospray MG is a lightweight weapon.
  • The matchmaking range is 110. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
  • The ink consumption of 0.55% and ink tank capacity of 100% allows players to fire 181 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
  • When initially firing the weapon in humanoid form, the first shot takes 3 frames to come out.
  • When firing from swim form, the first shot takes 10 frames to come out.
  • The interval between firing and when the player is able to enter swim form or use a sub weapon is 2 frames.
  • When firing continuously, it shoots a bullet every 4 frames (15 shots per second).
  • When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.72 units per frame.
  • After firing, there is a 15 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
  • Each shot has a base damage of 24.
  • If a shot is in the air for more than 8 frames after being fired, it loses 0.75 damage per frame until it reaches 12 damage at frame 24.
  • The bullet hitbox has a radius of 2 units.
  • The angle its shots can deviate while on the ground is 13 degrees.
  • The angle its shots can deviate while in the air is 16 degrees.
  • The outer reticle immediately expands after jumping. After 25 frames, the outer reticle will start shrinking, and will finish shrinking after 70 frames.
  • The Aerospray MG starts off having a 6% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle.
    • This chance increases by 3% per shot, and maximizes at a 50% chance to shoot towards the outer reticle, meaning that it takes 15 shots to reach minimum accuracy.
  • When jumping, the chance to shoot towards the outer reticle instead of the inner reticle is immediately set to 40%.
  • Accuracy starts recovering 4 frames after the player stops shooting. The chance to shoot towards the outer reticle decreases by 1% per frame, if the chance is not already at the minimum, meaning that it takes 48 frames to reach maximum accuracy. (38 after shooting while jumping.)
  • Shots initially travel straight at a rate of 22 units per frame for 3 frames. Shots travel straight for 66 distance units.
    • After that, the shot's velocity is set to 18.945 units per frame if it is not already lower than the listed value, and decreases further as it travels.
  • Ink droplets occur every 125 units.
  • The frequency at which ink drips from a shot occurs at a rate of 1 droplets per shot.
  • There are a total of 8 different droplet patterns that can be created while firing this weapon.
  • Droplets that occur within 21 units of the player have a radius of 20 units, and a width of 13 units.
    • These droplets have their radius multiplied by a value ranging from 1.2 if they fell from a height above 100 units to 1.4 if they fell from a height below 30 units.
  • Droplets that occur when they travel past 150 units of the player have a radius of 17.8 units.
  • All other ink droplets have a radius of 12 units.
  • Droplets that are far from the player and all other droplets have their radius multiplied by a value ranging from 1 if they fell from a height above 100 units to 1.2 if they fell from a height below 30 units.
  • If no ink droplets have occurred within 21 units of the player for 4 shots, the next shot the player makes will force a paint droplet to appear at the player's feet.

Appearance

The Aerospray MG resembles an aerosol spray pen. The body of the weapon is silver-colored. Connected to the stock on the top of the weapon is a canister sitting at a 70-degree angle shaped like half of a capsule with a black Ammo Knights logo on it. On the back of the weapon is a thin black tube connected to the bottom of the handle and the stock. Connected to the bottom of the upper forestock is a bent, oval-shaped panel. The muzzle is shaped like a cap.

Sheldon's Introduction

The range and accuracy of the Aerospray MG aren't anything to write home about, but break out a pen and some stationery for its rate of fire! And when you pair a nimble weapon like that with Fizzy Bombs, it makes movement a breeze. You can quickly lock down plenty of turf to help support your teammates. Of course, inking turf is the name of the game, but sometimes you need a little extra OOMPH, and that's where Reefslider special comes in. Ride it to glorious victory! This setup is ideal for players who like to mix it up - tactically pushing the front line and waiting for the right moment to go big.

Trivia

  • The Aerospray MG appears to be designed after an aerograph, a type of airbrush.
  • The "MG" in this weapon's name likely stands for "Master Grade", referencing Bandai's line of 1:100 scale model kits for the anime Mobile Suit Gundam. This is likely because it is common for model kits to be painted with an airbrush and Gundam models are extremely popular in Japan.
  • In Splatoon 2, the Aerospray MG was the only weapon to be unlocked at its level for more than a year-from its debut in July 2017 to the Kensa Splattershot's debut in September 2018.
  • This is one of the weapons available to use in the Splatoon 3 Splatfest World Premiere.
  • When Fizzy Bomb or Reefslider come up in Judd's Trials, the player is equipped with the Aerospray MG in both occasions.
