SQUIDS FOR PALESTINIAN KIDS: Splatoon 3 Charity Cup was a Splatoon 3 online tournament that was held to help raise charity funds and awareness for the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. [1] A grand total of 118 teams participated, and accumulated over $6,000 in donations.

Details

Tournament structure

The tournament structure consisted of two parts, those being group stages and single-elimination brackets. Part 1 of the tournament consisted of group stages, in which 30 groups with 4 teams each played 3 matches on pre-decided stages & modes to determine seeding for the single-elimination brackets in Part 2, including if a team was winning 2-0. The top two teams in each group would advance to Alpha Bracket, whilst the bottom two would advance to the Beta bracket.

Part 2 featured best-of-3 sets for the first 3 rounds and on pre-decided stages & modes. This would then change to best-of-5 in quarter-finals and semi-finals, and then best-of-7 in grand finals. Stages & modes would also change to counterpicks after the first match.

Part 2 was originally intended to be a double-elimination bracket, but was changed a few days before the tournament took place due to time consciousness with the ever-growing amount of competing teams.

Prizing

Entry fees were not present, but donations were largely welcomed, which led to over $3,000 being raised. Custom-made artwork was offered as prizes for the top 3 teams in the Alpha bracket and the winner of the Beta bracket, with each artwork being made by a different artist depending on the position.

Additionally, an art raffle was available for everyone who donated at least $10, with 18 different artists contributing towards the artwork for the raffle winners.
