Chaos Carnival and other music

Hi, I've noticed you changed Chaos Carnival to Event Wave theme in the music page. Yes, I agree Chaos Carnival is kinda conjectural, but it's most commonly known as it and plus, fishing frenzy also exists so just "Event Wave" theme is not really a good name. Additionally, I've also noticed you removed deluge dirge and fishing frenzy. I'm wondering why as they are both in SRNW. As someone who also edits for Pikipedia (the Pikmin wiki), something that I learned there was to never use speculative names. Here's what Pikipedia's New Game Guide says: "When naming something you don't know, go for "Unknown red bird enemy", not the speculative "Winged Red Bulborb" or the cryptic "Unknown enemy 1"." And I consider this a golden rule in naming things with no official name. As for the Returning Salmon Run tracks my reasoning is that since Splatoon 1 tracks that return in Splatoon 2 only appear in the Splatoon 1 section of the page, the Splatoon 2 Salmon Run tracks shouldn't also be in the Splatoon 3 section. (Example: Some Octo Valley Turquoise October songs reappear in Octo Canyon but they aren't listed in the Octo Canyon section of this page.) So I'm just trying to be consistent with the rest of the wiki. If someone adds all the Splatoon 1 tracks that reappear in Splatoon 2 to the Splatoon 2 section does the same for all the Splatoon 2 tracks that reappear in Splatoon 3, I'll let other people decide if the edit should stay as the page would be fully consistent with itself.

Also I will die on the hill of keeping speculative names to a minimum. Anyways hope you have a good October. -Gulliblepikmin

My take on how to handle the music section

I know there's been a lot a back and forth between you, OrderSquid38, as well as myself on how to handle the music page. I'll be honest and say that I agree with Ordersquid38 on the use of conjectural names, like Chaos Carnival. I don't think it's that big a deal to use conjectural names, especially considering the Splatoon 3 section specifically has a warning saying that names could be conjectural. Also the link to the page for Chaos Carnival (which is called Low-Risk Occurrence on the music page) also lists it as Chaos Carnival with another warning about conjecture. If we're really set on not using conjectural names then I would say it's best to just call it "unknown salmon run song" considering the name Low-Risk Occurrence is also conjectural and could be seen as the real name. I'm also going to be honest and say that I don't think we need to add a presumably to a lot of the band names. For the tutorial songs, every other tutorial song in S1 and S2 were composed by the games signature band. S1 was Squid Squad, S2 was Wet Floor, I see no reason why S3 isn't C-Side. Same goes with stuff like the Grizzco Lobby music. Are we really acting like it wasn't composed by Grizzco? The song is literally the same as the one in S2 just with a slightly altered opening. I know that these technically haven't been explicitly confirmed by the devs, but I think that they're safe enough assumptions to make. Plus it can always be changed later if it's wrong. I'd like to hear Ordersquid38's take on all this as well as yourself, (as well as anyone else who cares), because I feel it's better to come to a consensus rather than just reverting edits for eternity. Okay I'll stop. -Gulliblepikmin

About "File:" (just so you know)

Apparently the visual editor adds "File:" to galleries automatically. Which... yeah, oof. But since I saw you mention it in an undo summary, I just thought I'd tell you that if there's "Tag: Visual edit" on an edit, then it's not the user adding all the "File:"s back, it's the (ugh) visual editor

I got introduced to editing via Pikipedia, which doesn't have the visual editor, so all this time I've been editing pages in the source view. I'm even doing it right now!

I had no idea about this, so thanks for telling me. -Gulliblepikmin

Maws

I didn't want the tip you added to be in the Field Guide section because it wasn't in the Field Guide in-game. I want to commend you for moving it to a different section. The Epicness9000 (talk) 22:08, 17 October 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

No need to commend me, I'm just doing my job as an editor. -Gulliblepikmin

Sentence fragment punctuation

Hi, I noticed that you re-added punctuation that I removed from image captions on the Splat Roller page. Most image captions are sentence fragments, which should not end in punctuation, unless used alongside other sentences. See the Wikipedia manual of style here, it explains it pretty well.

Thank you for your contributions, I used to add punctuation to captions so I just want to pass on the knowledge :)

To quote myself "I got introduced to editing via Pikipedia", which does have punctuation in its image descriptions. Anyways thanks for telling me, I'll be sure to apply this knowledge in the future. -Gulliblepikmin
