Arowana Mall may be familiar to some, but it's gone through some renovations. Expect many battles at the center of the stage, but don't overlook the newly added elevated platforms - they weren't present in this stage in the first Splatoon game. This popular shopping mall reopens its doors for battles tonight!

Rumor has it that the .96 Gal Deco will be available this evening. It has the same stats as the .96 Gal, but comes with some snazzy decorations. Completing the kit is the Splash Wall and Splashdown…for those players who like causing a splash.

Great news for those who love Goo Tubing! The Custom Goo Tuber will be available this evening. It has the same stats as the original Goo Tuber, but brings its own sense of whimsy and charm with a new look. Rounding out the kit are Curling Bombs and the Inkjet special. To be sure, it's a kit that has a lot of reach.

Word from our overseas colleagues is that the Splatoon Koshien 2018 tournament is being held this weekend to determine the top team in Japan! We can't wait to find out which team will take the top spot! We've also heard that "Off the Hook" will be performing live tonight! The event will be livestreamed by niconico, and while the times will be late for those viewing in North America, we imagine there might be a few interested night owls.

Our tireless research has resulted in a thrilling discovery! Yes, today we learned that Inklings play basketball! The existence of a new stage, Goby Arena, indicates that Inklings may even play the sport competitively.
As you can see, the details of the sport have been fairly well preserved. The arena is complete with a full-size locker room, polished wooden court, concession stands, jumbotron, VIP seating, and memorabilia shop.
Furthermore, it appears that the arena is converted into an ink-battle stage during the offseason, and this unique location should make for exciting battles indeed. We suspect that the mid-court area, along with the two basketball hoops on each side of the court, will be a focal point for all battle types. Gaining control of the hoop on your side of the stage will give your team the high ground you need to push forward. We'll continue to closely monitor this new development and will provide updates in due course.

Congratulations to team 'GG BoyZ', the Splatoon Koshien 2018 champions! They lost at the finals of the Kyushu Regionals last December, but at Nationals, they matched up against the Kyushu champion team again and won in a dramatic finale.
Fun fact: The roster of 'GG BoyZ' includes one of the most influential, well-known Splatoon players in Japan, Dynamon, who also participated in the 2017 Splatoon 2 World Inkling Invitational at E3 last year!

Sometimes research about Inklings must be postponed for other important things! In honor of Valentine's Day, one of our researchers in Japan made these highly accurate squid cream buns. We're told that they have squid ink chocolate cream on the inside…but no word if it's real squid ink or just chocolate. Research on them will commence directly after this message.

According to our research, the Sloshing Machine Neo will be available this evening, just prior to Splatfest kickoff. Just like the Sloshing Machine, this weapon can be effective on enemies hiding in the terrain…and just like the Sloshing Machine, you shouldn't try to wash your clothes in it (this was hard research, indeed). Rounding out the kit is the Point Sensor to reveal the location of opponents to your team, and the Splat-Bomb Launcher to wreak a little havoc.
