Inklings, although being more "Squid Kid" than "Octokid", are the main characters in Splatoon (manga) and Splatoon (series). Octolings however are all "Octokid" and are enemies up until the Calamari Inkantation causes playable Octokids to appear. This point, known as Splatoon 2's octo expansion, is for the Nintendo Switch.
