Inkipedia:Requests for Rights/Archives/Octopedia

From Inkipedia, the Splatoon wiki

I have over 100 edits in the last 30 days. I love categorizing things, as well as editing pages. For my spelling and grammar, I write fan-fiction, so I try my best to make that look nice. I do not feel conformable editing talk pages, nor receiving messages from them. Yes, some of you might remember the Inkipedia Newsline catastrophe, but I have moved on from that. Ever since then, I have tried my hardest to redeem myself to do this. With all this said, I would like to apply for a Patroller position. I feel that Inkipedia has made me a better person in terms of rule following and more. If I do not make the cut, I will sharpen my skills and nominate myself again. Regardless of anything, I love Inkipedia and will always try to make it an awesome place. Octopedia(Sandbox) 20:46, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

  1. I think this user is a little rough around the edges, but I think promoting them is a good way for them to grow! FreshFreelancer (talk) 23:13, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

  1. No. I guess I need to meet my word quota for the month so I'll be the one to elaborate: You've been around for less than a month, nearly a third of your just-under-200-at-time-of-writing edits are in the user space, you have a pending question about your removal of information which seems to be not constructive at best and actively reverted and destructive at worst. A large majority of your created categories are also not needed as they either already exist in some capacity or don't follow appropriate capitalization formatting. Being a fan-fiction does not effectively benefit the ability to write as they are two entirely different styles (though you are indeed grammatically coherent). I also take a severe issue with the phrase "I do not feel conformable editing talk pages, nor receiving messages from them." as that to me reads the same as "I am unwilling to communicate with my peers". There are slivers of useful edits in the fray, but until you can demonstrably show healthy growth and a much deeper knowledge of site function, I'm not going to be for it. 2. I won't be able to say much more than Trig already stated but I will have to oppose as well. Being a patroller comes with responsibility and trust, only gained over time, edits and community integration.  Perfectionist  (talk) 21:30, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
  3. Your enthusiasm is very appreciated, but you don't seem to have enough experience with this wiki nor Mediawiki as a whole to be a patroller. Using Talk pages to communicate with other editors comfortably is a skill highly needed in all editors, but especially patrollers; if you're unable to reply to other users asking questions regarding your own edits, I'm afraid you aren't fit to initiate Talk page topics regarding other people's edits, which is what patrollers are expected to do as staff members. Separate from your inexperience, I don't see how gaining access to the patrolling tools will help your current editing patterns. Yoshifan52 (talk) 21:48, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
  4. Same as above. User:Eminence/Sig3 22:50, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
