The H-3 Nozzlenose D is a main weapon in the Splatoon series. It is the heavy version of the L-3 Nozzlenose D and an alternative version of the H-3 Nozzlenose.

Appearance

The H-3 Nozzlenose D is nearly identical in appearance to the H-3 Nozzlenose. The only difference between the two is that the H-3 Nozzlenose D has a sticker bearing the Dolphin logo on the hose. In Splatoon 3, the nozzle and frame are also white instead of black.

The H-3 Nozzlenose D was released on 30 October 2015 at 02:00 UTC.[1][2] Its kit consists of Point Sensor and Inkzooka.

Data

  • The H-3 Nozzlenose D is a middleweight weapon.
  • Each shot consumes 1.6% of the ink tank capacity.
    • This allows players to fire 62 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.
    • This stat can be changed with Ink Saver (Main).
  • When pressing ZR, three shots will be fired at a time, as long as there is enough ink to fire all three.
    • If there is not enough ink to fire all three shots, then zero, one or two shots will be fired instead, depending on how much ink is left in the ink tank.
  • When firing a burst, a shot is fired every 5 frames.
  • After the last shot in a burst is fired, another burst cannot be fired for 20 frames.
  • When firing while moving, the player's movement speed is set to 0.45 units per frame.
  • After firing, there is a 30 frame cooldown before the ink tank starts refilling.
  • Each shot has a base damage of 41.
  • Shots travel straight for 6 frames. After that, they may lose damage. A shot will lose damage until it reaches 20.5 damage at frame 15.

The H-3 Nozzlenose D was announced on 16 March 2018 at 09:00 UTC and released on 17 March 2018 at 02:00 UTC.[4] Its kit consists of Suction Bomb and Ink Armor.

Before being officially announced, the H-3 Nozzlenose D appeared in the Version 3.0.0 preview section of the 8 March 2018 Nintendo Direct.[5]

According to the Oatmealdome datamine from August 2017, the H-3 Nozzlenose D would have had Sprinkler as its sub weapon. However, a later update of the datamine showed the weapon with Suction Bomb, as did the final release.

  • The matchmaking range is 170. The game's matchmaking system looks at a team's average matchmaking range value, and matches them against a team with a similar average.
  • The ink consumption of 2.25% and ink tank capacity of 100% allows players to fire 44 shots before needing to refill the ink supply.

The H-3 Nozzlenose D returns in Splatoon 3 as part of the Sizzle Season 2023 update, set to release on June 1, 2023. The weapon has been received an official Twitter post from Nintendo on 22 May 2023 and its Tableturf Card has been shown in the update's trailer. Its kit consists of Splash Wall and Big Bubbler, carrying on the tradition of giving the H-3 Nozzlenose Splash Wall and a protective special, but doing it on a different variant. Its overall design remains the same as the H-3 Nozzlenose, but with a white and blue color scheme and a Dolphin sticker. Its color scheme is very similar to the L-3 Nozzlenose D.

  • The D in the name likely represents the Dolphin on the side.
