About Orion
Hey, I noticed that you mentioned in your edit summary on the Chirpy Chips page that you were looking to make a page for Orion; can I ask if there's a particular reason?
We generally only make individual pages for band members that have been either elevated into more major, in-game roles (Harmony is more or less the only example of this so far) or band members that have been in multiple different bands (ex. Quinn or Yoko). There's generally not really enough info to justify full pages for anyone else. Thank you! Driftin Soul [Talk!] 23:09, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah I thought about that and ultimately desisted not to do it, I just didn't know where to mention that, thanks for asking though. Petal Mail (talk) 00:52, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- Ah, I didn't notice you had already removed the link, sorry about that!

Uploading .webp files
Hey Petal Mail, I noticed you uploaded several .webp files; Inkipedia is slowly moving away from allowing usage of .webp files due to the miscellaneous compatibility issues they cause. I've replaced your .webp uploads with .pngs and done all the associated cleanup work so no further action is needed. In the future, if a file you intend to upload to the wiki is in .webp format by default, please convert it to .png instead. Yoshifan52 (talk) 01:59, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
- Alrighty, thank you for letting me know. Petal Mail (talk) 02:49, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
File sources
Hi there, for your most recent uploads for the Pinging Marciale, you put the source as the floor the boss is fought on. If you took the screenshots, please change the source to "self." The source parameter is for who took the image, not where it was taken. Also, please try and upload files with lowercase extensions, so ".jpg" instead of ".JPG." Thanks! FancyRat

- Hello, I have replaced the source of my files to be correct, thank you for letting me know. Petal Mail (talk) 02:37, 1 April 2024 (UTC)
Please update image source
Hey there Petal Mail, I see you've uploaded a new version of this image; what's the new source for this version of the image? Please update the page accordingly. If this new image is ripped from the recent fan translation of the book, I'm afraid it will have to be reverted as that specific fan translation borders on a copyright violation. Yoshifan52 (talk) 04:38, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Well, unfortunately that is where I got It from, so you can go ahead and revert it. Apologies for the mix up. Petal Mail (talk) 13:04, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Gotcha, no worries! Yoshifan52 (talk) 20:40, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
Video screenshots handling
Hey Petal Mail, I noticed you've uploaded a few crops of video screenshots such as this one. It's fine to upload video screenshots, but a few points related to quality and organization need to be taken into consideration:
- All image files must be prefixed with the related game's abbreviation; these images should be renamed to have the "S3" prefix, à la
File:S3 ABXY trailer logo 4.png
for the example I linked - It is not sufficient to screenshot the video as it plays on your device/in your browser. You must download the video and either use a screenshot tool found within a video playback application or rip the relevant frames from the video via ffmpeg. This is to ensure the quality of the screenshot is up to the wiki's standards
- When noting the source, please provide link text. For example regarding the file I linked, the source should be listed as
{{YT}} [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7-ICRcQW6E Splatoon 3 – Chill Season 2023 [No Quarters / Chirpy Chips] – Nintendo Switch]
, which will render asSplatoon 3 – Chill Season 2023 [No Quarters / Chirpy Chips] – Nintendo Switch
- For the
type
parameter in the file template, you must input|type=video screenshot
rather than|type=screenshot
, as screenshots of videos/trailers are kept separate from in-game screenshots.
If you need any help with resulting cleanup or have any questions, I'm happy to help. Yoshifan52 (talk) 04:38, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I did use a screenshot tool found within a video playback application. Specifically, I used Wondershare Filmora, but if the quality is not up to the standard, I understand. Unfortunately, I don't have a better video playback application, and while I did try to use ffmpeg, I could not get it to work. Also, when I go to update the file with a new name, it resets back to the old name. I can edit the type and source just fine, but when it comes to editing the name and quality of the file, I need some help. Petal Mail (talk) 16:59, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- Wondershare Filmora seems to be a video editing program rather than video player program; I recommend VLC media player for screenshotting. If you're on a device from which you can't use VLC, I can take over the cleanup.
- For both VLC and ffmpeg I have some instructions on this sandbox page. If you're unfamiliar with/uncertain of what using ffmpeg would entail (use of command line + knowing if your GPU is study enough for the task) I don't recommend you try this. If you're still interested I'd be happy to walk you through the process. I believe it's also possible to specify fewer frames to extract, which isn't detailed in my instructions on that sandbox yet.
- To rename a file, you must select the "move" tab at the top of of the file page (it may be under the "more" tab). After moving (renaming) the file, you must navigate to the previous name and mark it for deletion using the delete template, linking to the new name. Yoshifan52 (talk) 23:44, 24 November 2024 (UTC)
- This might be out of my field of capabilities. If you could take over clean up, that would be much appreciated. Petal Mail (talk) 15:16, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Alrighty, I'll look into this soon. If you have any similar video screenshot requests going forward do let me know! Yoshifan52 (talk) 07:45, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Fan translation artbook pages
Hey Petal Mail, please remove the artbook page scans you've added to individual band articles. Full page scans should generally be avoided per our image policy, but in the case of images being part of post archival they may be allowed if kept exclusively on the archive pages. Additionally please archive the related Tweets (instructions here), or else the images will be removed.
All images sourced from Twitter or Tumblr must be added to our related archive, preferably upon the initial upload process rather than after. If you're not available to do such I can take over, but wanted to give you the heads up on how the related maintenance goes. Yoshifan52 (talk) 01:49, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I have removed the scans from the band articles but I am having trouble with the archive website. If you could take over that would be much appreciated. Petal Mail (talk) 02:39, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
- No problem: looks like you've already archived the posts correctly! The only other thing we need is for the individual file sources to be updated, which I've handled. Thanks for your help! Yoshifan52 (talk) 05:38, 16 December 2024 (UTC)
About John Goose's species
Hello. I'd like to know where you found/researched and edited in John Goose's (bassist from damp socks) species. Was it from the BancalaWalker english bands typeset? ASARIDEAD (talk) 07:02, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Ocean, this is Moxi, yes I got that info from the BancalaWalker English bands typeset, I saw the conversation y'all had in the general translations chat about it. Do you think that since there is confusion, it should be changed to just say "footballfish?" Because before I changed it, it said anglerfish, which technically isn't wrong but it seems footballfish is more specific Petal Mail (talk) 14:17, 28 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think the confusion was only from me. It saying Atlantic Footballfish works fine in my opinion. I wouldn't change it. I actually did consider "Footballfish" since thats how the species name is said in animal crossing, but then again, animal crossing isnt exactly reliable in naming japanese fish species as english names. But yes, atlantic footballfish seems like the correct choice, so the state right now is good. ASARIDEAD (talk) 02:41, 29 December 2024 (UTC)
