Splatfest name moves

Hey, saw you added a move notice to Sweater vs. Sock with the reasoning being "Sweater vs. Socks is used both in Private Battles and on Splatoon Base".

Since I've genuinely forgotten by now- were you there in the Inkipedia Discord's main channel when we discussed fixing Splatfest names? The issue on our hands is that some of us (mainly staff) have noticed that Splatoon Base contains several errors, and that therefore it would be best to try and limit name sourcing from Splatoon Base to Japanese-exclusive content. I am not trying to say your addition was a bad move, but rather addressing a bigger problem.

What I really want to talk about is the fact that there's seemingly no good source for all S2 Splatfest names in the "Alpha vs. Bravo" format prior to both the addition of Private Battle names (Version 5.0.0.), and the creation of the English gallery on Splatoon Base. Information pertaining to the following, all directly copy-pasted from our pages and therefore not necessarily 100% foolproof, seems a bit jumbled:

  • Full names (aforementioned)
  • Long names (example: "Cake is better than ice cream!" and "Ice cream is better than cake!" for Ice Cream vs. Cake)
  • Team names (example: "VAMPIRES" and "WEREWOLVES" for Vampire vs. Werewolf)
  • Private Battle names (example: Fries/Nuggets for Fries vs. McNuggets)

If you're still reading- thank you very much, lol. A tl;dr of the situation is: would you have any leads? Me and Driftin Soul have gone through SplatNet 2's data, and some users agree that these are the original names, while some believe certain team names (e.g. Fam, Guac) have been shortened later down the line.

I hope this isn't overly confusing; your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated. (PS: I've been meaning to perhaps start an actual discussion on the Splatfest page, but honestly have not had the time to do anything of the sort.) Terribly sorry, I did not add that notice I'm afraid, Hewer did, I just edited the page recently. Pialpha1 (talk) 07:27, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Oh, I've misread the edit history, I guess. I suppose you don't really know any more than us regarding the fest names, anyway; my apologies for wasting your time! Anemoia Anemoia Sig.png [Talk!] 15:03, 7 February 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
